Five years later and this video is still helping people! My door was freezing to the ground and I used this to set it to stop just shy of touching so that it doesn’t stick to the ground again
Danny, it's rare for me to find instructions on exactly what I need to know. Your video was exactly what I needed to finish installing wiring on the ceiling for my new table saw. Great Job!
Having issue with my door and no luck locating owners manual ,8 year old liftmaster your video fixed me up saved a service call probably in the 90 to 120 dollar range .thanks again
Excellent tip about stopping the downward travel about an inch before hitting the ground. That’s crucial to keeping stress off the mounting bracket. My mounting bracket busted because someone who said it wrong and I had to reinstall it. This pro tip really saved today! Thanks, Danny
Danny you saved me at least $167 for a call charge they wanted for a 5 minute fix that you showed us. Also helped with the down door stress on the mounting bracket as mentioned before me.😀
Thank you. This video was a help. My opener started behaving funny following a power outage. One thing I will add, if you have an opener with a battery backup like mine and you’re trying to completely reboot, the unit you will have to pull the battery. I was going through the same sequence as on your video, but not getting the same result. So I figured a reboot would be a good idea. I unplugged the unit, but then remembered that I had a battery back up. It wasn’t until I disconnected the battery and then plugged the unit back in. Then got it to behave the way it should while resetting it.
the power glitched out while the door was in travel then it started to freak out if not for your video i would have been out of pocket $150 thanx you saved me $150 bucks
Video was extremely helpful. I replaced the T bar seal on the bottom of the door and the door wouldn’t stay closed. I followed your video to the letter and bingo! It now works perfectly! Thank you very much.
@@urheiness7 Sorry, but I'm not the guy you should be asking for advise on your gap at the bottom of the door; I'm just a guy that followed the instructions provided by the video. I suggest you either ask the video provider your question or look for a video that talks to 'gap at bottom of garage door'.
FYI folks.....great video in deed.... However if you go up and down to many times to set the limits the motor can get hot and protect itself and shut off. I learned the hard way to wait 30 min and try again after the repair man was out telling me nothing was wrong, but it was over heated lol.
Very informative and helpful as I need to stop my garage door from opening all the way. My favorite part of the whole video was when the door opened and BAM Screaming Yellow '04 Cobra. I have that same car lol. Bought it brand new in 2004.
Thank u .my exact problem! It's adjusted perfect now with no closing pressure. U saved me with inch of the ground method .thank u so much ,GREAT VIDIO!
Thank you! This is exactly what solved my problem. Only thing I had to do first was hit the yellow circle button for a few seconds to reset the system.
Thanks for the tip about stopping the downward travel just above the floor. Your video is the only one that I saw that mentioned that. One video said you can use both arrows to fine tune the stopping points.
Thanks for the video. I had an issue where the trolley was jammed up against the safety bolt on the rail close to opener unit. Had to remove the chain altogether to release the tension between jammed area and sprocket, and tried this adjustment. It did not register the up down limits properly. Found from this video and the liftmaster manual, that the trolley should be taken closer to the door and attached to the arm so that the calibration should always begin when door is closed. Setting the limits from door in closed position worked great
This exact same thing happened to me - however, I am able to set the upper and lower limits - but on the test run (final 2 steps) it travels up and stops at the open limit (opens) and then on traveling down (closed) it goes about 1/3 of the way and stops - giving me an audible alert of 5 beeps. I have verified that there is nothing binding, in the path of the door closing - and everything appears to be adjusted EXACTLY as my other garage door (10 feet away). Any advice?
Thanks for the video. It helped me 100%. I just bought this home the previous owners didn’t give me the code for the pin pad. I wanted to reprogram it and also reprogram the 2 controllers. It has a second attached garage. That one doesn’t have a pin pad but I only have 1 controller for that one. I don’t know if they lost the other one, if it only comes with 1 control or if they took the other control. That’s why I want to reprogram everything. Do you have a video on how to do that?
I have a few programming ones. I think the only one that talks about erasing old ones is for the car th-cam.com/play/PLIjr-uSYDZi5xpo7t07I8aY2FnZcPEq_W.html&si=plVSeWITV7cpU5gd
Thanks buddy. FYI the only difference for me was, stopping it an inch short of a full close will result in it being programmed that way. I had to redo it and let it close all the way before letting off the button, to get a proper calibration
The idea is that it keeps that programming and the last inch is a gravity fall so it doesn’t over-close. If it still ends up off the ground it isn’t needed.
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Yeah I know. I think the reason why mine does not have gravity taking over is for one it's a very low powered / slow moving door. It's also a half door made of lighter materials.
Great video. Only question is I do not need to adjust the door going down, I need mine to come up about another two inches. and is perfect right now going downward. Following what you did, will it then cause a needed adjustment lowering it? I mean do I need to do the hold down arrow when closing it to that whole step you did or just hit that middle button to remember the new up setting and thats it. Thanks.
You’ll only need it to adjust higher up if it’s over-closing. Your mounts may be higher to where full close position is correct. Mine is too low so it kept pushing
OMG this video saved me $130 service call! Took me a whole 5 min to fix! Thank you so much!!!
The absolute best video on how to adjust your garage door on youtube!!! Thank you sir

The 1/2 horsepower motor must be a Shetland pony instead of a Clydesdale horse.
Thanks! I replaced my garage door seal and ran into this problem. This solution saved me money.
Perfect explanation! Fixed my garage door issues in under a minute
Garage door got froze to the ground in the winter and messed up the calibration. This helped me fix it in 5 minutes. Thanks!

That’s very neat! You don’t see a lot of original owners
Had the opposite problem where it only closed 1/4 way. Used the button setup accordingly and the garage door is back in order, thank you good sir!
Thank you man!! The installer had my door SLAMMING shut so hard.
Thank you, Sir. People like you spend the time to share your knowledge and experience.

What if I only need to adjust how far up it goes? It's already going down fine so I don't want to mess with that. Thanks!
