Stephen Meyer Shatters the Myth of the Multiverse (Science Uprising EP4)

  • Is our universe just an accident? Or does it display exquisite evidence of fine-tuning and intelligent design? This episode of Science Uprising investigates claims by scientific atheists like Lawrence Krauss and Bill Nye that our universe is nothing special and that the fine-tuning scientists observe can be explained away by the existence of multiple universes.
In his latest book, Stephen Meyer demonstrates how discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe. Be sure to visit scienceuprising.com/ to find more videos and explore related articles and books.
Featured experts include Bijan Nemati, Principal Research Scientist, University of Alabama, Huntsville, and former long-time researcher at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab; Frank Tipler, Professor of Mathematical Physics, Tulane University, and co-author of The Anthropic Cosmological Principle; and Stephen Meyer, PhD, Director, Center for Science and Culture, Discovery Institute and author, The Return of the God Hypothesis.

    Science Uprising
Well-known scientists have been preaching a materialistic worldview rather than presenting the public with all the evidence. We are here to change that. The objective scientific evidence does not prove our universe is blind and purposeless. It does not show we are simply meat machines. It does not prove that evolutionary mechanisms can completely account for the diversity of life on earth. This is what THEY want you to think. Think for yourself and make an informed decision.
Are you ready? The uprising has begun.
Visit the Science Uprising website at scienceuprising.com/ to find more videos and explore related articles and books. You can also find out more information about the people interviewed in this episode.

Interesting, although the lack of any evidence of intelligent life anywhere else in the universe somewhat counters the argument that this universe is perfectly suited for life if there’s virtually no life in it.
Also, suggesting Earth has perfect conditions for life seems to have it backwards to me as surely life evolved to cope with the conditions it found. Until we find more life in the universe we can’t really know if life needs such a narrow window of atmosphere and minerals to exist. If those conditions are as rare as it currently seems, that would argue against the universe being built for us.
The presence of the moon is an interesting one though. Its distance from Earth is so ideal that it allows us perfect views of the sun’s corona during an eclipse which is quite an amazing coincidence. Of course, the moon is slowly moving away from the Earth each year so sadly even that won’t last forever...

life didn't "evolve" in the sense of bottom-up macroevolution common ancestry, that is both logically and biologically impossible as there is clearly a huge difference between the various families, and between humans, animals and plants and everything is a top-down proccess of dna from what we observe today

"Far from exposing human beings as incidental products of blind physical forces, science suggests that the existence of conscious organisms is a fundamental feature of the Universe. We have been written into the laws of nature in a deep and, I believe, meaningful way...I cannot believe that our existence in this Universe is a mere quirk of fate, an accident of history, an incidental blip in the great cosmic drama. Our involvement is too intimate...*We are truly meant to be here*" - Paul Davies; a physicist, cosmologist, and astrobiologist.

Having not been trained in natural sciences, I and all other laymen on this field have to rely on scientists who know what they are talking about. I am somewhat uncertain what to think about ID because it really is a label that has received a lot of negative attention and I am not so sure if that is only due to defamation but maybe also due to using ID as a category by ID-supporters themselves (kind of like "either you are ID or you are a Darwinist"). I know about some other scientists who have no affiliation with ID as a scientific movement, some of them even being Darwinists, but having no problem with naturalistic explanations where they are reasonably applies (e.g. Theodosius Dobzhansky, George Ellis, Henry Stapp, Stephen Barr, etc.). But anyways, no matter whether some arguments are not so robust as they may appear at a later point in time, I am thankful for those kinds of information and debates because they nevertheless clearly show that there are a lot of open questions that have become doctrines for materialists and that their information, which they sell as fact, are nothing more but interpretations of scientific findings rather than facts that prove or disprove anything in the metaphysical realm. I am also thankful because, no matter who is in the end right with regard to scientific explanations, the information clearly exposes that materialist scientists hijacked science and deceive the public by pretending that the philosophy of materialism is necessary in order to do science (and to be honest: would I have not found scientists who expose the flaws of this enterprise, it would have left me with nothing more than with despair, those people are thugs). I guess that this will sooner or later backfire at them and discredit their philosophy. Ironically, the materialist hijacking of science is most similar to the banditry and the deception that some churches used in the middle ages in order to control people and to violate their area of competence.

Perhaps the lack of evidence "anywhere else in the universe" for life, could be for the simple reason that the "intelligent Designer" has something in mind other than creating life for the sole purpose of an arbitrary saltation of organisms throughout the universe en masse. In contrast, by creating "you/us" alone, it becomes an abundance of evidence to infer just how special by comparison we are. Seems like Genesis 1... As for the assumption that "life evolved to cope with the conditions it found" as one noted, life doesn't merely find a way. First, life must exist, before it can "find" anything. Second, a "way"(materialistic) must be feasible, and given the odds, it isn't. Search youtube: (Origin: Probability of a Single Protein Forming by Chance) and (James Tour: The Mystery of the Origin of Life) why it is not feasible. Third, to "find" is a goal directed word and intent laden with purpose, teleology as to assume that existence(of life/differential reproduction) matters. Fourth, if life is the consequence of any condition as assumed in the mantra "life finds a way" then given the abundance of variety of conditions in space, where are all supposed life forms everywhere else in the universe if the plasticity of "life finds a way" is meritable?

this video deserves much more success, I wonder what is due to the perversion of many individuals in wanting to reduce this miracle to a simple zero probability, even if our universe were one in a billion, as would however explain the perfection with which every mechanism of life is it perfectly set? Sometimes I think that many scientists just want to totally eliminate the possibility of the idea of a "higher intelligence" and that therefore they are directing their blind studies all in a direction that does not exist and that they would like to make sense of.

