  • Is the software that runs life the result of accumulated copying errors? Or does it require a programmer? This episode of Science Uprising examines how Microsoft founder Bill Gates, geneticist and entrepreneur Craig Venter, and even evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins all acknowledge that DNA is like software. But how was that software created?

    Science Uprising
Well-known scientists have been preaching a materialistic worldview rather than presenting the public with all the evidence. We are here to change that. The objective scientific evidence does not prove our universe is blind and purposeless. It does not show we are simply meat machines. It does not prove that evolutionary mechanisms can completely account for the diversity of life on earth. This is what THEY want you to think. Think for yourself and make an informed decision.
Are you ready? The uprising has begun.

I assure you totally that I'm enormously interested in understanding things as they are, and I'm agnostic most of the time. The problem with this video, however, is the emotional overcharge in the end, that destroyed whatever scientific substance there was. Why don't you forget about your beliefs and express the facts as they stand? Such approach would make all those who look for the truth find confidence in your work.
    Thank you!

Although the video did have a slightly cheesy ending, if you were really searching for truth as you say, then the ending shouldn't "destroy" the scientific claims made prior to it, right? I agree it could have been less gratiutous to the creator's (pun not intended) leaning of beliefs and conclusions, but this doesn't squash the science.

It is indeed time for a new age of scientific enlightenment. Are we not to follow the data wherever it may go? If science is but a model of reality, ignoring that underlying reality does not deepen our knowledge of it. We demand higher precision in our modeling - in our science - in our knowledge.

    The problem of information
Norbert Weiner - MIT Mathematician - Father of Cybernetics
"Information is information, not matter or energy. No materialism which does not admit this can survive at the present day."
    It has to be explained:
    - a library index and fully automated information classification, storage and retrieval program ( chromosomes, and the gene regulatory network )
    - The origin of the complex, codified, specified, instructional information stored in the genome and epigenetic codes to make the first living organism
    - The origin of the genetic Code
    - How it got nearly optimal for allowing additional information within protein-coding sequences
    - How it got more robust than 1 million alternative possible codes
    - The origin of the over twentythree epigenetic codes
    - The origin of the information transmission system, that is the origin of the genetic code itself, encoding, transmission, decoding and translation
    - The origin of the genetic cipher/translation, from digital ( DNA / mRNA ) to analog ( Protein )
    - The origin of the hardware, that is DNA, RNA, amino acids, and carbohydrates for fuel generation
    - The origin of the replication/duplication of the DNA
    - The origin of the signal recognition particle
    - The origin of the tubulin Code for correct direction to the final destination of proteins
none of the above items can be explained by evolution since evolution depends on all this.
    1. Regulation, governing, controlling, recruiting, interpretation, recognition, orchestrating, elaborating strategies, guiding, instruct are all tasks of the gene regulatory network.
    2. Such activity can only be exercised if no intelligence is present if the correct actions were pre-programmed by intelligence.
    3. Therefore, most probably, the gene regulatory network was programmed by an intelligent agency.
    1. The setup of functional Information retrieval systems, like a library classification system, is always tracked back to intelligence
    2. The gene regulatory network is a fully automated, pre-programmed, ultra-complex gene information extraction system
    3. Therefore, its origin is best explained through intelligent setup
    1. DNA stores information based on a code system, and codified, complex, instructional information, with the same function as a blueprint.
    2. All codes and blueprints come from intelligence.
    3. Therefore, the genetic code and the instructions to build cells and complex biological organisms, stored in DNA, were most likely created by an intelligent agency.
    1. Cells use sophisticated information transmission and amplification systems (signalling pathways), information interpretation, combination and selection ( the Gene regulatory network ) encoding and transcription ( DNA & RNA polymerase machines ) transmission (mRNA), and decoding ( Ribosome ) systems.
    2. Setup of information transmission systems, aka. transmission, amplification, interpretation, combination, selection, encoding, transmission, and decoding are always a deliberate act of intelligence
    3. The existence of the genetic information transmission system is best explained by the implementation of an intelligent designer.

