I always find that when making any 'red' sauce frozen meals, I add a layer of plastic wrap over the item before adding the aluminum foil. Seems like there is a chemical reaction with the acid in the red (tomato) sauce and the foil. Just remove the plastic wrap before cooking. THEN, if I have fresh tomatoes in house that need to be used up, often times will add thin slices to the top before baking!
That is SUCH a great tip! Thank you! I've had other people ask about the aluminum foil-tomato reaction. Next time, I will add the plastic wrap in between.
It's more important to use a layer of parchment paper between the red sauce and the foil before baking. Martha Stewart makes parchment lined foil specifically so that foil doesn't come in direct contact with food 👍

If you take a pitcher and place your plastic bag in it with the edges folded over it makes it easier to pour ingredients in without having to worry the bag will tip over…I just bought inexpensive pitchers from the dollar store….. Walmart has large cans of tomato sauce and use to have paste also in large cans…. I buy large bags of frozen corn and veggies…saves on costs, taste fresh and less cans to open…. I prep meals for a professional couple and I run onions, peppers etc thru my food processor attachment. To mix hamburger for meatballs in my Kitchen Aid it’s easier on your hands.. If you have an Amish store near you the five lb. block is what I buy of cheeses and run them thru my Kitchen Aid attachment…..then I put the bags of shredded cheese in the freezer…..or I do it the day before prep and put in a cooler with ice packs.
I tend to do this in jars, canning the ground beef, chicken, veggies, etc. I lost my entire two freezers full after a hurricane and lost power for 3 weeks. So I had to make a new plan. Buy a canner and a dehydrator. Works good. Now we’re in hurricane season again so this time I’m prepared.

My best way of utilizing freezer prep is to have cooked meats ready to use. I adore these videos though! I may make up a few for my lazy days. Thank you!

I just recently started doing this for my family out of necessity lol and I really enjoyed the whole process of planning out the meals and shopping and then getting in the kitchen and throwing everything together. I only did about 6 different meals but Its comforting for me to know that I can thaw and cook or throw in the crockpot and know my family will have a hot meal for dinner even when I don't feel like cooking or had a long day at work. I also like being able to utilize canned foods more and then I always rinse and recycle them when I'm done

WOAH! That's a lot of yummy looking food :) What a fun but productive way to spend time with a friend :) I have a question about the jalapeno popper chicken meal - how do you cook that one? Thank you for the terrific video!
Thank you! For the jalapeno popper chicken, you can either cook it in a casserole dish in the oven (350° for about an hour) and serve it with rice or pasta or you can cook it in the slow cooker and then shred it and serve it on buns.
New subscriber! Super excited to try this. What would you suggest? And I know everywhere is different on pricing, but about how much do you pay in order to get all your supplies/ingredients and how often?
Welcome! If you're completely new to freezer meals, then I suggest that you start with doubling each of your dinners for a week. Eat one that night and freeze the other for later. At the end of the week, you'll have another week of meals ready to go and it will hardly take any extra time because you're just doubling your recipes. The cost really depends on the size of your family, where you live, and which recipes you choose (some proteins are way more expensive than others), but it saves so much money in the long run because you can buy things in bulk when they are on sale, food doesn't go to waste in your fridge because you intended to make certain meals but ran out of time, and you won't spend on fast food or packaged convenience foods because dinner is already made on those busy days. We do our mega freezer meal marathons (like this one) every three months. In between, I make breakfast, lunch, and snack freezer stuff. Hope that helps!
@@FreezerMeals101 That definitely helps! We are a 6 hour drive to the nearest Walmart or Costco, so I'll definitely have to plan a TRIP. Hahaha. Thank you so much! :D

Thanks so much Lynda! We include recipes that have various cooking methods because then depending on what we have going on that day, we can choose a meal that fits what we need. Some get cooked on the skillet, some in the slow cooker, and others in the oven or even the BBQ.

