Here's something special for you all! :) I shot this video footage at a sound check that George did in Chicago in December 2003 - this is some awesome footage of George Lynch, Marten Anderson, Michael Frowein ('Fro') and Chas West setting up for the show on the first night. It was an amazing weekend spent with great friends - good memories!!!! Enjoy watching and more on the way soon!!! :)

For A Million Years…perhaps my favorite Lynch solo of them all.
This reminds me of George when he opened up for Yngwie. Maybe a year later? Listening to George play made my skin crawl. Hearing him on cd seems tame. Live the guy just rips it up. And while I enjoyed every bit of George, I caught myself yawning during Yngwie's set. It just seemed that George played with emotion yet at the same time he knew when to shred. As for Yngwie everything was, "I can play fast. Look!"

Thanks for sharing! To be totally honest, I have worshiped George since 1983. However, total, I really don't care for his tone that he has been sporting for ( what seems like) several years. I totally get it that he wants to evolve, however, I think what mesmerizes us into love what he puts out is that signature George Lynch Tone!I That GROWLING, reverb, and that signature echoey delay. I thought that when the Original Dokken played at loud park, he had that tone.

I so love that I can get those sounds with the Friedman pedal and BluGuitar AMP1 - magic combination for me, and having the ability to direct record...man that makes it very easy for me to record! I have video of George sound checking with Dokken at the House Of Blues in Chicago. It was the night that Cuttlass, the band that I was lighting director for, blew them off the stage. No fault to George, he played great, but Don Dokken was just going though the motions and was really bad. George remembered that and had us open for Lynch Mob when they came to town,and he had me do his lights.

Hi Jay. I was a huge, huge fan of Tooth and Nail when it came out and saw Lynch play on the Under Lock & Key Tour, but was already acquiring heavier tastes at that time and I felt Back for the Attack was somewhat campy when it came out...alhough I spent countless hours working on Mr Scary like every other Wanna Be!! I went deep into Fates Warning in college and then, decades later became a blues rock player. These days I'm chasing Matt Schofield tones and melodies. About 5 years ago I rediscovered Back for the Attack and now recognize it as a timeless masterpiece. KoD & NbN are not the songs most people talk about from that album, but they are both perfect songs in my estimation.
This video has motivated me to chase down Lynch's later projects!!! What three records should I start with made after Beast From The East? -Thanks!

Back For The Attack, described as campy! Fuck that! It's dark and mysterious, has killer songwriting, all studio performances are totally amazing, it's their best long play recording by far. 2nd best would be Tooth & Nail followed by Under Lock & Key. Fourth is tie with Dysfunctional and Erase The Slate (with mighty Reb Beach, criminally underrated LP). IMO, which is subjective as anyone else. :-)

The sound on this is very good! And the vocals are also great. Chas West apparently. The whole band is playing great. And some of the better playing from Lynch. Flesh and Blood, one of my favorite tracks.

I got to see a sound check in Georgia at a club he played. This was about 2015-2016. He had a black strat. Gotta be honest got goosebumps and I don’t get excited seeing celebrities.

Yes thats right :) Oni had been in and out for a while - in fact I think Oni was supposed to sing on this tour but pulled out last min? I heard something to that effect - Singer on this tour was Chas West - He did a great job :)

Hey dude, yes pretty much - high gain and volume help a great deal with it as well as boosting the correct frequencies (hence Tube Screamers were used as they boosted the magic 500-1000hz range) 😊 And then technique takes over 😊 Hope that helps, have an amazing day!

Fab! Glad it did 😊 Cool about the 80s tone! I still set my amps up pretty much the same. My recording method and production has changed though. Circle is in E flat - I think I did the whole album in that tuning 😊

I can't understand the Lynch just plays some shit. He hits the drums , he misses the melody , and his own solo one at all can not play for sure. What the hell is this?
Art G it seemed like George tried to improvise over the drums as an 80's musician would have back then. The 80's as we all know was an era of rock music were perhaps that type of improvisation fed right in. But today however it sounds monotonous and out of place. Sadly I would have to agree with you. This was terrible. It had no direction musically speaking.

Hey Kevin, I remember thinking the same when I saw the show and soundcheck - the singer who was supposed to be on that tour pulled out a couple of days prior to the shows so Chas stepped in. I think he was still getting the hang of the songs while on tour 😊 George and the rest of the band sounded amazing though 😃 enjoy and have a great day man!
