THEM Season 1 Ending Explained: th-cam.com/video/nXojsjnx0F8/w-d-xo.html
Are you an ai? Do you use an ai for the narration of your reviews?
Season 1 was a lot better, but also a lot more traumatic in the horror department. Feels like they really toned it down this season which kinda of affected the impact it had. The tie-in at the end was cool and not expected.
No AHS videos anymore? Season ended Wednesday, them came out this weekend and I’m still waiting 😢
Season 1 was the masterpiece 2 was good but could've been better 😅
Love ❤️ this channel. I have to watch Them explained. Sure I'll get so many missed clues. Plus the insite 💋 XOXO 💋
I have a feeling that the curse is generational trauma.
Symbolically, I think that can be successfully be argued
I think it’s all from the evil that white people and their ancestors have created which is evil, killing of poor blacks, slavery, racism, the list goes on! For many generations and still today racist white people exist everywhere… the entity that is targeting the black family in the show is the entity that was their for many generations. The entity is an evil demon that feeds off racism. that entity wasn’t a curse Until they moved into an all white community that targeted them and didn’t want them living their, hanging up nooses on their houses and harassing them its just demonic activity… This entity belongs to what the white people have created within themselves which is deeply rooted evil throughout history.. racism is very evil like how can you have that much hatred inside for generations upon generations, thats why its affecting the black family in the show generation afterwards and the cop is still dealing with being targeted because she was a strong black women. … because at the end black face showed up thats the entity in the show.. but it never shows its true identity which we all know whats really behind the black paint.. its doing black face and still showing the black family that they are to be forever demeaned and dehumanized… and yet again blackface itself is pure evil which white people created throughout history… this entity cant be fought It wins by racism alone tbh It’s really deep fr. Just my opinion.
No its the entity of generations upon generations of white racist people
yes that can be the theory because in the black community lots of mothers pass down their trauma to their daughter and it seems like no one can notice how bad it is for the future generation
It def is. Childhood, generational trauma that she has to “heal” in order to stop the evil entity which is her twin brother. Had me on edge the whole time 10/10.
Luke James was fucking amazing in this.
Yes!
He was amazing! I honestly didn’t know he had that type of range. I’ve only really seen him in the show Star which wasn’t the best. It really proves that bad writing can stifle an actor’s talent.
He we brilliant !!!
Yes!
She is was... amazing
Edmonds white adoptive family also profited from his pain. The "Dad" wrote a book that seemed to contain Edmonds emotional development issues. And it sold over two million copies. The dinner Edmond crashes ironically celebrates this books success as Edmonds life fails. The absolute cherry on top is the "Dad" refusing to help Edmond find the mental health resources he desperately needs.
I was waiting for their family to get got. I didn't like how they were left alone because he did reach out for help
I was hoping when his "dad" said GET HELP... he would slowly say " but I did, or I am, I am here" like help me!!! Like you're trying to help others
Right?? It made NO SENSE they were left alone but he got innocent children like thr Korean twins or poor Benny?? Like what the hell
I know right
@@Ljounieh those deaths were to get Dawn's attention. They all had a similarity to their story somehow.
While both seasons are tied together, I like them both equally. I will say I would have liked more to be revealed in season 2. Luke James gets a round of applause for his acting! He was so good!
Yes, too good lol
He deserves ALL the nominations. The range, going from awkward to hilarious to scary to sad 👏👏👏
Luke did his MF THING!!! He truly showed range in playing this character!
Them being tied together makes absolutely 0 sense what so ever.
@@238Brotherhood How so? It seemed they tied it together pretty well. Ruby from the 1st season being the twins mother.
I liked season 2 much more. It was a great binge worthy show.
I agree and that twist at the end was epic.
I totally agree!
Me too
How lol
Me too. Just finished
Season two left questions too but it only made me want a season 3. The lore of the “Them” universe is deep full of trauma unspoke. Luke deserves all the awards he was funny at times, awkward at other times, but always unsetting.