If you put logic and math into this, then there is a reason for everything. It’s kinda hard to explain on text, but here:
If the multiverse is real and the theory of the “dead/alive cell” is true, then the universe would be splitting up into two universes every infinite fraction of a second so there are infinite universes infinitely splitting. This is also due to the choices you make. In this universe, let’s say you decide to watch a movie and in another one, you don’t. That right there is logically impossible. There are so many factors to the decisions you make that makes it impossible for any other decision to be made. In this universe, you watch a movie due to the fact that it’s Friday, you just got off work, the new movie came out that day and many more factors that play in the role of you making your decision. If in another you universe you just decide not to watch a movie, that universe can not and will never exist because it’s impossible. You watch the movie that day BECAUSE of these reasons.
My point is, there’s a reason for everything and a logical explanation to every decision you make. The factors are physical features like “what you ate that day, or what time it is” and mental features like “are mad or sad, are a sociopath or a gentle person”

The arguments for intelligent design are convincing enough without the massive sound effects and cheer leading on offer here. These actually detract from the points being made by making them seem emotive, when they are purely rational. Emotion rarely wins an argument with anyone except the gullible, particularly in an age when it is unthinkingly accepted that the only way to prove anything is true is to have clear evidence or a tight chain of logic.
More important, the most powerful argument for intelligent design was left out. James Crick, one of the three (yes, there were three) discoverers of DNA, on which all known life depends, published a further paper in the mid 1950s in which he pointed out that DNA is code, just like the code used to program a computer. It happens to be a very sophisticated and truly massive code in fact.
Not one single instance had ever been discovered of any code whatsoever having been generated by anything but an intelligent agent.

I agree. The multiverse theory is a desperate attempt to explain away this unique fine tuned universe. If this fine tuned universe happened by mere-chance, that in itself would be a bigger miracle then if it happened by intelligent design. It would be like a massive puzzle 🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩 randomly but purposefully putting it self together.

Very true indeed! This is the difference between the skeptic and the cynic. The skeptic might be resistant to the truth due to their specific world view, but when faced with solid evidence against that belief, they will alter their position to accept the truth where it leads - regardless. The cynic, on the other hand, continues to grip their beliefs with a stronghold never weakened, no matter what the evidence presented to them reveals. This ideology is also referred to as delusional thinking. Time and time again, the materialist/naturalist position is shown to be inescapably weak, if not totally false. Yet, because of certain atheistic presuppositions, people will continue to hold onto such ideology because they have no other choice, unless they so choose to change their thinking. I am quite proud of those who have been confronted with the scientific reasoning of intelligent design and an intelligent mind, and those who have come to terms with their false thinking, and have exchanged their fallacies for a position that not only makes sense, but follows the evidence where it leads - to the best explanation.

I like this video, but the problem with the "building on a planet" analogy is that the atheists will say that we evolved on this planet because those things were here. So of course they help us, it's how we evolved. Just be aware they'll throw that argument at you.

    • @marcelotai1055
      @marcelotai1055 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. There is some circularity in the argument.
But it doesn't matter unless your main interest is to deny. Or enhance the deniability aspect of God's existance too much.
He even does not exist. (i.e. is somehow also Out of the realm of things existing).

Love the video, but could you also touch on Sean Carroll's argument that not only can there be a multiverse but that something can literally spontaneously come into existence out of nothing? He seems to believe a universe can create itself....

Can we please think for a second,
Let’s say you have a trillion-quadrillion whatever people and you have the same amount of boxes under one of these boxes is a chocolate. Each man is said to chose only one box.
Now the chances of finding chocolate are very low. But the one who finds it would feel as if it was purposefully there for him. While others would only know the reality. The reason why we think of the universe as purposeful is because we’re lucky and we’re EXTREMELY lucky. Our existence itself tells us how lucky we are. The people of the universes with imprecise gravity didn’t even exist incase we wanted to ask them. That’s exactly the problem. We can’t base our conclusion on only ourselves we need more examples but the problem is that we can’t know because the imprecise universes didn’t existed

    • @giorgirazmadze5102
      @giorgirazmadze5102 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The problem with your line of reasoning is that it implies having many tries to choose.
But in our universe case, the "chocolate picker" has only one try 😁
So, one try to choose from 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 boxes and get lucky is possible but not plausable ☺️

The video is very telling of not only the failure of scientific atheism to explain the origins of the universe
thru their possibly perceived , but likely deceived postulation of it's poor design design. But it also
showcases their complete lack of recognition and/or acknowledgement of the millions of nonessential
things that make life interesting and enjoyable. So , if we lived in this imperfect atheistic planet within
this imperfect universe , then we should be limited to only basic essentials to sustain life. Why we should
have only a dozen or so trees , flowers , animals and fish in our imperfect planet to sustain us . This would be
an ideal eviroment for the Krausse's , Coynes and Dawkins of this world since they might be able to make
a limited argument for their lack of one today. It's amazing how this Evolutionary Ideology imprisons ones
ability to recognize or perceive the magnitude of the incredible amount of purposed information needed
to engineer and create the life we see on this planet that pales everything humans have, or will ever create?
So when all science and common sense alludes your main tenets , blame it on God , or sorry lack of one?
