You can when they are two separate scenarios. The setting for the meltdown was to expose a murderer. The setting immediately changed when said murderer comically dropped everyone in attendance including his wife and three children so he could have a private intimidating conversation with a woman. The setting for the tough talk is someone who knows they're dead and doesn't want to give their killer the satisfaction. Not so much "bad writing" as it is limited viewer analysis.
It's what he says to her in German that brings her back to reality.. He says... "You thought the War was over?? No Darling! Only the dead know the end of the war. WE are STILL HERE!!! EVERYWHERE!!!"

My God, the way Biff switches characters that fast one he realized his facade was up was up right scary. Kudo to Dylan Baker. He did a phenomenal job at playing this character.
Dylan Baker is an incredible actor, hats off to the way he quickly switch faces in this scene. Jordan Peele and crew did a great job in selecting him for his character.

ah good ol schlitz, I am glad they included that in this show. It's apparently not even good beer, but my grandfather had a bunch of their merch from when he managed liquor stores back in the day.
Anyone that watches this 3 minute scene and navigate to another show is beyond me. I was committed. I had NO idea how far this was going to go. In a later scene, you can see the kids floating in the pool. So many jaw dropping events throughout the season. Highly produced. Acting was impeccable and on spot. You will need subtitles for the first two episodes.

I like this scene. What starts out as a backyard family BBQ a place where you feel safe warm and welcome. Quickly turns to into fear and dread. The feeling of being all alone with the bad guy. Completely helpless.

The couple behind him should’ve been attacking instead of running. They were close enough to possibly get him away from the gun. Running from a bullet when that close is almost a worse idea.
There were several other ways to defuse the situation, but at 1:43 or so when he drops the facade, you can almost see the relief on his face as he grabs the gun. Like he said, he never liked that life, and merely by his expression you can see that he's glad for the excuse. That's great acting!

I love the 'sensitive decision' not to show the kids being killed, just their blood in the water, while it's perfectly OK apparently to show the massacre of five helpless people.
It would’ve definitely “triggered” people but I think that shock value would be excellent for illustrating the ruthlessness of the character. It really would’ve added to the general “ holy shit that was dark” of the whole scene

The setting immediately changed when said murderer comically dropped everyone in attendance including his wife and three children so he could have a private intimidating conversation with a woman.
The setting for the tough talk is someone who knows they're dead and doesn't want to give their killer the satisfaction.
Not so much "bad writing" as it is limited viewer analysis.

Anyone that watches this 3 minute scene and navigate to another show is beyond me. I was committed. I had NO idea how far this was going to go. In a later scene, you can see the kids floating in the pool. So many jaw dropping events throughout the season. Highly produced. Acting was impeccable and on spot. You will need subtitles for the first two episodes.

There were several other ways to defuse the situation, but at 1:43 or so when he drops the facade, you can almost see the relief on his face as he grabs the gun. Like he said, he never liked that life, and merely by his expression you can see that he's glad for the excuse. That's great acting!

I like the fact that the producers of the show implied the kids died without showing it. It’s eerie to hear the three shots ring out after the butcher put a hot one into his own wife.
SO thankful they didn't show that....but yes, the 3 bullets and just knowing was disturbing enough.
