growing up in houston a staple of all our childhoods was running around at recess screaming “IM JIM ADLER THE TEXAS HAMMER”
Lol We had ATTORNEY STEVE LEE that was a stiff ... then Smith & Hassler that had celebrity spokespersons ... then there was Crazy Jimmy and his hammer!
Him and Mattress Mack are crucial parts of the Houston mythos
Here where I live in Ohio we got Tim Misny making them pay. There's an actual sign I can walk to that's just a heavily cropped shot him doing the rock one-eyebrow face and nothing else because he's so well known that's all you need. I also met a guy who had a t-shirt with his face and the caption "Tim Misny made me PAY! ...for this shirt"

I'm guessing that's your "hammer time".
I mean I have been seeing his bill boards and commercial's for over 20 years. Hell I bet there are even older gems than that.

Jim Adler forced Jon to release videos more often after he hit me with a hot dog stand in NYC. You’re welcome people.
Thank you legend🫡 you will never be forgotten🫡

As a native Texan, Jim Adler commercials were a staple in our household. My siblings and I would just go around screaming “I’M JIM ADLER, THE TEXAS HAMMER” all the time.
This is the man we show the aliens when they say "take me to your leader".

As a Texan, I'm 15 seconds in to this video and I'm absolutely shocked. This is one of our native heroes, I can't believe Jontron is doing a video on him. He's just something we grew up with.
It be like him doing a video on Mattress Mack. I’d be in actual tears if he did.
It’s truly a tasty treat
Finally something for us millenials
I'm getting hopeful for a mattress mack vs Joel olstein video now
Thats exactly what i was thinking
We need an epic crossover with Jim Adler and Phil Swift.

I cannot even begin to describe how surreal it is to see this in my sub-feed as a Houston native. This man is such a deeply ingrained part of my childhood.
You have to understand, we Texans grew up with Jim Adler, so the Texas Hammer is the closest thing we have to a super hero after Roger Staubach or Jamie Foxx. We've all heard the commercial so many times it's like a core developmental memory at this point, and his family is basically our extended marvel universe.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I remember his ads being everywhere on the radio
What about Stone Cold Steve Austin??
No way you said Jamie Foxx is a Texas hero, but not Chuck Norris.
it's crazy seeing how old he is now

I'm pretty sure his Texan accent on the Spanish is actually significantly more understandable than the million "support techs" with immense Indian accents we've all talked to.
If you’re a white guy speaking phonetically accurate spanish and they can tell its not your first language, the latter will accuse you of being a fed.
I have to imagine most Tejanos are used to Spanish being smothered in Southern drawl by non-Hispanics, but I am neither Texan nor a native Spanish speaker so what do I know
Very much
I mean, he clearly has the thick accent, but he used perfect grammar
@@user-cd3zd9yu5w Agreed, it's just a tex mex accent, most older white folk that speak Spanish talk like that
Semi Truck: How do you keep getting those hammers?!
Jim: Hammer Machines son.
You can't hurt me, Mack!
Jim Adler has been screaming at us for like 30 years. His son is on his new billboards and has that "I don't want to be here" look
IMO, he isn't as convincing as his dad when he says he's The Texas Hammer.
@@noelr1010 he knows there’s only one Texas Hammer, and it’s Jim Adler.
It's because he knows he's more the Texas mallet, than the hammer.
Oh god. I wonder how that poor guy grew up.
If the Avengers had called the Texas Hammer, it would have been a very short movie.

Growing up in Texas, running through the house screaming "IM JIM ADLER, THE TEXAS HAMMER" while waving an actual hammer at my siblings was a larger part of my childhood than it maybe should've been.
As a DFW native, these commercials are an absolute staple of local broadcasts. So glad he's still doing them.
Jim Adler is a legend; there's a segment on 94.5 The Buzz in the mornings where he reads off lyrics to nu metal and alt rock songs, and people have to guess the song and artist to win a prize
That's awesome
Texas can't be real
@Xatzimi As a born Houstonian who grew up seeing Jim's ads...no Texas isn't real.
It's a fuckin fever dream I've been living for 34 years.

My reaction to Jim Adler reading the lyrics to Control by Puddle of Mudd will be in the highlight reel of my life.
This man is a Texas Treasure. I never even thought about how people in other parts of the country aren’t aware of Jim Adler.

A deep delve into Texas lore was NOT what I was expecting from Jon.
Jon your editor's a freaking legend
H-town local here- Thank you for filling me in on the transition from Hammer Sr. to Hammer Jr. Papa Hammer has been doing this shtick for as long as I can remember. I moved states, moved back, stopped using cable, and then saw billboards of Sr. and Jr. together, thinking Papa Hammer Smurf was giving up the mantle. So very pleased to see this isnt the case and Old Man Hammer is still swinging
he hasn't personally handled a case in about twenty years, but is a great image for the company and continues to advertise. his firm takes on cases that are easy to win and they pocket a huge portion of the settlement.
"Since you're a dog, I've got the perfect name for you... Texas hammer" honestly... I wasn't expecting that and I laughed harder than I should have

Jim Adler's ads were inescapable if you grew up in or around Houston, but the CGI filled ads of him doing superhero stuff? That's definitely a new feature since I moved out of the state.
I respect the audacity of a man wielding a sledgehammer while yelling at a screen, “YOU GOT A BRAIN INJURY?! I’LL BUST UP THIS 8-WHEELER LIKE IT’S GTA TO MAKE SURE YOU GET PAID!” 10/10, it truly is Hammer Time.
As a Texan its bizarre to see "The Texas Hammer" acknowledged by anywhere else because its always just been one of those commercials or billboards in the background you occasionally make fun of, stuck in the back of our minds... like Mattress Mack.
I worked at a TV station in Houston for the past couple years and yeah, this video is hitting me over the head.

As a child of Texas, I grew up watching these commercials. Me and my Granny loved making fun if Jim Adler’s agressive way of saying “IM THE TEXAS HAMMER. AND I’ll FIGHT YUUU”. Friggin cracked us up 😂😌 RIP Granny. Thank you for this unintended trip down memory lane.
It’s Texas state law that every time a Texan picks up a hammer, they have to do a Jim Adler impression to the best of their ability..

Havent seen anyone mention how an 80 year old man lifted that hammer, one-handed, while seated like he was Thor, The Texas Hammer
Clearly he's worthy of the Might of Thor.
Maybe I am underestimating the fragility of the elderly but they are only like 20 pounds
I’m not saying that sledgehammer is fake, but… it’s definitely fake.
Holy shit, this guy is just Texan Saul Goodman.
I feel like this guy’s sales are gonna skyrocket after this video, similar to Phil Swift and Flex Tape.

This dude has been been burned into my brain since the early 2000's. You'd think the highly specific scenario of 18-wheeler accidents wouldn't have been worth much ad spend on channels like Cartoon Network or Nick. Not so! "Next time on DBZ...", and straight into the Texas Hammer. What a kooky character.

@@yaboileeroy3038Same for DFW.
Personal injury lawyers make bank. There's a reason why a certain kind of opportunistic lawyer is called an ambulance chaser. People get injured all the time (and because of trucker being a common job, 18 wheelers being involved is oddly common) and they get big payouts from insurance companies when they are (if they get a good lawyer).

Jim Adler has been at it for like 30-40 years. It feels kinda odd to be proud of growing up watching this guy on commercials scream at you.
There is a morning radio show that used to have a gameshow where Jim Adler read lyrics to songs in his iconic voice, and contestants had to guess the name of the song. Maybe some samples of it out there.