I’ve seen others mix Meat balls in batches of ingreds in the kitchen aid to do the mixing or a processor to make that mixing easier. Worked great and saved a lot of mixing time. Just adding my 2 cents ,
Can you please open the link for the red sauce? I am prepping ahead for a big meal prep day here with some pregnant ladies and I would love to use it to save us some $$$
They are Whirlpool. With a large family, I've found it so much easier to have a full fridge and full stand up freezer. I'm thankful that both fit in my kitchen.
Freezer cooking (especially doing many meals at once) saves a lot of money. Some of the ways it saves money include buying in bulk, buying by the case lot, having nothing go to waste (like when you buy produce with the intention of using it but eventually have to throw it away because your meal plans didn’t go as planned!), and never needing to buy expensive convenience items or having to pick up take out because dinner is already made. We also plan our recipes around what’s on sale, so that saves even more money. The actual cost varies because the cost of groceries are so variable depending on where you live. We are in Canada where grocery prices are higher than the United States and where there are stricter coupon laws so although we still save a lot of $ cooking this way, we could save more if we lived in certain areas in the States (but even there, costs vary greatly from place to place).
The best sloppy joes I have ever had the recipe came from the girl scout handbook. It called for browned ground beef, ketchup, mustard and a very odd ingredient Cambles chicken gumbo soup.

I need the reciept for that red sauce. Love the channel
I cannot wait to start this I’ve never frozen a meal before also do I need to specific freezer zip lock bags or any zip lock bags
We find that the brand name bags work best as when we’ve used the less expensive ones, we’ve sometimes had problems with leaking. And be sure to look for the ones that are for the freezer. Let me know how it turns out!
Thanks heaps I sure will my supermarket did not have any freezer zip lock bags but managed to get the finer freezer bags but I’ll have to triple them 😌
Corn Chowder is our fav of the kids (grown) g-kids (grown too in their 20's) and Great g-son - Corn Chowder for the win!
OMG! OMG! OMG! I am so excited and I haven't even watched it yet. Do you know when you might be doing meals for one again?
I have some meals for one ideas in the video as I took some of the meals and put them in smaller containers or bags for my dad and mother-in-law so hopefully you find those helpful!
@@FreezerMeals101 Thank you, I see that now. Finished watching and I really like the segments with you and Kristy (sp?) together. Great camaraderie
WOAH! That's a lot of yummy looking food :) What a fun but productive way to spend time with a friend :)
I have a question about the jalapeno popper chicken meal - how do you cook that one?
Thank you for the terrific video!
Thank you! For the jalapeno popper chicken, you can either cook it in a casserole dish in the oven (350° for about an hour) and serve it with rice or pasta or you can cook it in the slow cooker and then shred it and serve it on buns.
@@FreezerMeals101 Thank you!
The Egg Roll in a Bowl looks delicious!! Is there a link for the recipe?
You can find the recipe here: freezermeals101.com/egg-roll-in-a-bowl-freezer-meal/
Wow. I came across you by accident. I love batch cooking here in the UK. You two ladies are marathon athletes at this. Love some of your recipes which are totally different to the uk but well worthy of trying out. Thankyou for your video x.
Thank you so much! We're glad you're here.
Karen, do you have any UK youtubers you would suggest watching for any batch cooking?
When it clean up time, it is time to get the kids help, if they want to eat that is. Lol
Love love love you guys. We don't seem to do much of this in Australia. What's the best way to then cook these meals ? Love the variety of meals !!,
Thanks so much Lynda! We include recipes that have various cooking methods because then depending on what we have going on that day, we can choose a meal that fits what we need. Some get cooked on the skillet, some in the slow cooker, and others in the oven or even the BBQ.
I love soup in the summer
I'm allergic to shellfish! so do you think I could put chicken in there instead of the shrimp! thanks girls you guys are doing so well and you're a good team! I enjoy watching You to! It is good to see that two girls can be such good friends and get along so well thank you so much for your videos God bless both of you!❤
You could probably substitute chopped chicken. I don't see why not. Give it a try!
Thanks for watching. We do have a really lovely relationship. 😊
Great job!!!!we just love this channel
Thank you 🤗
I’ve seen others mix Meat balls in batches of ingreds in the kitchen aid to do the mixing or a processor to make that mixing easier. Worked great and saved a lot of mixing time. Just adding my 2 cents ,
Thanks for the tip!
Hello do you put the meals in a freezer always or you can put them into a fridge too and they would stay well
Hi Lida. If you put the meals in the fridge, they would only last a few days. In the freezer, they last at least three months.
Some countries like mine have banned plastic completely and we no longer have them. So what can we use instead of ziplock bags?
You can use silicone freezer bags such as these ones: amzn.to/3kepdYu We have tried several brands. Some have different types of closures at the top.
Freezing stuff flat is often faster/safer but using freezer safe containers and keeping inventory should work similarly.
Incredible! Stumbled across your channel and obsessed and inspired! Subbed!
Awesome! Thank you!
Can you please open the link for the red sauce? I am prepping ahead for a big meal prep day here with some pregnant ladies and I would love to use it to save us some $$$