I think the ending was a twist honestly!! I did NOT see the twins..her mom being the daughter from season 1.. the time jump.. I enjoyed it
Then she looks just like her grandmother
@@foreignking6461because that’s actually the actress the plays her lol
That’s where I was confused why have the daughter from season one play the mom if she was the mom from season one
@@mikamik17she isn’t the same person they just look alike as some family members look like the past generations
@@mikamik17to tie it together
That 1989 haircut is so cute. She always looks fine but that looked so good on her.
Watcha gon doooooo, watcha gon doooooooo🎵🎶 😲 Tap dance man is so unsettling.
I feel like he represents black rage.
When he came in the scene, I was like “Dis moFo!!!” LOL

Addressing the heart medication ,anyone else notice how he forced her to open it but she couldn't?What makes her think a child could?
Exactly the whole point of that scene is to show he actually tried to save the dad by bringing the medication to him but he just couldn’t open the medication he was never “evil”like she tried to assume,i feel so bad for him
@@Jay-wr1liexactly. That’s what I got from that too. He wasn’t bad he was severely traumatized.
That's what I was thinking that or the fact she had tremors and was messing with her
Exactly I def get it. He tried to give him his medicine
Omgee I had never thought of that!! !!
I dont think the scare itself is a entirely separate demon from edmund more so that the scare is the pure manifesto of all of Edmund suppressed rage and pain. Its very clear that the scare isn't working for its own goals, it has a symbiotic relationship wit Edmund as if there the same person and the scare is only defeated when dawn tells edmund the things he's always wanted to hear deep down breaking him back down to human instead of the killing force he made himself into
The YT adoptive dad indeed implied he was worried that he would GRAPE his daughter. The other Black adopted child is implying they have a YT savior complex but only because it benefits their image.
Yup
No that is a legitimate concern. Years back there was a Christian community that adopted a bunch of African war orphans. Roughly ten years later they had a bunch of their teens get pregnant. The children were all mixed. Biologically speaking there is no reason why adopted siblings should not breed, and teenagers will be teenagers.
You know 'With all that entails'.
I thought Edmund was used more like a subject or case study, which subsequently becomes a successful book.
Allegedly, if that even really happened:
No 1. Do you think all the african War orpahans are all men what makes you think yt men can't rape blk girls.
No2 which african country
No3 lets not act like missionaries don’t abuse their children.@aSimpleTailor
Deep
Season 1 made me really uneasy and season 2 made me sweat bullets in anticipation. I think each nailed what they set out to do. Such a good show, it deserves more hype than it gets.
Out of all the reviews I’ve seen no one ever acknowledges when Dawn went to visit the Asian family, the Brother says there are 2 killers. Which I think was Really the red head cop and(in real life) used the Grim sleeper as a back drop as well. With all the attention on the Rodney king case and gang violence. The Grim reaper(serial killer) went unnoticed for years, until one lady escaped(like the lady in the car with Edmond)
Yeah it’s weird they mentioned Lonnie Franklin Junior
Omg! I actually asked on Twitter if the Grim Reaper had anything to do with this!!!
The scene where Dawn walks by the window and the detectives are looking at the board with all the black women victims was a direct reference to the grim sleeper killer. Awesome show!!
These recaps are the 👌 beast
🐐
A black serial killer.. they def went unnoticed ...
I liked them both but season 2 was more terrifying to me....more jump scares
I liked both seasons too.
Definitely
I watched season 2 first. I thought season 1 was going to be too hard to watch. Finished season 2 in one day. Started season 1…got through 3 episodes before confirming I was right about my instincts and I turned it off and watched ending explained.
@@RealJesseONFIREnah man you were just overwhelmed cuz season one was way more powerful and didn't take as long to get the serious stuff
In adoption there are many reasons why people adopt children it's not always because they want a loving child. Since this particular family adopted a second black childAnd this is a political family it's for a show. Most likely trying to warn off allegations of racism. Being adopted sucks I know, But it's even worse when you're just a show piece.
True
I related to the moment he went back and seen they had another kid BLK! was how I felt the moment I met my birth mom for the first time, and she had "foster kids" I held it in. To have gratitude for the moment that she was in my life, but I struggled with the thought of why wasn't I enough for you? Your only flesh but yet you have adopted?
