When I saw Dokken back in the Tooth&Nail days they were damn good. FF a decade later when Lynch Mob rolls into town,I was like WTF?!?! And came back through barely a year later,I like to think they did so just confirm the first time wasn't a fluke. But the norm w/show that's naturally twice as powerful than Dokken ever was.
Watching this made me feel like all 6 of my guitars are nothing but firewood now.... Saw George (dokken) first time back in 83 then 85, 87/88 and 90. This guy is a legend and he seems to just get better and better with age...😉
The riffs this man created, his signature tone . Makes him one of my faves. Glad I'm old enough to have seen Dokken in their prime. A few times. Love every Dokken album with Lynch.
How many guys can play like that at age 58 when this video was shot? The guy is an animal. Unreal. He gets better as the solo goes on and his improvisation on that solo is incredible. Lynch is the man. Go George!!
@gunsnstuff4040 nothing could be further from the truth. Playing is a fine motor skill. As we age, the nervous system ages along with us. Fine motor skills can and do diminish. Muscle also breaks down and doesn't rebuild at the same rate as people age. Playing guitar, although not a form of bodybuilding, requires muscle strength and stamina, as well as accuracy. If you can't look at videos of many guitar players as they age and see a decline, you're either willfully choosing not to see it, or you don't have the ear and analytical mind to see it. Angus Young over the last 10 years has noticeable loss in hand strength and dexterity. His vibrato isn't what it used to be, his runs are nowhere near as accurate and there's a lot more pick clank going on. Mark knopfler - more recent renditions of Sultans of Swing, you can see and hear the loss of technique and hand strength. Ace Frehley is among the worst decline I've seen. His hands are shaky and his pick attack is God awful. He was never a virtuoso, but he sounds worse than most people at Guitar Center banging on instruments. Arthritis, alcohol and drugs, muscle loss and neuro degeneration are all factors that absolutely do impact guitar players. The guys who take good care of their health obviously fare better with age, but I could go on all day with players whose age related decline in playing quality is obvious.
38 years ago,, I had two major inspirations and influences to pick up the guitar, play and be determined to learn seriously. That is Warren DeMartini and George Lynch. I made it my goal to not only learn guitar but to be able to play at least somewhat like them. George sounds fantastic here. I do wish he would use his old tone from his Dokken days though and ditch the heavy effects..I still love his original tone. Thankyou for uploading this, its much appreciated !!!
He was never ahead of Eddie Van Halen and George would be the first to admit it. There were times he said he listened to Van Halen and wanted to throw his guitar into the trash.
@@FoundingFathers2.0 Randy passed WAY too soon, Edward peaked and sat down, George still has not peaked! Disagree? Check out “Slow Drag” from Lynch Mob, Or ANYTHING from KXM. The man is still innovating!!!

What can you say about George lynch that his skills haven't already said time and time again simply one of the best guitar players to ever pick up the guitar unbelievably timeless
Why is he so dang great i wish i could mett george just to tell him that he is better than even his wildest thoughts of what the greatest guitar playing is
I think there would have been some real history made if he worked with Ozzy. George has an anger in his playing that would have fit well with Ozzy’s voice. But George did stellar work anyway. Awesome vid.
Ozzy fired him and Got Jake E Lee instead as Sharon had the hots for Jake like she did for Basically every guitarist Ozzy ever hired and dont mention Sharon had Sex with Randy lol
Since Ozzy calls so many guests on his recent albums I hope he calls George Lynch up. Sure, Ozzy's voice is different now but I think it could still be cool.
To his credit he's not "shredding" he's playing some inventive stuff with some nice choice of /notes/scales and doing it to a high standard.Shredding with a pick and hammer ons is only one form of difficulty (which he has accomplished) and being inventive & playing oddities to speed is another.See Jeff Beck,it's why Beck is among the greatest if not the greatest in rock.
I remember wearing out my tapes of Dokken, while riding to and from school on the bus when I was in high school. George was and will always be one of my favorite guitarists. I seen Dokken at the House of Blues and Lynch Mob at the Radisson. Both times he kicked ass.
Kiss of death....such a killer Tune! But I still think the best is yet to come, kxm, dirty shirley, lynch mob, the end machine, souls of we, xciter, and of course Dokken!
I knew kids like this in the early 80s. 12 or 14 yr old, upper middle class, had a Charvel, Jackson or a nice USA Kramer. High end combo amp. It really helps to have nice stuff when you're young.
There's always that one dude standing there in every clinic (or gig) with his arms crossed, looking pissed off (0:17), or simply jealous, envisioning how he's going to "assassinate the king, and take over the village of wannabe's that came to worship the chosen God on that given day". It never get's old to watch. Dude looks like he's really enjoying himself (not to mention George). God I miss the 80's.
That chromatic he does at 5:49 is just brilliant. Took several hours to learn that progression - probably going to take me 30 years to pull it off with that kind of casual excellence.
Hard to believe that he didn't get the Ozzy gig back in the day. Randy must have been out of this world to beat out George for the gig. Eddie, Randy & George are monsters! Only saw Eddie live in '86. Can anyone who attended share: a) pedals/effects in the chain? (I see the mic'd cab and appears to be a Friedman Dirty Shirley head...) b) what device was generating the backing track? I did not see a laptop, but did notice what appears to be a mixer? (to mix the backing track with his signal.)
The feel is unbelievable! Not just all show, truly unique guitar player, one of my favourite of all time. Cheers
