Are these sweet treats the best desserts in the world? I visited some of the most iconic dessert shops and bakeries in New York City, including Magnolia Bakery, Milk Bar and Levain Bakery. I was determined to try all the tik tok famous foods, like the magnolia bakery banana pudding, milk bar compost cookies and birthday cake and levain chocolate chip cookie. Wow now that you said it, there was totally a cupcake craze back in 2009ish. I don't remember the TV shows that much, but supermarkets selling baking books, cupcake/sweets shaped home decor, gadgets and stationery, cupcake prints on everything, cute pastel kitchen utensils definitely happened. As a 19 year old that liked cutesy things I bought and was gifted a lot of that stuff. This is also when my baking era begun and I'm happy to say that I still bake, although admittedly not as often as I used to. 🍩🍪🍰

I was underwhelmed with the magnolia banana pudding. But I guess because my mom makes banana pudding homemade and it’s amazing.
The Magnolia cheesecakes are underrated. I got one by mistake in an online order and loved it SO much more than the banana pudding. That was a happy accident :)
The magnolia exchange was spot on. I’ve been to two different locations, 4 times and each time customer service is meh. Even when you do know what to do, they act as if it’s some inconvenience to grab something. Chocolate cover strawberry pudding is the only thing worth the return and I hate when I crave it and know I gotta deal with them 😂

Finally lined up for Lune today and wow definitely nice but the line of people behind us was quite overwhelming
My baking phase was being obsessed with making macarons which lasted approximately 5 batches and then I never baked again lmao
Nooo you didn’t go to petit Chou! I live in NYC born and raised, Levain isn’t good as it was anymore (culture espresso and petit Chou have better cookies) and Magnolia’s is very over rated unfortunately! Pop up bagels is excellent though. Hope you loved your trip here!

New Yorkers can be a bit much and come off as rude but the old school core of people there with help you if you need help. They may insult you while doing it but they will have your back. LA people will be nice to your face but insult you behind your back and probably won’t help you. So don’t take it to heart. It was nothing towards you personally. It’s just how they are.
B**** probably isn’t from New York. Probably from Ohio or Pennsylvania or something like that and comes here and tries desperately to give off successful person/I’ve got more important things going on in my life, “I’ve got “projects” going”, but just comes off as pathetic.
It’s because we are busy and heading to work while you’re there on vacation, try being asked constantly for directions when you’re late on trying to enjoy a few quiet min.
you can get though type of sprinkes in aus I'm in vic and get them all the time. just at woolie or coles in the baking area.
Are they a special brand? Ive bpught the pretty coles brand pastel rainbow sprinks but they loose colour when baked:😢

So you have Aldi in AU? It is a sister store to Trader Joe’s. They have a cookie called the Kitchen Sink cookie which I think you would like much better. It’s not too salty and there are no pretzels in it. Yummy! They also have a maple French toast bagel that I am addicted to. Half a bagel with strawberry cream cheese and topped with fresh strawberries or raspberries is my favorite breakfast.

Magnolia cupcakes are basic, the frosting is amazing but the actual cake is boring and dry.
