  • Materialists insist the universe is in no way specially intended for human life. That contention can’t survive an encounter with Michael Denton’s work. For more on this and Denton's new book, Wonder of Water, see evolutionnews.org/2017/10/wat....

for me the most wonderful thing about water is the way fresh water evaporates from the ocean is taken to a cloud which just happens to hover above the earth at the right height, does not freeze and then transports the fresh water to land where it just happens to fall to ground flow to the ocean and it all starts again. Ask any engineer who has to manufacture fresh water for a cruise ship and he will tell you that takes a lot of cleverly designed engineering to do it - it doesn't just happen. if the boiling point of water was lower the earth would drown. if it was higher it would be a desert. it just happens to be right where it is. The massive solar evaporators which are the oceans produce just the right amount of water to keep the planet alive. How can anyone say that just happened by chance?

I remember my first year of college in biology 101, we learned of the special characteristics of water. I then remembered the verse in the Qur'an where God says, "And we created every living thing from water..." What I learned in class further increased my faith in God and that He is, yes, worthy of worship. I would be unjust to myself to ignore of His signs.

For the Christians here, something I thought about is how these two cogs "Techtonic and Hydrologic" seem to fit the picture of Judgement and Mercy. Water being calm, merciful and soft as a virtue, along with the techtonic being volatile and aggressive as the hard virtue :) The perfect balance and union of The Law and Grace presented to us once again in Gods Created Order!

Fun Fact: the bible talks about the water cycle long before any sceintist "discovered them". Also, it talks about phenotypes from genes and how phenotypes may be different from heterozygous and homozygous... something that was not formaly discovered by scientists until Gregor Mendel. It can be found at Ge 31:10-12.

A single living cell has much more complexity than a smartphone. Looking at a smartphone we can immediately tell it is created by intelligent minds. But i don't know why in case of a living Cell it is considered to have no creator. So, if we say nature created a cell than nature is far more intelligent than us.

Michael Denton is brilliant in his analyses and this is another example. Not only has he written two excellent books that I have read - 'Evolution: A Theory in Crisis' and 'Evolution: Still A Theory in Crisis' but he has also inspired others, like Professor Behe to take a second look at the nature of reality. But it seems to me that young people especially are more prone to watching videos nowadays than reading weighty tomes. So videos like this become doubly valuable. Since Illustra Media is a non-profit organisation, perhaps it should consider putting all its wonderful videos like this one available for free on Vimeo and TH-cam.

Chapter Al-Anbiya (The Prophets), Verse 30:
Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
    Verse 31:
And We have placed on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein broad highways for them to pass through, that they may be guided.
    Verse 32:
And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.).
    Verse 33:
And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating.

Truly incredible of not one , bit just a few of the amazing quality's that water has for any possibility of life to survive and exist . According to most materialists , they consider this just another astronomical set of of chances that this required resource for all life has so many different quality's that don't apply to most other liquids.
Just one more pile of flukes and luck to add to Mt Lucky.

So without plate tectonics recycling back to the surface minerals washed away by water the surface would become barren and lifeless. Well then add a another one to the list, uranium and radioactivity. Without them the core would have cooled and brought plate tectonics to a halt. So many intricately intertwined details.

Who gave water all these properties? Did Hydrogen and Oxygen have a meeting to decide how they would combine to produce water and what will be its properties? Then they say that there is no Creator who predetermined every property of each and every particle, element and compound before the creation of the Universe.

I don't think this is a good argument for fine tuning. The fact is that the viscosity level of water, for instance, is finite. Its range is not that broad. There are also liquids of all types with different values of viscosity. Constants such as the Cosmological Constant is a single constant that can have near infinite values. See the difference?

Then will they not believe?" Ch 21 verse 30.... in otherwords, Allah (God) caused Big bang then made everything else from water... and most of ppl re learning that now. Claiming all the properties of water - fine. Real things self define by their characteristics.
Claiming water was made that way so life could be - is without evidence and displays thinking that has detached itself from observation as a basis for truth i.e. it has fractured the mind from it's source of truth, objective reality and there is no conscious thought without prior sense experience.
Describing water as true to itself in no way makes claims of it being designed for life true. In our experience we find the opposite to be true. When we want to make something we choose pre-existing materials that are fitting for what we want to make/do, this is experience based.
Matter is not created or destroyed. The claim for the creation of matter (water in this case) is not in accordance with observational experience.
    Cheers Sincerely David
