I found myself here from mycology videos, I have wondered about this, sometimes I get sleepy/drunken -like from redbull after lunch or the seldom times I consume soda… understand there are many other factors.. I attribute it to being up early for work and a likely undiagnosed diabetic….

I know for a fact that I must have this syndrome. I do not drink alcohol, and sometimes I fall asleep, so dizzy that I feel like I was roofied.

In Jan 2020 I had a seizure and at the ER they treated me like an alcoholic. My blood alcohol was through the roof they said. I told them I don’t drink. They referred me to a neurologist and she told me about the alcohol and sent me to a gastrologist to figure it out.
I got treated and have been fine until today.. had a small seizure and my alcohol was .25 after not drinking anything and I’m back to getting treated.

I know someone that was an alcoholic so long that they even sound drunk when they are sober. Doctor say it will never change. I wonder if this could happen to people with auto brewery syndrome.

Oh no, that's sad to hear. Unfortunately some people automatically make these assumptions when they have no idea what the person is going through health-wise or just in general. Have you tried working with a GI registered dietitian?

When she was going over treatments, she didn't say how long we would need to be on this diet. A week? A month? Forever?

This makes me wonder if people with gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying or gastric dysmotility) are more prone to this problem. I have gastroparesis, and for a very long time, I would feel like I was going to pass out about an hour after eating. I was diagnosed as having severe hypoglycemia because I miserably failed a glucose tolerance test. But this has never completely added up. Keeping my carbs low helps. Treating my SIBO and leaky gut helped. But now I’m wondering if I have Auto-Brewery Syndrome. Alcohol can cause hypoglycemia. Also, does fermented foods like kefir, sauerkraut, kombucha, contribute to this problem?

I’ve been accusing my parents of covert administration for the longest after I eat I feel really weird but I’m too familiar with alcohol think it’s a strong possibility I find myself dozing off in the car and I’ve had gastro problems when I drink in the recent years. Do you think it’s a possibility?