Season 1 was engaging and entertaining. Season 2 had me anxious spooked and nervous. This was so good I binged it last night. The daughter being the twins mom absolutely sent me! Excellent writing and the acting was amazing as well. Loved both, but season 2 is the winner for me.
The Tap Dance Man was taunting dawn to find out about her mother's family, just like in season one. The Tap Dance Man, i think is used as a voice of the viewer because its always seeking revenge. So basically Dawn is a detective naturally. There are holes in the season that will probably be filled. Why out of all these recaps and reviews never says that Bernice Mott was killed on the twins birthday.
It's her granddad
Nice...thats a great theory 👌🏽
@@LonnellRichhow is that the grand dad 😂 tap dancing man is an entity black face(a white man) that tried to get the daddy to kill people and his family in season 1.
was her brother not an entity after he passed? yes he was her granddad might be the entity this time. use your head and think. thee first season he was a yt man. I believe he's going to represent her grandfather next season
@@LonnellRich who’s to say that her grand dad passed… and it wouldn’t make sense for him to be a white face entity when it represents something that he and his family despises. With all the trauma it caused him and his family, why would he intentionally bring that trauma to his grand daughter. Her twin brother had a purpose
Such a compelling series that seems very surface level at first but once you peel back the layers it delves deep into spirituality racism police brutality inter generational trauma and the horrors of every day life of someone dealing with deep pain
That’s what they don’t understand
your comment is on point :)
[8:55] Let me clarify that point. The 'Tap Dance Man' or 'The Entity' is not a "family" curse, but more of a black cultural curse that is passed down from generation to generation. Stigmas that become normalities in order to blend in or survive in a "white man's world". #BlackFacts
Yeah and if I remember correctly Tap Dance Man himself isn’t even black his whole backstory about being a slave might even be false then again who knows
@@user-rw3qd3jq4d yeah he’s a white man doing black face so he’s pretending to be black the end of season 1 he was revealed as a white man
@@user-rw3qd3jq4dnaw he's a demon who manifest thru people. He is a dead slaves spirit .
I read that the spirits taunting the family are because of the land they moved onto. No negros were to live there and that pact was broken once the two families moved in. “ The reasoning for The Black Hat Man's terrorizing the Emory family and haunting their house in Them is revealed. The Black Hat Man, whose true name is Hiram Epps, made a deal with the devil in the 1800s when a community called Eidolan stood where East Compton stands now.”
Season 2 is phenomenal and as much as I loved the 1st this new piece has me obsessed. I’m on round two of binging the whole thing again and love your breakdown. It is absolutely spot on.
To answer your question about Edmund’s well to do foster family, I think they have another Black foster child because it plays into the typical role of those with White Savior Complex: since they do tend to do things for show, but never for the long run. Once Edmund outgrew being a little boy, it wasn’t the same and as witnessed by their flimsy and pretty racíst outlook on a Black teen boy not being able to control his urges around the fair young lady as though he were an animal or inhuman. Chances that they’d find a reason to “return” the other charity foster once he got older would be pretty high.
I honestly didn't get those vibes from the white dad. I thought he gave Edmund back for the same reason Athena did. I don't think it had anything to do with Grape. Or did I miss something?
@@CowsRdumbthink about his disappointment in edmonds career choice? He didn't want him to be a actor and he mentioned he wanted him to do something else.... it's almost like he wanted a return in his investment. If edmond went on to be a pro baseball, basketball player
, or football player it would played into the plans they had from jump. As soon as he was a little too much they sent him back and got a new one.
@@niagoodrich1143 that may true but I'm speaking about him thinking he was gonna sexually assault his daughter. I don't agree with that. I feel Edmund was actually a difficult child. 2 people gave him up for the same thing. Yeah the white dad might of wanted a different career but I also think they struggled with him too
@@CowsRdumb yeah I was confused with that one too. He genuinely just wanted to be loved and that's it. It was sad
@@CowsRdumbI agree with you. The white dad still financially supported Edmund from what it seems. The nice apartment he surely couldn’t afford that on his job salary. Also the look on the white kids face you can tell Edmund did something to scare them as kids.
