All batteries were fully charged before this test. All given lumen and candella figures are as advertised, and I don't have the means to personally verify them.

Would you be able to see the beam from the K1 from say a mile or less away. Sort of like a signal in the sky?

Hey just found this video after looking at the KR1, would you say it’s a useful light with decent spill for walking?
I’m also torn between the w1 and w2 emitter, it’s an extra 400lm on the w2 but less throw.

The W1 has maximum throw, but the least amount of spill. If you want more spill for walking, I'd pick a different emitter. W2 will have more than W1, and an SST40 would have even more spill...but of course, you get less throw with those options. W1 for max throw, but other options if you want a more balanced light.

Love my D1s , trying to decide if I want the K1 , I tend to like warmer light but those osrams throw!

The k1 does have xpl-hi options down to 4000k, which would have a warmer tint and still decent throw...maybe 300,xxx candella...I forget...but yeah, I wanted the throw when getting this light, and unfortunately the w1 and w2 are only available in cool white.

@@JMGeranimo That would be a beast...has some good throw AND light output. It is an extra $50 or so...another option is the FT03S, it's an FT03 with the SBT90.2, and I think it's around the same price as a K1. K1 might beat it in throw slightly? I'm not sure. The SBT90.2 does seem cool, the extra cost stopped me from trying one.

How far would you say the k1 with the w2 emitter can throw?

I can throw it about 25 meters if I really give it my all. The d4s throws much further like 40 meters

Does that noctigon K1 have a W 2.1 or 2.2 emitter?

My K1 has the W 2.2 emitter. The KR1 in the video has the W2.1

@@OneWheelMan oh wow.. the kr1 has such a smaller build that the w2.1 is only only putting out a 100k cd vs the 550 you see when it's installed into a K1. Usually when you see those two emitters go side by side the hotspot ends up being brighter on the w2.1

@@mikerphone. Yeah, and in the same light they would be. I think the W2.1 in the K1 would be either 600,000 or 650,000 candella. But the K1 has a much larger reflector than the KR1, so it throws a lot further still even though the emitter itself isn't as throwy.

why do they call them throwers?

A thrower has a focused beam (see the brighter spot in the middle) It's called a "thrower" because it "throws" the light further out...as opposed to alight that doesn't. A light bulb for example, would be the opposite...it might put out a lot of light overall, but it won't light up something super far away like a "thrower" will.
