This is played at every black cookout and yall know it lmao
K-Solo sampled this for his 1990 song Your mom's in my business.
😆Classic!!!!
Their anthem song! Frankie is the founder of Maze. Peace!
This is always played at barbecues and family gatherings my whole life🤗
A cookout especially a black cookout ain't right unless this song is in the rotation! 💯😂
@@bigjohnboatright3811 Indeed!
@@smittybenzo4693 You already know.
This, September, and anything by Parliament Funkadelic 😂😂
@@cflournoy1529 "Not Just Knee Deep"- Parliament Funkadelic
The "Cook-out" Anthem!!!
I have seen them quite a few times with my husband and family at the Zulu Ball in New Orleans. They sound just like their records in person. They give such good concerts. Everybody had to get out of their seats and dance. 🤗
It's an iconic song - especially in our community😊😊😊!!! Thats why they're in your top 5😄 (as they shld be)!!! Their music is timeless!!!
Maze doesn't have a bad song AT ALL!!!
JJ, let me tell you, if Maze EVER is in your area, GO SEE THEM!!! It is an experience.
Yes it is! Definitely a groove fest!
Frankie's voice is all but gone, but you can still sing along.
Maze was discovered by Marvin Gaye and now that you know that react to "Golden Time of the Day" That song was the best cruising song back in the 70's.
I need this reaction!! That’s probably my favorite song by Frankie Beverly and Maze. Such a smooth joint. I mad it a text tone.
Southern Girl is an awesome joint too. I actually sampled that for a song on my own album
Mc Gregor park in the 80's Houston Sunday afternoon 😎
@@TripSe7en_77 Don't forget "Lady of magic"
My favorite song by them. Golden Time of Day
Maze was a regular in New Orleans Essence Festivals and Jazz Fest.
Wait til you hear Maze - Happy Feelings J.J.
Joy And Pan Pain, Southern Girl too...
@@IceManLikeGervin Yes! He has reacted to Joy and Pain....Southern Girl is a must!
Yes Lawd
This is a black cookout anthem lol. Maze “Golden Time of Day” is dope too
@@shawnjackson4868 Yes! "Golden Time Of Day"
JJ, I'm impressed by your list of favorite groups for such a young person. Your 4 are solid. Others that could be there are The Temptations (had a studio band), Con Funk Shun, The Ohio Players, The Brothers Johnson, Commodores, Kool and the Gang, SOS Band and the Whispers.
He definitely likes the SOS Band, it's been awhile since he did them.
Maze always reminds me of cruisin in the summer with the top down..
Bro, you haven't even scratched the surface of music back in the day! 😁
classic soul uk no hits but the soul fans in my country would sell out theatres joy & pain was the closest they got to a hit in uk very strong fan base in uk marvin gaye s fav male vocalist frankie beverly
My mother favorite group. When she was living she would go to a lot of places to see them.
You haven't lived until you went to see them live! I saw them once in NYC. When they started playing, they had the whole house rocking!
We Are One "Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly"
So damn proud I’ve electric slid to this track live performance from MAZE
Lol man you just put this on in a party and see how packed a dance floor gets lol and i cant dance 😂😂😂 still my jam even in the car
The last concert I saw before Covid was Maze, Keith Sweat and Kem. Man, such a great show!!
I saw FB and Maze opening for Stevie Wonder. One of the best concerts of my life!!!!
We went to MAZE concerts so Frankie Beverly could hear us sang their songs. LOL
Every family BBQ needs this song!
Parliament/Funkadelic....Isley Brothers ....Ojays...EWF....Maze Ft Frankie Beverly....my top five in no particular order!!!! Honorable mention to the Ohio Players, LTD, Zapp, Gap Band, The Dramatics, Heatwave, Cameo
Beyonce tried to cover this and a lot of DJ's have tried to put their spin on it. But nobody comes close to Frankie Beverly and Maze.!!
I will never forgive Beyonce for that 😒
"HAPPY FEELINGS" Maze featuring Frankie Beverly
One Of The Most Iconic Legendary Songs Ever Made Till This Day Every Generation Knows This Song It's Played At Every Possible Function By Every Dj Known To Man Been Sampled By Numerous Producers & Even Beyonce Covered It
Too many for the 5th spot, The Ojays, The Whispers, Temptations, Four Tops, The Dramatics, The Dells..Oh me Oh my!