Tbh season 1 the episode where the white people come and kill her baby was one of the HARDEST things to watch and I'm so glad nothing of that was in this season.
I agree. When I saw that scene I stopped watching the show for a few weeks. I couldn't get past it. That was horrible!!
I agree, it was too much. If you stop to think the ultimate goal of a show is entertainment, despite the social criticism, I couldn't watch either
@@latonyarobinson4138it’s our history they shouldn’t have done it
I was so anxious the whole series scared they would try to do something as heinous 😩
My boyfriend's coworker is currently watching the first season and I told him PLEASE warn him on this scene because it's so brutal and horrible.
2 things. First. The black child adopted by Edmund's white family is meant to represent tokenization. Edmund was obviously prop able to help secure the father's ambitions. Secondly. You didn't mention the fact that Edmund Gains is an obvious play on Ed Gains, the real person that inspired characters like Norman Bates and Leatherface😂. I knew he was going to be psycho from the jump.Great video as always.
Ed Gein.
@@Nille0212 Yes! I stand corrected. But my point is still valid. Ed Gains, Ed Gein.😅
@@Mrnovanova that’s why I only gave you the correct name. You’re spot on with everything else.
That and they both had mommy issues.
I definitely said to myself that Luke was giving Norman bates.
I might have missed it in the video, but it’s definitely worth noting that the Red Haired Man showed up in the reflection when Kel was sitting with his father in the living room. 😩😩😩😩
I loved them both. They both needed to do what they did. Amazing storyline, plot, and My man Luke James killed his role. Amazing actors indeed.
I liked season 2 but I wanted them to explain that white family that adopted Edmund more. What was their motivation for adopting him and why did they give up so easily when they obviously had the resources to help him with mental health issues? Why did they want nothing to do with him later when he came back?
The father said he was lost cause and was afraid he would hurt there real child
I think they were afraid of him, which implicates maybe his behavior as an adolescent was already becoming violent and unpredictable. That actor was AMAZING!
They didn’t have good intentions for adopting him in the first place, so it was easy for them to give up and even to replace him.
@@ravengyal exactly
It’s the curse he had no hope either way
Thank you for linking your "season 1 TS". About to watch that first!!!
Amazons binge watching works very well for me , I love this new season and fallout
Luke James killed it! Malcolm Mays killed it! I’m ready for what’s in store for Season 3
I was waiting specifically for your review!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I was waiting for this, thank you for covering the second season
Thank you for the breakdown. Saw your season 1 breakdown, after watching season 2 finale. Helped a lot, especially seeing The Tap Dance Man for the first time 😮. Thanks again❤
I like both seasons. The first was better. At the end of S2, tap dance man wants her to take revenge on PD. Hoping for S3 with maybe her son’s adult life
I wonder if season 3 will be set in the 2020’s with kel as a music teacher and his family finally breaking free from the cycle
@Lboogie0711 mabye Kel also has a daughter that looks like Ruby Lee🤔
That would of made sense if she was getting revenge right after they accused her for the murders, not 6 months later after she already was proven to be not guilty and officer Mckinny was killed and blamed for the murders.
Great recap. Saw others and didn't understand plot. Thanks so much. I appreciate this hard job. Complex story. ❤
Season 2 was amazing, very scary compared to Season 1.
Both seasons are equally good especially since they are connected. Can't wait for season 3. Also time for Little Marvin to make a feature film!
finally i was waiting for your review loved this season felt like a step up from 1
I really enjoyed season 1, but season 2 has been one of the best horror viewings I ever had the pleasure of consuming
I love that the horror is regular people and evil spirits in this series!
Thank you... I've been waiting on your explanation
I definitely liked season 1 better. I feel like this season was too slowly paced. There was more that could’ve been written . Especially with the son and grandma. But it’s not the worst follow up season. Also, I hate that she went through all that just have the minstrel show back up. It was a lazy written twist ending.
yep i agree season 2 lacked substance season 1 was so much better looked various forms of trauma
The way both seasons were tied in was really good. Both are disturbing in their own ways and really well performed. Cannot wait for the 3rd installment.
I watched season 1 and 2 back to back. A wild ride I tell you.
wow! I bet!
