    I've been locked into the Purdy Chinex Elite, extra stiff for trim and cutting for years now.... I'll look into the Corona you are suggesting here though! Thanks for taking the time to review!

      So, just for the sake of being current, I pretty much only use the Vegas for specialty applications like handrails and things like that. For trim, doors, walls (pretty much everything) I’m using the Corona Cortez. That’s my main jam for pretty much everything and what I’d recommend trying out. If you like a squared off brush then go for the Monterey

    I'd definitely be interested in seeing what baseboards youve brushed look like up close after its dried. Trying to figure out if my work is passable or if I need to sand it down and start over.

      The next video may help with that. Keep in mind when you’re looking at your work to look at and judge it from the vantage point that most people will be seeing it from. It’s unlikely you’ll be looking at your baseboard from a few inches away like you do when you’re painting them.

      @@SuperVassarBrothers For sure. I ended up just accepting the lines are okay. As long as you do it cleanly and try to keep them straight it actually ends up looking cool. Our walls are flat off-white Super Paint from the builder, and now in the room I redid all the trim is semi gloss Enerald Urethane in Extra White. Emerald Urethane is so nice. Its like the difference between a plain white car or a fancier pearl white car. Hard to describe but I can't wait for the day when our house is 100% redone with Emerald

    I'm in the middle of a project where I'm changing color and sheen in a powder room...Yesterday, I cut in and rolled the ceiling, walls and trim with SW Premium Wall & Wood Primer...As I was coating the trim as well, I chose to use the Corona Vegas to do "all" cut ins...The primed trim looked awesome with the Vegas, but the wall cut ins looked "streaky"...Today, I did a second coat of cut in and rolling...This time, the trim and ceiling wasn't included (because they already looked awesome)...Part of the problem was that the walls were already covered with a sheen higher than flat (the ceiling had contractor paint and the trim was just "factory" primed"...This time, I cut in the walls using a Corona Cortez...Perfect...Recommendation: Cortez on walls and Vegas on trim (don't interchange them).

      That’s a solid move. I’ve been experimenting with a number of brushes recently and I pretty much use the Vegas brushes exclusively for specialty projects. Pretty much using the Cortez for everything and sometimes the Monterey. The Vegas ends up being too slow with some of the trim paints that I’ve been using.

    I went to my local Ben. Moore paint store ready to pick up both to use on my dining room and was so disappointed to find they didn't carry it!

      Awe, I’m sorry. That’s a bummer! You can find them on Amazon sometimes for a decent price.

    My favorite brush: The Zibra 2 inch Chisled Wedge. I use it for all my cutting in and trim work. Best brush ever.

      Really? I saw one in a shop here in Ireland yesterday, I'd never heard of them and I'm on a brush since 1984

      I've had a couple of them. I'm a contractor, I do full remodels, and I'm usually wore out by the time I get to the painting stage. I really love the way they lay down a line. The main problem with them is the ends of the bristles start fraying out quickly

    Saw this video (I am a fan) and bought the Vegas and Cortez. You are so right. They are now my favorite go to brush. Just made the rest of my collection worthless. That angled chiseled feature is great and they hold paint so well. Thank you for the tip.

    Those brushes are ideal for moldings but too soft for flat trim.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yeah? I use them all the time on flat trim. They’ve become my crews go-to trim brush for pretty much all the trim work we do.

      @@SuperVassarBrothers best to use a whiz roller if the trim is flat. you'll see the brush marks. And a roller is a lot faster.