*_“All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind (i.e. Observer). This mind is the matrix of all matter.”_* Max Plank (the Father of Quantum Physics) ...
It is curious how Max Plank's conclusions were so revolutionary in the field of science / physics (i.e. the immaterial (non-material) reality of nature and "the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind" as the ultimate force behind the fabric of reality). Yet, when microbiologists. biologists, geneticists, biochemists, other scientists, etc. come to the same conclusion (i.e. Intelligence / consciousness / mind is an integral and fundamental force behind the initial introduction and subsequent propagation of biological systems), they are rebuffed as being "unscientific".
*Matter cannot exist without physical laws and constants first existing. Physical laws and constants cannot exist without mind / consciousness / intelligence first existing. Mind / consciousness / intelligence is Prime. Mind Exists Before Matter.*

I got a bs in computer science. I remember we had to program really simple tasks like add two numbers by adding ones. Multiplying two numbers by counting down while tabulating the results each time until your countdown reached zero.
How many times did we screw up the program by forgetting a comma, a quotation mark, replacing a lower case with a capital, spelling the variable incorrectly. Incorrect spacing missing parentheses. The longer the program the harder it is to keep it working. Changing one character anywhere in the program incorrectly prevents the Operating system from even running it. Changing a variable potentially gives you bad output.
I could never get biologists who would say that DNA is code then say life progresses through accidental changes in the code. I have first hand experience accidentally changing code and seeing my baby program crash on start.
Its not possible. At that point you are literally assuming that your change doesn't affect the code in a negative way only in positive way or not at all which doesn't make sense.
For Code to be that resilient it requires incredible knowledge and foresight to design a language that can tolerate so much fault without crashing on random mutations or changes. You can't accidentally build a language like that. And i don't believe any current or past programming language created by humans has accomplished this.

    • @Snollygoster-
      @Snollygoster- 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You're very right. This is why biologists aren't computer programmers. The term "Code" is not to be used interchangeably with "code" for programming languages. They're not even close to the same thing.
DNA has loads of redundancies and only four characters for its language with essentially no syntax beside start and stop. It's not complex in this regard which is why it's so resilient, cause then you would need an intelligence to deal with it.

DNA didn't appear by chance, it's a step by step process. You didn't leave your house in the morning and just appear outside your place of work you put one foot in front of the other that's how you got to your place of work.
Life fights every second of everyday to exist, try holding your breath for 30mins. You can't, why not? Your body won't let you die! It doesn't matter if you are bacteria, a single cell life form or a Human being the fight to exist is within all life forms. If the environment changes you will do whatever it takes to continue to exist and if that means changing yourself to fit the new environment then that's what you will do!
It makes me laugh when people say about the big bang, how can everything come from nothing? A singularity is NOT nothing!

Asking how the code in the DNA got "written" or established is a hard question. The Darwinian answer is debatable. The Darwinists have what they think are explanations for all the objections made in this video. But there is a harder problem which they cannot explain and it is obscured by an ambiguity in our use of the word 'code'.
In the sense of the video, the word 'code' is used as a programmer would use it to identify the program. We use 'code' as a verb to talk about the activity of writing code, which is a noun. We use 'program' as both a verb and a noun in the same way. But we also use the term 'code' in a completely different way when we refer to, say, Morse code, or ASCII code. Here we mean the assignment of a certain set of symbols--dots and dashes in the case of Morse Code and zeros and ones in ASCII--to something meaningful. Dots and dashes are assigned to letters, numerals, punctuation etc. in the case of Morse Code, and the zeros and ones in ASCII map into letters, numerals, op codes, etc,. The Morse code can be displayed on a sheet of paper showing the pairwise assignments, and the ASCII code can be displayed on a card with 256 entries showing its assignments.
The question in the video is how did the code in the genome get written. That is equivalent to asking how the apps in your smartphone got written. That's a hard enough problem. But the harder problem is how the genetic code itself, in the second sense of the word get established. That code consists of the assignment of triples of the four bases to the 20 amino acids that are used in proteins. How did those assignments get made?
The genetic code assigns each three-letter combination of the letters A, C, T, and G, to one of 20 amino acids. There are 64 combinations which are called codons. The equivalent of the ASCII card, or the Morse code sheet, is a set of 64 different strings of base pairs in the genome. Each of the 64 strings, when opened up and copied onto a strip of RNA, produces one molecule of tRNA. That is the equivalent of one line of the ASCII card in that it assigns just one amino acid to one particular codon. So, all 64 of those separate strings on the genome had to be constructed at nearly the same time, and all be in agreement with some master assignment table, which exists nowhere in biology that anyone can find. And the fact that just getting copied out into the tRNA molecule requires enzymes that depend on that very code makes it seem impossible without a mind being involved in dreaming up the code in the first place.