Thank you for all the fantastic inspiration! Is there a recipe that could be printed for the Egg Roll in a Bowl?
Sorry for the delay Sharri. You can find the egg roll in a bowl recipe here: freezermeals101.com/egg-roll-in-a-bowl-freezer-meal/
What kind of fridge/freezer do you have in your kitchen? I've been looking for a larger size and yours looks super!
They are Whirlpool. With a large family, I've found it so much easier to have a full fridge and full stand up freezer. I'm thankful that both fit in my kitchen.
So how much does 150 freezer meals cost? Does it save money or just time?
That sounds very interesting! I wouldn't have thought to ever add chicken gumbo soup mix to sloppy joes!
What about using a cookie scoop for meatballs? Would get them all same size, not so much packing/work meat
Bravo! A lot of work but soooo worth it. You HAVE to share the details on the 'Cajun Butter Salmon", though. There are too many online ... which one does Christie use?
😳!!! 150??? New here. New subbie!!!🤗
We were shocked too. It’s a new record for us. Welcome!
Full watch and saved for future reference
You ladies done a great job Just came across your channel, I am glad I did
Thank you so much!
Yes. I knew it was a good Idea to freeze stuff flat in bags. My mother still freezes everything in boxes and Bulky knoted bags, but keeps locking at me Like I am the bold one😂😂😂 IT goes very well for single portions too
Wow...so amazing! I often make freezer meals as gifts for several friends... eggroll in a bowl... how well does slaw mix freeze? Is is super wet upon thawing?
The slaw mix holds up well in this dish. Once it's cooked in the skillet, it's got the same texture it would if you made egg roll in a bowl fresh.
Indeed.
How much did it cost to make those 150 meals? I'm getting ready to try preparing freezer meals, but not on such a grand scale, yet.
Bacon makes everything better! 🤩 This is amazing. There are only 2 people in my house, so all of this would last us a really long long time even though my boyfriend eats 3x's more than I do.
I have a video on freezer meals for one or two if you're interested. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/1dd9nBIK_nQ/w-d-xo.html
I actually did a whole bunch of new meals in single serving sizes today but that video won't be edited and ready until tomorrow or the next day.
I just hit subscribe. I learned so much in this video. Thank You
Awesome! Thanks!
Don't care this was filmed half a year ago. That mug Rocks!!! Heck yeah!!
I couldn’t find a link to Christy’s owl mugs! 😎😋🤗. I have at least 4 friends I’d buy a mug/cup like hers for there birthday/Chris Christmas pressies!
Christie made her owl mugs so they aren't available in a store. I know - They are adorable!
Can you post the name of the cookbook that you got the Large Batch Sauce recipe from please. Would love to try it

Curious on your general location? Sound possibly southern Ontario? If so, fellow Canadian, on the west coast.
I enjoyed this video. Checked your subs now, well over 1k! Congrats
We are in western Canada!
I feel so prepared!! Why did it take me sooo long to discover this channel!?
Glad you found us!
You two are awesome! I am so inspired to try this!
Thank you! Let us know how it goes for you.
U ladies ROCK!
Regarding the beef hash....couldn't you put the cheese baggie inside the bigger baggie, so it wouldn't be possibly having the staple let go?
If you prefer to do that, you absolutely can!
They have bigger than gallon si?e bags. I think 2 gallon. I put the main in a gallon the put the toppings in quarts. Then put all in a 2 gallon bag. No need to worry about not having all that you need. I also sharpie any broth I may need once putting in to cook so no oops mistakes of it gone.
You ladies are awesome!
