This week in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Link is shipwrecked, and awakens on the mysterious Koholint Island. He meets the residents of Mabe village, and an enigmatic owl. The owl tells Link he must awaken the Wind Fish if he wishes to leave the island. We're taking the first steps to awaken the Wind Fish by venturing into the first dungeon in the game, Tail Cave.
Legendary Adventures is a podcast dedicated to exploring the evolution of the Legend of Zelda video game series by playing through each game in release order. Corrections:
1. There is a reward for collecting all the Mario Statuettes, it's a chamber dungeon piece and a discount at the Trendy Game. I forgot.
2. Moldorm is not the first boss to speak in the series, both Blind and Ganon has lines in A Link to the Past. He's the first to speak in this game, and all bosses will have lines which is why it struck me differently.
New information:
You can get bombs before Tail Cave in the Gameboy versions, you just need to acquire the shovel from the shop first. Once you have the shovel bombs will appear for sale. Bombs only appear after completing Bottle Grotto on the Switch Remake.
It may be smaller and a fair bit easier than pretty much every other LoZ game but I think it might be my favourite. Just a beautiful little masterpiece.

Let’s all give a shout out to the music in this game even in the original version! I personally love Mabe Village, TalTal Heights, and Marin’s Song.
My own memories of this game were those of a 13 year old who accompanied my parents along with my four siblings on a medical mission to the former Soviet Union in the mid 90’s. We had this game and a few others and along with picking up reading and a love of history I remember wandering around this world that was far bigger then it had any right to be and simple enjoying life.
I agree, the soundtrack for this game is really strong!
Such a great soundtrack! And thanks for sharing your memories of this game. I have a lot of nostalgia for Ocarina of Time. I discovered Link's Awakening much later, but really enjoyed it.

Just finished the Ocarina's first part, and went back to watch Link's Awakening through! These are so good. I've shared it with a few people I think would be interested, and they seem to be. I really hope this channel blows up! Its great!
Was my first zelda , so this is zelda for me. I have a poster of the game in my gaming room and also the special edition that came out a couple of years ago. The game is something special, the characters, the music, the whole atmosphere and story is different than most zeldas. Only majoras mask is really close to that for me.
Best song is from the mask temple theme from Gameboy.
Just found out that the mask Temple is called face Temple in English, weird 😅.
The new version sounds different.
I think the weird placement of the mini boss is to set up a portal for players to return to the main boss quickly if they die. I died a lot to the boss of dungeon 2 as a kid, and I wish the portal in that dungeon was closer

you can have bombs, a bow and shovel going into tail cave if you steal them from the item shop into before heading to the tail cave
13:22 acually yes you can. Town Tool Shop. Ten bombs for ten rupees; no strings or prerequisites (yeah like having to get bomb bags in the 3D Zeldas.. and minish cap.. as well as the bomb rune in breath of the wild) attached. Of course one can always steal the bombs from the shop Although this is harder in the remake (remaster?) on Switch 😏
Edit: okay, apparently you have to steal or buy the shovel in order for the bombs to appear
I was pretty sure I remembered the bombs not appearing in the shop at first, so I did fire up a new file on the DX version, and the bombs were not there. Not before Tail Cave, and not even after. I'm not sure what the trigger is to make them appear. Do you know any way to make them appear prior to Tail Cave?

Going to test the DX version..
@@legendaryadventurespod and I got loz ladx v1.2 and it's the same as the GB version, buy or steal the shovel from the town tool shop

Don't both Ganon and Blind talk to you before their flights in LttP?
That's true, it hadn't crossed my mind while recording. I think Link's Awakening hit me differently because every boss speaks before the fight and many speak after they are defeated as well.
Thats not true. There is a reqard for collecting all the Mario dolls.
My mistake. I did not recall getting a reward when I collected them all on a previous playthrough. I see there is a Chamber Dungeon piece, and a price reduction at the Trendy Game. Those rewards obviously did not make much of an impression on me.
I guess I missed my chance for being a smart ass. Your reward is a pile of 💩 Yes those chamber pieces are undesirable.
Side note. Just found your channel. I look forward to seeing this series. I never cared for Zelda, except Links Awakening. I booted up the Snes thing on the Switch. I never realized the Link to the Past was so similar.