I watched this show! It scared me!
That damn tap dance man gets me every time 🫣
season one was a hard watch so I opted not to watch this season but I’m thankful for the great review so I would know what was going on without having to watch 🙏🏽
It's not as traumatic as s1. There are still some things that are heartbreaking but nowhere near as awful as s1
Definitely worth watching, the racism is infuriating and frustrating, but not nearly as traumatic as what is shown is season 1. I would not be able to watch the killing scene in season 1 again. This season is worth the watch.
Can’t wait for season 3. Hopefully we don’t have to wait 3 years. Something told me the tap dance man would return and he did… will dawn give in? Will we even see those details or was his appearance just acknowledging the fact the family’s curse/haunting was still with them.
Man this is such an uncomfortable and a great show. F*k…im still processing the first season 😅
Ugh, I was so irritated that he couldn’t just tell her that they were related after coming to her house. That’s what happens going in overconfident and like people can read your mind.
Just finished binging S2 the whole night, this season was amazing & they executed the twist and connection to season 1 flawlessly! I would *LOVE* to see them touch on who and where the curse originated from if they do a season 3…
I quit on season 1. Racist America in the 50s/60s is one of the toughest watches there is. Season 2 was EXCEPTIONAL!! I started it yesterday morning and finished it last night. It was fantastic
Stop playing and watch season 1 lol
Watch season 1 to understand the story.
Something to note. This series does horror in a great way. There tension not just cheap jump scares.
Yeah and actually has a story most horror movies or shows have shit storytelling
I enjoyed both seasons equally. I feel like Luke James was a clear standout in Season 2 though. The pain that he exuded while slowing losing his mind was something people will talk about for a long time. I feel like Season 1's journey through grief, depression and guilt led to a very satisfying climax with the entire family finding their strength against adversity. While Season 2's theme of lost love and redemption had its satisfying beats leading to a great conclusion. I do feel like the final act battle between Dawn and Edmund should have played out a bit longer with more but I still loved it
I watched season 1 and 2 in 2-3 days and it was soo good. I immediately went to watch your ending explained season 1 and now im watching this one and thank you for explaining somethings what a great story cant wait for season 3.
Both were good in their own respected way but season 1 is more heartfelt because of the uncomfortableness of racism
Very good review
Maybe it’s just me but when I watch TH-cam videos I usually, all the time have to put the caption on. But I can hear you very clearly without the voice sounding muffled at times 💯
I loved the season 1 connection it was a great season
What’s up with this family going through traumatic experiences that start from going to the movies
Loved them both!!! Please bring out #3!!!!
I watched season 1 and I guess it was trauma porn. I forgot the details. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I started watching season 2 and couldn’t stop watching until I finished the last episode. The twin brother was absolutely horrifying . He slid into that monstrous character as effortlessly as taking a breath. Superb acting by all. The supernatural element was a little troublesome. I just wished they had just let the twin brother be the homicidal maniac he devolved into. Great review.
You don't know what trauma porn is. Saying that is so surface level. Image the pain of living that fear in real life. We only got a slice of how it felt to be black back then
@@LonnellRich I said what I said, and before I take it back, I’ll add more to it. Keep it moving.
The H00K3R scene was crazy but funny but I'm like I'm sure real life serial killers have responded that way

I don't know s1 was hard to watch
Season two is much less so
Agreed. I only watched 4 episodes of s1. And have now completed s2. But now this video has made me realise that the seasons are connected.
Now I have to go back and try and watch all of s1 😭
I hated s1 and wasn’t gonna watch this one but though connected, they are executed very differently. This season was significantly better and has more complete storylines.
@@brittneymiles4499 So you're saying we don't have to go back to watch S1? S2 could be watched as a standalone? 🙏

The tap dance man is definitely the devil in disguise
Season 1 was better, but I really liked Season 2 as well.