When Maze performs this no no one sits classic Maze they give it all every performance!!! Love them!!!!😍😍
Saw them years ago at the Jazz festival in the Trenton thunder stadium. Along with Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack, and so many other masters of their craft. Second favorite jazz concert I’ve ever been to.
That had to be be so great!!!
@@cathyreed6723 Truly! Only the George Benson concert in the pouring rain was better. Most of the crowd fled before he went on stage, but George thrilled all of us left by having us come next to the stage while he shredded his guitar and sang! He must have played for 80 minutes!!!
The crowd almost killed eachother in Houston when I went to see them.
BIG FUN
Anyone remember "The Smurf" dance in the early 80s? That dance and this song went well together.
I Know RIGHT! another bomb jam by FB&Maze that I LOVE.
Makes me want to have a bbq in the park with family and friends. Thanks J.J. 👍👍👍✌
New Orleans adopted Maze ss their own! Check out Southern U playing this and the live version. The extended version is hard to find. Merry Christmas bruh!
A great & classic song we roller skate too. Like the movie i think it was soul bounce with bow wow in it.
Ahhh, hear you jammin Cece Peniston on the sign-in. She had a couple nice hits over the years. Her other was ‘Finally’, like a house music beat & was pretty big. On the Franky Bev & Maze, this is ultimate old school jam! You can’t go to a grown black function & not rock this once during the night. Easily their biggest joint. They also had Joy and Pain. Great choice!
Luv your top 4 and I’m sure the Ojays will be in your top 10 somewhere when you have delved into their collection a little deeper.
Love this one!💃💃💃💃❤️❤️❤️❤️
Classic Jam!
Can you tell this the #1 song you better have at a old skool party or Bar B Q??
LOL #1 BBQ song fo sure, electric slide anthem
Need to hear After the morning after by Frankie Beverly and Maze. Soooooo smooth.
You must include Parliament Funkadelic in that top 5. And yes, Maze is right in there too. So much old school good music -- how can one choose?!?!
This song & Southern Girls really sound good in concert. Enjoy this back in college 😎 Those PV days😂😂😂
Frankie Beverly can't make a bad song it's impossible these guys are amazing 😍 🎉
Where did our grow up? Because every black family reunion, wedding, back yard cook out and in my family after a funeral and my family on my father's side of the family especially there was going to be a party with Maze playing in the background! One movie I know for sure it was in was Tyler Perry's family reunion! Like I said at first where you been hiding?🧐🤔😉
My parents never listened to music really except for MJ and some others.
The cookout National anthem.
I will say it again. Frankie is KING of smooth grooves. And Sade is the Queen of smooth grooves.
Such a great song! Definitely a amazing track & vocals. What a voice & the instrumental true talent.
you heard it from welcome home roscoe jenkins
You heard this song in Tyler Perry movies and plays...other Black movies.
Maze has quite a few.
You have a lovely soothing voice too....
This baby is the realest lol
Beyonce did a remix of sort. Most in your generation think she's the originator but she got the blessing of Frankie! This is the official cookout jam. Their music is classic, standing the test of time. Only one of a few artists that still live on the work they produced at the height of their career. Finally, there's no party like Frankie Beverly & Maze concert vibe!! Frankie & Maze have NEVER gotten the recognition they DESERVE but he says he has gotten the recognition from fans and their love!!
I love what you do here on this platform, but let me help you with your categorizing of music acts. The Stylistics were amazing, but they are a vocal group, not a band. So, you might want to put them in the category of your favorite vocal groups along with The Dramatics, The Temptations, The Whispers, Enchantment, and maybe Bloodstone, for example.
As for bands, some of the top bands of all time (I'm talking about quality of music and stage performances, not necessarily sales or awards), might be: Earth, Wind & Fire, The Isley Brothers, Cameo, Lakeside, Maze, Con Funk Shun, The JBs, Parliament-Funkadelic, Slave, Chic, Zapp, Brick and a few others.
