I've networked for at least the past two decades in my five decades in sales and have learned a lot! Very simply, my suggestions are to join a group, or organization that supports your industry. Attend all the events, be sure to make new connections and follow up with the key one-to-one meeting. Then if this is the right organization for you go deep by joining a committee and then get on the board! You'll expand your network exponentially by doing these things! And that will all be in my upcoming book, Networking Works. Nice video.