I almost wish i didnt see the show, only because it triggered so many of my own feelings I could relate to. However because it evoked so much emotion this is why the show is a masterpeice. Its alot to interpret and im glad to see other perspectives
Season 1 was the best loved the different music at the end of the episodes
Man season 2 was not worth that wait but I’m glad it dropped on my bday and I still need answers from season 1
I saw The Scare and assumed he was modeled after Trippie Redd combined with blackface. lmao
I need to rewatch season 1
never heard of this but not even 2mins in i think i wanna watch it so thanks
Haven't watched it yet but do you think the generational curse the Emorys was caught into came from the covenant of the first settlers from S1?
I personally liked S1 because of the supernatural aspect to it...
Absolutely a supernatural aspect to season 2- phenomenal season!!
No I think the tap dance man is the devil, and by welcoming his help in s1, the devil stayed to watch the family until he could claim one like Reverend Epps
I got soo excited to see the tap dance man again he is so amazing!
I love this series! I can’t wait for the next one to drop! Luke James acted his ass off!
I watched this in one day. Excellent!!!
Edmund deserved more in life😞..well before his first kill
I like both season and I hope they explain the story of George Bell if there's a 3rd season when he killed Elizebeth Wendell. They gave no story about who or why he was doing what he did.
i just realized that in season one the dad took the girls to the movies and that’s when the baby died with the mom but in season two the mom took the daughter to the movies and her husband died while edmund (the “ baby “/ kid) survived.
Sadly we will have to wait another 3-4 years for the next one. Great show binge both in 2 weeks I was hooked 🤷🏾♂️ now I gotta wait for power lol
This season was better than season 2 alot more brutal and Luke James doing some of the best work of his career
This is season 2 , you meant season 1?
This show was so good! Scared the hell out of me. 😅
Girl you and me both
I really liked the connection to Season 1 at the end of Season 2. "Watcha Gon' Do?"
Is that a reference to the Diddy song?
Lol no
Besides the racial tension and the systemic racism , the second season gives a glimpse of mental health awareness. Awesome show
I have to admit Season 2 impressed me. It was a little better than season 1.
I loved both seasons. ❤
I’m just watching this movie oboy it’s GOOD!! Top notch acting!!! Good layers!!!
Whoa what a show... I watched the whole of season 2 in 1 sitting. I just could.not.stop.watching !
Only thing I didn’t like was the reveal of “The Scare”. I liked the suspense. When they showed him all I could think was “this looks cheap asf”
He was supposed to be the Raggedy Andy doll, and there’s no way to NOT make that look cheap.
Why do I feel like I saw this before watching it last week? Was this on another streaming platform before Amazon prime?
Whatcha gon dooooo🎶 I’m not sure how they gon add bro in but I was hype when he came back. That’s one of my favorite tv villains. I like season two better it reminds me of when it was just me and my mom when I was growing up.
Season 2 was way better
I think the reveal of the photo was actually a bombshell that she got pregnant due to the rape. I went back to season 1 and the baby is just as dark as the mom when she's holding him. In the photo the baby looks much lighter skin, so I believe the baby is mixed. This season the family curse continued as well as struggled with identity. I think season 3 will follow the baby's story.
I think it’s just a lighter baby used in the picture. Them taking a picture w/ the baby would mean everybody knew about it but it wasn’t mentioned at all the first season.
I'm confused by this comment, who became pregnant due to the rape?
@@nickatnite16 the mom from the first season (same actress who plays Dawn)
in simple words can someone answer who did all those killings ? edmund(a ghost)? dawn reeve?
Which killings? The background serial killers? Those were real life cases. Or the ones connected to the main storyline? Those were Edmund in demon form but Dawn framed Reeves.
The writers are incredible!
Season 2 was great I couldn’t finish season 1 as I felt I was also there and being tortured with the family it was too painful to complete, season 2 is a actual TV show it’s very scary and Edmund stole the show so much I didn’t want him to die.
both seasons were great!
This was in deed creepy! Luke James (Edmond) should get an award, he was truly creepy and scary. Looking forward to season 3.
Wow! I didn’t think they could top season one but they did an amazing job. Luke James really showed is craft beautifully! The only complaint that I have is they gave us only 8 episodes compared to the 10 from season one. I would have loved an episode strictly dedicated to Ruby Emory, diving into her life after leaving Compton, the same way the man in the black hat got his own episode.
