With age sometimes comes wisdom, and that's what I'm hearing from George. Cool guy and forgive me for stating the obvious, absolute guitar god. 🎸🔥

George's description of their efforts and constant drive to make things better makes a lot of sense why Dokken stood apart.

I don't care what anyone says Back for the Attack was/is one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time. It has everything, heaviness, melody, great songs great playing. It should have been as big as any album of that decade

It's definitely my favorite Dokken album. Beast from the East is awesome as well. I even liked Return to the East. Unchain the Night just sounds raunchy downtuned.

I agree. George was, and is, melodically the best guitar player out there. That’s why all those early Dokken albums still hold up musically to anything.

@@benben-sl7hi I totally agree. He uses techniques that I don't see other players do like having the note already bent before plucking the sting then plucks it and drops the note into place. It's like a reverse bend LOVE IT. sideways vibrato😳 just a great player Lynch Rhodes and EVH are my three favorites.

Beast From The East was Dokken at their finest. I would say George's ultimate peak was there and probably a couple of years later with the Wicked Sensation album. One of the all time greats in hard rock. 🎸

In 6th grade I bought the Beast album- 1989. Wore that album OUT! So inspirational. When Lynch Mob came out I was BLOWN AWAY! It was the HEAVIEST Rhythms on a Glam type album ever! They earned their OWN recognition with that sound! Robert was good on the 2nd but that FIRST Album with Oni was unbelievable!
Ive heard him, Jeff and Don all live in NM now? Sad how LA has lost its luster. It was a Magical place to chase dreams up until about 2005 ish😎

This man made me pick up a guitar. I'm not any good, but he made me want to be. His depth of talent, his imaginative riffs and those electrifying solos are simply sublime. I love to see him still standing and I think there's a lot more he has in the tank. He's coherent, appears amazingly healthy.... I'd watch him anytime!!!!

George has got to be my favorite even above Eddie. That time from early mid eighties to early nineties I think captured George at the height of his career. I think with musical artists their success has a lot to do with timing and pop culture and the synchronicity of it all. To me, his playing was more melodic and had a more appealing tone than Edward’s. I still listen to his work today and I feel the same about it as I did in the eighties. It is purely magical!❤️‍🔥

I absolutely adore George and have met/chatted with him many times. As long as we don't chat about politics, we are good ha. In addition, I do wish he would give the band Dokken more kudo's for a plethora of reasons with the most important being, FINANCIAL SUCCESS to do what they are doing now. They are all millionaires due to the success of Dokken. Lynch is correct about Q Prime though. No doubt about it. Great interview!!!

I saw Dokken in the 80’s opening for Lover Boy if you can believe that. Lover Boys sound man must have sabotaged Dokken’s sound system because the system was awful, but when Lover Boy came on the system worked flawlessly miraculously !!

They wondered why they weren't the headliner. It all has to do with song writing. When you copy the songs of other bands, Riffs, song titles, sound, words, subjects etc. then there is nothing original or unique about your band. They had a monkey see monkey do approach out of a desire to be rockstars rather than original artists. They only achieved little more than a cover band for their efforts and now have a song catalog that is almost worthless and keeps them only working in bars or clubs at best. They were always the opener and yet many of their fans think they were massive stars in the 80s. When you take shortcuts in your career you only cut short your career achievements. That is also why you don't see them out on stadium tours which would pay them well at their age. Sad. They sounded like everyone else in the 80s only they were a cheap imitation of the real stars.