My personal favorite vocal group of all time is The Temptations (with the Dramatics coming in as a close 2nd). My favorite band of all time is Cameo, although I give a huge bow of respect to all the bands I've listed above. If you haven't yet heard these Cameo songs, try them and let me know what you think: (1) Rigor Mortis (2) Be Yourself (3) I Just Want To Be (4) Throw It Down (5) Freaky Dancin' (6) Flirt (7) Your Love Takes Me Out
You mentioned The Stylistics, who had 17 no. 1 's on the r&b charts. Great group with Russell Thompkins Jr. on lead vocals. Try any of their songs. I love "You are Everything and Stop, Look,Listen. Then there's Break up, to make up, and Let's Put it All together, You make me feel brand new, Stoned in love with you, and ...so on and so on Lots of great ones!
You gotta listen to some more Detroit Spinners music...that being said this is the jammy jam right here!!
I see u are finally listening to this album. I tried tellin u they are the truth son. Enjoy.
The movie you might heard this on is either Johnson Family Vacation or Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins
Have to say, I always feel kind of bad to hear you say you've heard a sample from a movie or a game or TV show. I can't imagine that. I heard all these songs for the first time on the radio before I rushed out and bought the album (33s--not 45s--do you even now what those are, lol?). Love watching you react to all this great music from my teen/young adult years. Still groovin' to it.
It's gonna be impossible almost to hear any Maze and Frankie Beverly for the first time if you have ever been to a black cookout. It's required playing at those!!!
Barebque.......yasss
Spirit 🙏❤️ I may be older but we vibe to the like Bro.
Maze- We Are One

Appreciated!
Lookup 'Use Me' by Steady B.

This the last dance song, and take your ass home safely... That's this song..
🎶🎶🎶🎶💯💯💯
Black people family reunion anthem
The black people family reunion anthem!
Beyonce remade this more recently, so maybe that's where you heard it.
Maze was bad to the bone. Keep doing what you are doing.
Nice top five. AWB wouldn’t be bad
My favorite song by maze "you" please react to it.
Have you heard of Cameo Why have I lost you, the Dazz Band or the Gap band
Yup I've heard music from all of them!
No Gap band in your top wow!! I know you would love them
He's done "Outstanding" & Yearning For Your Love", he enjoyed those songs, but he hasn't heard Burn Rubber, Humpin, Early IN The Morning, Dropped The Bomb On Me, Nothing Comes To Sleepers etc. Once he hears more, he usually updates their status. Peace!
Yeah gotta hear more of their music.
Beyonce' did a version of this & was fire from her Homecoming tv special! 🐝 🎤 🎶🔥
@Anthony Barkley She did it justice i liked it!
@Anthony BarkleyAlthough i agree with you It wasn't that bad though leave Queen Bey' alone!
@Anthony Barkley DAMN!!! 😂😂😭😭😭
@Anthony Barkley And they would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling adults! 😠😂
No, No, not another Taylor Swift move when she covered, the Commodores. "September." Some songs are sacred -- no covers, no redos -- none of that!
Queen B try it, Shout to Queen B but NO ONE!!!!!!BUT NO ONE is to sing this song but MAZE featuring FRANKIE BEVERLY. SORRY THIS SONG IS NEVER TO BE RE-DONE.
Johnson Family Vacation
If you black you better like maze
From your reaction, I know you didn't think this was an original by Beyonce, really? (side-eye, neck roll & a child please!) This one right here, let's everybody know, "shut-up, turn it up, that's my song, getcho drink, cause we about to get it started".
Of course not.
Have you and checked out the enchantments that would be a nice reaction from you being Chapman's all of the songs of Annie's Song you want to pick
Yup I've done a few of their songs as well!
Watch the video you have in the background.
Beyonce tried a remake of this song, but of course compared to Frankie B., it was sub-par! Nothing will every come close to this Masterpiece!
Ladybugg Luv Keyword being ‘tried’
Interesting.
50 Cent sampled this.
try out some cameo
Please check out James Brown. PLEASE. PLEASE PLEASE
Did you hear the recent Beyoncé remake .
Nope.
Can't compare a singing group to a band. Two different categories.
bey could NEVA
Beyoncé version.
Beyoncé covered this song
how is the s.o.s band not in your top 5 tho🤔🤔🤔 lol
Typical party closing track.
Black National Anthem
