  • EPISODE #3 - The diary of our Great Divide Trail (GDT) adventure. The third episode is "Section C - Part 1" which is from Boulton Creek to Egypt Lake. It was far harder than expected and more beautiful than imagined.
    Dudley (Bruce Watts), Crusher (Chris Abbott) & Mango (Tracy Généreux) - and many new friends - thru-hiked the Great Divide Trail during the summer of 2021. 1100-ish crazy hard and wild kilometres from the Alberta/Montana international border (near Waterton), to Kakwa Provincial Park along the continental divide in the Canadian Rockies. Considered the "Wildest" Thru-Hike in North America - We agree!
    This video is the 3rd episode of a 7 part series we affectionately are calling the "GREAT DIVIDE TRAIL DIARIES" ... we will be uploading vids on this channel as they are completed (be patient... there are lots of personal summer adventures that keep us from the editing studio -- SUBSCRIBE SO YOU WON'T MISS ANY OF OUR CYBER ADVENTURE!
    SPECIAL THANKS to Chris Abbott (aka Crusher) and Tracy Genereux (aka Mango) and all our other new friends: Tyson, Arthur, Marylou, Shira, Richard, Glen, Noémie, Fran, Theresa, Paul, Nicole, Isla, Noah, and Munchie (woof woof)

    Another good episode. It’s too bad you missed out on some of the best parts of Section C. Pre-pandemic you could have a beer and coffee cake at Assiniboine Lodge which was an awesome stop on a hot day for us in our 2019 section hike. We also had breakfast in the buffet at Sunshine Village which was amazing and we’re able to pick up a resupply box we had mailed there.

      …totally agree. Sunshine was a ghost town (resort) and Assiniboine Lodge wouldn’t let us in… double darn. Yet, we made the best of it and smiled.

    Another amazing video!! I did a 5 day Ball Pass Circuit this fall with 7 other amazing woman. We hiked from Hawke Creek Trailhead up to Ball Pass through Whistling Pass(absolutely beautiful!!), Egypt Lake, Shadow Lake and back up through Ball Pass. It was an amazing trip and it was great to see your footage of the area. I really appreciate the footage of Ball Pass. We did the down and up which I found the decent challenging and a little sketchy for me but we did it!! Love all your videos. Have an amazing new year, filled with many more hiking adventures!

      Thanks so much Patty… I can only imagine how sketchy the descent of south Ball Pass would be 🤞… happy hiking to you as well.🤙

    Is a hammock a viable option for the GDT? Great maps and walk thru of your adventure. Thanks for your hard work.

    • @Campology
      @Campology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Glen, perhaps, I’m not a hammock guy. Beware that much of the GDT is on Parks Canada campsites with platforms, that could pose issues. I suspect the best forum to discuss is the GDT Hikers FB page. Happy hiking.

    Where did you get the mesh water bottle holder? I’ve been trying to find one.

      Thanks so much James... and re the water-bottle holder... it's made by Zpacks in Florida... it's been great. You can only buy online…. PLUS… my complete GDT gear list is online at my website. HERE … campology.ca/index.php/gear/my-gear/909-great-divide-trail

    Nice shoe surgery! That looked like a curved surgical needle--do you have medical experience?

    • @Campology
      @Campology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope… it’s part of the Zpacks sewing kit. I never hit the trail without it!

    Thanks for the Video! Quick technical question.....what pair of Altra's do you have? i notice they have a vibram sole.....the pair of lone peaks i have don't and i find them very slippery! But they are the most comfortable shoe i've ever worn...would love a pair with the vibram sole however

    • @Campology
      @Campology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks and appreciated. I wore the Altra Olympus 4. I find them more comfortable than the Lone Peaks. My complete gear list is here …www.campology.ca/index.php/gear/my-gear/909-great-divide-trail
