This is an animation video I made as a fan edit.
In the game, the exact same scene takes place and Tali removes her mask too, but she's filmed from behind so you can't see her face.
So I recreated & animated that same sequence, but showing what we all wanted to see.
This video unfortunately cannot be modded into the game.

Yes. Why is it so hard to spend resources sculpting, texturing, animating, and rendering a brand new art asset that only shows up in one scene in some people's playthroughs?
Well considering how one person did this seemingly by themselves because they felt like it, no clue. Not sure how long it took him, but BioWare would've had more resources and personnel at their disposal.

Everything that happens in this video happens in the game as well. This video just shows it from a different angle, revealing her face (that is to some extent modeled after the stock photo used in game) to the audience. So this is indeed canon.

In defence of the (old) Bioware team, they had so much crunch, so much rush, so much pressure, I'm amazed that the game came out looking/playing as good as it did.
Huge respect to the fan-artist and deepest condolences to the old ME team for having their passions run through the machine so fast that it distorted their original vision.

I get what you mean, but thats not an excuse. this 20-second addition to the scene would have been THE defining moment for the trilogy for many of us. It would be well worth the expense of any side quest of DLC we received

That's what EA does they churn out memorable gameplay and stories into the grinder of making quick bucks every year on half finished projects. Tbh if they actually made a game for 70 to 80 dollars that had everything in it as a complete story but they took their time with it I would absolutely buy it ....but EA is the Jeff Bezos Amazon of game production.

They replaced the stock photo with an actual original work. So yes, they did do something. Just because it wasn't exactly what you wanted doesn't mean they did nothing.

@Guilherme Garcia Those two, Joker and Liara are the best friends one can have. Three of them stayed with you no matter what everyone else thought of you or how much they trash talked you. Liara saved you from collectors and even though she didn't help you against Collectors, if not for her, there wouldn't be Shep anymore.

In my mind, this is EXACTLY how Tali looks. Not only does the skin color and eyes match for what I'd expect from a humanoid alien, but the face and the voice complement each other perfectly.
This is Tali's canonical face, as far as I'm concerned.
i expected her to be pale, very very white, with pink areas aroung the eyes and lips, like someone who have immune system problems, like someone from finland, lmao.
Her face seems to match what we can see from behind the visor too, unlike the photo (both original and LE) we're given. My only gripe is that I dislike that her skin is purple (presumably just because her clothes are purple). Some of her early art depicts her with paper-white skin, and I think that would work fine so she still looks alien, plus the pale colour is reminiscent of someone with a weak immune system.
That's a pretty minor complaint though and just personal preference. I think this is otherwise the perfect quarian look and those eyes are doing things to me. I love my beautiful wife Tali so much.

I made the wrong choice at the end of that level and she ended up jumping from the cliff to kill herself. I was so sad, i had to reload and play it again to make a different choice to get her back..
Well she can’t take her mask off or she would die instantly because her race can’t breath the air except from their homeland. She tells us this in game.
Bioware: This looks good. We'd better not hire him for Andromeda.

This has been around for 5 1/2 years and BW STILL went with a picture at the end of ME3. Good job, man.
They face scanned Jessica Chobot for a character newly introduced in Mass Effect 3 (instead of putting Emily Wong on the Normandy), but just couldn't be bothered to do the same for a character that's been there since the first game.

It's no longer a photoshop, now you want it to be a model. Once it's a model, people will want it to look different. I dont know how you don't see the line of disappoint Tali's face will bring.
The best thing they could have done was remove the photo entirely and leave it a mystery.

With the few changes made to ME3 on the Legendary Edition, and I’m only speaking for myself, but BW righted quite a few wrongs there.

There is no gamepad support for ME 1 2 3 on PC. They need mods to work. Another thing that should of been in the game.
I didn’t mind the photo bit, it kept things more or less a mystery in a sense, instead of out right showing it, plays on the mind

When I saw unmasking ... I was like wait what ... I don't remember seeing this scene. Then I realised after 10 seconds It's fan made. I swear to god why couldn't bioware make something like this would've been so much cooler.

@@manwithamask2680 It's not an insta-kill, yeah she is exposed to diseases but it's not a 100% sure death, otherwise she wouldn't take the risk of banging shepard (if you romance her) which require removal of the suit
she did take off the mask and say that they just changed the angle so you didnt see it

Honestly I dont get the ME3 hate the game was awesome and everyone thought so until the ending. Ok fair but the extended dlc fixed the endings perfectly but everyone wanted to keep whining because it's the internet it's made for people to bitch and moan. Most of all though Bioware don't deserve any blame because EA made them rush two projects out when Bioware asked for more time DA2 and ME3 I like both games but both were unfinished on arrival.
I still hated the choices. Game was good, really good. one of the best imo. but the endings were horrible, which is EA's fault, not Bioware's
Sorry, but no. Extended ending made game ending even worse... Instead of fixing it they butchered it even more
I like to think that Shepard was indoctrinated. Like that the endings are only half the truth. Synthesis isn't this magic superhealpower, but humans turn to husk and such like we seen it before. Control is only a mean of the reaper to eventually break free. Destroy is, well, killing off only the Reaper. And that's why the Catalyst was most unwilling on that one, because he's Harbinger (which'd also explain him being the child, Shepard's trauma Harbinger uses against him; not to mention the child's Reaper voice when Shep shoots it).

