Yeah they were just trying to upsell with the pants thing. Retail workers are pressured to do it by management. Some places even have a qouta and get lectured for not making the effort to upsell. It feels really scummy to go through though.
I know that some sales staff work on commission or are instructed by supervisors to REALLY interact with the customers, but even if well-meant I do not like anyone trying to talk me into anything even if I was already sold on it. Going to try that Smashbox X Becca under eye corrector, I have yet to conquer my under eye shadows. That video closer showing everything you did in NYC was epic!. I live on the eastern coast of U.S. and even then I do not accomplish that much when I visit NYC. Hope that you put your itinerary on a spreadsheet to keep track of it all for a future U.S. visit.
I think disagreeing with someone about how they feel is never a good sales tactic 😭 Like saying a reason for why you don't like something and then being disagreed with doesn't make me want to buy it 🤓 also that clip was only a tiny lil bit, we walked so much and did so much 😭 gotta make the flight count hehe! Thanks so much for watching 💖
Just imagine how many people got something because they were talked into buying it or overwhelmed and too polite in such an awkward situation 😢 kind of despicable and dishonest. Loving the second hand shopping experience through you though, thanks for taking us along❤
Same experience on American Eagle, it gets soooo awkward, the saleswoman handed me size 8 jeans, which is so sweet because I wear a 14/16 lmao It's like ma'm I just want a t-shirt
I heard thats the Aritzia company culture and that they do it in Canada too. The SA have a quota or performance they need to meet every hour and they try to guilt you into buying things. And it get removed from their quota if you come in to return something to the store, so they really give you the angry side eye if you want to return in person.
Buffalo Exchange has a mix of found vintage, new stuff made for B.E., and stock sell-off from other places. So if you go to several you will definitely see a lot of the same things.
the store at 19 minutes in would make me run for the hills! shopping tends to be a challenge, not having mirrors and having someone falsely upsell you and push you so much is NOT normal! coming from california standards anyways. I won't even go to a cashier at a grocery store unless I absolutely cannot use self checkout
Unfortunately that's how aritzia is set up. No mirrors so you have to come out to see the clothing and interact with the staff who are there to try and upsell you. Like some comments said a lot of them work commission and have sales quotas so they will push you. I can't go in there on my own since it's too stressful.
Ugh, I really don't like aggressive salespeople like that! I've never set foot in an Aritzia but I'm quite certain I would just leave if I experienced what you did.
Erk! I could NEVER with the Aritzia! That is definitely not the norm for shopping in the U.S. Most places will leave you alone or take a hint if you don't want them to bother you 😆. The creepy hard sell does NOT work on me (does it work on anyone?)
Ok but that Aritzia shopping experience sounds like an absolute scam. Aside from how awkward it would be to have to explain why you don't like an item to someone who won't take a no for an answer, trying to talk people into buying things that are too small or ill fitting is just gross. No matter how friendly and smiley the assistants, that is just despicable. Also, why are shops doing that thing with only one item on display and you have to ask for your size to try it on? I had similar shopping experience recently when shopping for shoes - assistants were only allowed to give you one pair at a time so if I wanted to try multiple models in multiple sizes I had to ask the assistant for each one separately. I ended up not trying all of them on and I didn't buy anything because I got fed up with having to ask every time. Surely they would sell more if they would have different sizes available on the shopfloor or at least would bring out multiple pairs to the client at a time?
Gosh that sounds weird. As a Dutch person that sales tactic so wouldn't have worked. We are very direct as a people. I would have told her that I understood she was supposed to upsell but that honesty would work far better on me.

the way this practice would drive a business into bankruptcy in 0.02 seconds where im from lol.
Buffalo Exchange is a chain. They do get new things from companies and not just from individual sellers.

Aritzia sounds like a nightmare to my anxious introvert ass omg.
I'm v much an extrovert but I was spooked 😭
