This brings me back to playing this on my cousin's SNES at my aunt's house in the mid-90s. It was so frustratingly hard. I was never able to get very far. The weird characters and sound effects were also a little creepy yet compelling.
Honestly this game was good but it did NOT deserve this insane of a soundtrack; Plok is such a niche game that is only recently being talked about BECAUSE of the soundtrack. If Plok had come out recently it would have BLOWN UP and Tim Follin would've gotten the recognition he deserved
I remember spending ages and ages as a little kid (5-7 y/o maybe) trying to beat this game. I used to have to keep the SNES on overnight if it got late or if ny family went out When i first made it to the fleapit my heart sank because I realized if I could barely get through the previous area how the hell would I get through that hole lol I ended up beating it on emulator (with save states) as an adult but this game holds a special place in my heart as one of the few that I couldn't beat despite my best efforts. This and Devil May Cry's hard mode. Thx for the gameplay and nostalgia
Better times, nice music, nice graphics, nice level design and nice character. Retro wins again, and retro remember us that we should play Plok! Right now.
I was actually hoping you’d get to this one soon! This game definitely has a ton going for it, but it gets very demanding pretty fast. I’ve never made it far into the Fleapit without savestates!
I recall renting this game around middle school, it was a tad too difficult for me back then, I remember never beating the grandpappy arc. However the music is definitely the best element of this title. It’s much more than your usual level music on loop.
I never remember how long this game is. I just have so much fun with the stages and memorizing everything. So much more story than remember to boot! Such a fantastic gem of a game I am proud to still have at least the cartridge
Loved that game, but man was Plok an egomaniac. Who the hell puts so many selfies everywhere on their islands? EDIT : Lol at you being stuck at 1:01:00 not being able to retrieve your arm because of the shitty Sheriff costume!

Litteraly just heard the boss music on an Elden Ring meme video. Took me a couple seconds to remember where it came from. This game has almost 30 years and still, what a masterpiece, especially the soundtrack.
Back in 1995 I remember playing this on my cousins SNES. However, I could never remember the name of the game. Finally almost 27 years later I have a title to go with the game.
Getting lots of Rayman 1 vibes here, yet this also kinda feels like an Amiga game at the same time. The music definitely seems more Amiga or Atari Jaguar quality than your average snes game.
This was one of my absolute favorite games on my Super Nintendo way back in the day when I was like 3. I remember buying this one, thinking the cover art looked so cool with the claymation and Plok is such a wacky character and universe, how could you turn it down!? So much charm, what a great game! And an extremely nostalgic one for me too. Limbs will fly! Go, Plok!! Kill all the Fleas!! And the soundtrack is nothing short of *epic.* Done by the legendary Tim and Geoff Follin the Follin Bros. pushing the sound chips to their limit! Oh man, some serious ear worms here. It's a testament to their talent as composers that these songs have been stuck in my head since I was little. Fun times, lovely times, awesome underappreciated SNES classic!! ❤️ "HEY THIS ISN'T MY FLAG!!" The flags on Cotton Island like the underpants made me laugh so much too.
...Okay, even my nostalgia goggles can't hide my opinion that those last Flea Pit levels are _terrible!_ They are SO FREAKING HARD even compared to the rest of the game! Plok's level design is generally very clever and thoughtful, but the Flea Pit is just gauntlet after gauntlet of wacky, awkward-controlling vehicles that you must pilot through some rather sinisterly placed enemies. Mercy! Still, the quirkiness is irresistible. I love the Grandpappy levels too! Ditto the bosses.
I have seen the Genesis fanboys diss the SNES's soundchip, sorry guys, this game proves that the SNES soundchip was far more capable than people would have you believe. In the right hands, it was unstoppable.