I have no problem with how they decided she looks under the mask. Just hated the lame way they showed it with a poorly photoshopped picture.
I'm fine with them being human-like, the Asari are very human-like already, so it makes sense in-universe. But this is too human for me. The hair should be shorter, much shorter to fit in that helmet permanently, and I think the face in this mod is a little too wide.

This was surprisingly well done - and by a fan no less. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a slow reveal from her back, but that's details.
Also, even if the face is fan made, it closely resembles the face we got hinted at in ME1 so whoever made this actually followed that and essentially made it canon.

I stumbled across an image of this on Google, and it’s my favorite design. I didn’t know it was a video! This is EXACTLY how I thought she would look underneath! Like a beautiful elf-like creature with purple skin and glowing eyes. She’s gorgeous! I wish BioWare used this in the Legendary Edition and paid you! The new photo was nice, but this is superior, even though it’s damn close. I prefer her purple skin.

Playing through the triology for the first time. I’m Team Tali all the way and, my guy, this is just beautiful. Even as much as I appreciate the “let’s keep them wondering what they look like mystique”… I love what you did here. Better than the default BW version. Bravo!

It matches what we saw in photos of quarians, and of the one in the Extended Cut ending slides. It's perfect!
They're basically scifi elves, just not the Eldar kind.
I actually liked that they looked the way they did. The quarians were one of the most mysterious races in the franchise, and it was kind of deep to see that in the end, that aside from the hands, feet.. and the Dextro thing, they were more like humans than any other race.
Personally I always pictured them somewhat like Taurians with the similar feet and hands, without the head fringe and face plates. though.

PrinceAliTheGreat Yup, they didn't even added the Quarians in Andromeda. Salarians, Turians, Krogan, Asari, Humans, plus those ugly af races of Andromeda, and not even a single Quarian.

Yeah, but they're also technological geniuses and highly organized, efficient shipmates. By comparison, the Krogan may be more hardy, but their temperament and ostensible lack of ability to contribute beyond muscle (as well as the galaxy's shared hatred of them and canonical desire for them to never reach a high population again) means that the Quarians would have at least made more sense to bring than them.
Quarians are mentioned and are in Multiplayer, so I'm led to believe that the DLC will be strongly tied towards finding/rescuing the Quarian arc. While I'm disappointed that I didn't get Tali 2.0 as a companion, they at least give a marginally passable reason for their late appearance. Either way, if they don't deliver a Quarian in the DLC we riot!
David Rosensin Damn, Quarians should be added without extra cost, i hope Bioware doesn't get more greedy. Since EA sold copies with a papercode instead of a disk, i tend to believe we will need to pay 20 bucks to get a base species.

Thanks, Allan! I think Bioware deliberately made the lips motion loose so it can fit all the different language versions. But it is fun trying to match the original/english voice! Feels more realistic too.
See was it so hard to put it into the game no but we all know that the ending of mass effect dint get us as mad as not seeing her face in the actuall game and shes one of the best romances in the game too!

Dont put words in my mouth. I never said to harm Bioware. And this isn't some "small design flaw", it's the conclusion of a character arc and they fucked it up. Nah, what's more important with their limited time and resources is painstakingly recreating Jessica Chobot! Because THAT'S what fans were asking for.
So how long did that take you?
Because I know it would have taken bioware at least 6 months and about a few thousand spent on it.
It took me exactly 21 galactic years and around 1 million credits! XD

I remember when I was playing this one scene and Tali was about to die, and I wanted to save her so she didn't. He died more than 10 times, so I had to restart till she didn't.
I got so angry whenever she died. I wouldn't let her die. I had to save her.

Damn I really hope in the new mass effect we can get Shepard back and a mask less tali vas Normandy that will make me the happiest day of my life even if I have to wait 3-5 years it will be worth... also it’s wierd to think by then I’ll be out of college or about to graduate, I’ll still be obsessed over the game I mean mass effect 3 did come out when I was 9 and I am still obsessed with the game franchise so don’t think much will change except on the amount of times I have beaten the game 😂 probly will play 1-3 at least once a year... I just recently beat the lendary edition and that makes it my 4th play through.
If I lost Tali there, I would have most likely replayed the whole game again before continuing. But as a Talimancer, the chances for that were, luckily, extremely low.

I always thought that moment was the perfect moment to show Tali's face, not only because of her but because it would have been the first an only time we were going to see a Quarian without their mask and considering the context and meaning of the entire scene it wouldn't have been good... It would have been pure perfection.