He really breaks down the probability calculations referred to in this video. Did not realize how much Stephen Meyer resembles Saul Goodman :^) Meyer also does a good job of pointing out how our understanding of the cell's architecture has evolved since the time of Darwin. In Darwin's time, with only poor microscopes available, cells were thought to be "blobs of goo". If Darwin had had even the foggiest idea of what's really happening inside every living cell, would he have come to the same conclusions? Probably not. Reminds me of the "can a tornado blow through a junk yard and assemble a 747?" idea.

Besides where the DNA came from, there is also the matter of why does it work? What is the "computer" that is using the DNA "program" to build the life form? DNA is stored information. But stored information does not "do" anything. The best explanation I see is that there is a spirit in all life forms that is causing the DNA information to be used.

It is true that within species natural selection occurs, but natural selection cannot occur until the selections exist. And starting from a world with no life, no cells, no organic molecules, it is totally unbelievable that the beautiful, super complex, interconnected life on our world could evolve just by natural selection.

I think TJ was on to something - "The truth is, that a Pigmy and a Patagonian, a Mouse and a Mammoth, derive their dimensions from the same nutritive juices. The difference of increment depends on circumstances unsearchable to beings with our capacities. Every race of animals seems to have received from their Maker certain laws of extension at the time of their formation. Their elaborative organs were formed to produce this, while proper obstacles were opposed to its further progress. Below these limits they cannot fall, nor rise above them. What intermediate station they shall take may depend on soil, on climate, on food, on a careful choice of breeders. But all the manna of heaven would never raise the Mouse to the bulk of the Mammoth. Code that is so complex, there is little understanding as to it's capabilities. Example:
The chances of each piece of digital biological “software” (4 bit code ) to appear by happenstance is One in 48 ~ followed by 48 zeros, to
One. DNA is the Literal Software that makes up the Type and Kind of Species that exists. The Codes Must line up exactly or there is complete failure of that particular Code.
Then there are additional problems associated with Darwin’s Evolution Theory:
Spontaneous Generation, Irreducible Complexity, Entropy - evolution defies Natural Selection (entropy), Fossil Records, Bio Genesis,
Genetic Complexity, Law of Information Systems, Beneficial Mutations, Statistical Mathematics, Mendel’s Laws of Genetics,
Specific Complexity, Information Theory, Symbiotic Systems. Basically, this is the point of study.

Well except for one major flaw in this argument. DNA is not a digital code. It is described as such to make it easier for people to visualize and understand, because it functions in a similar way. BUT !!!! The DNA structure is COMPLETELY different than a written computer code, and pretending that they are the same is disingenuous.. Or just a lack of education

I will give you one example of a random chance happening.
How many breaths of air does a Human take in it's life from birth to death? The average person takes between 17,280 and 23,040 breaths a day. Lets just say in a lifetime a Human breathes 1 billion times. Airborne pathogens are randomly floating in the air, it is random chance that you happen to be in front of the pathogen when you next take a breath. Inside you it finds an environment in which it doesn't just survive but it flourishes and multiply's.
So yes, random chance happens all the time ;)
