Perfect timing on this video. About to go Stage 2 next week, only 11.5k miles but figured I'd do my plugs for good measure, so happy to see you put up a install video!
THANK YOU for showing the old plugs! Just did my 2018's plugs after 80k kilometers and #2 was the only one with oil on the threads. Was seriously wondering if I had a valve-stem seal leaking, but then I saw this and was glad to hear how minimal / common this is on fa20 DIT'S
Nice Kevin. Just did this on my WRX with 40K on the clock. Everything was dry and the color of the electrodes were nice and tan. Now just need that custom tune for Stage 2! Make sure you reset your auto window up/down for the front windows by holding switch momentarily (due to the battery disconnect).
As i just had done for $540, you will have to replace the valve cover gaskets( especially the spark plug tubes) within 60,000 or you'll get eventual misfires
Optima redtop! It is the best battery on the market imo. Had charging and starting issues with OEM for a while, replaced it with the redtop and haven't had a single failure to start in 2-3 years
thanks for the fast response. I’m in the middle of trying to put the driver side ones back in and I can’t get the torque wrench in with any various extension I try. It was a time lapse but it doesn’t look like you used one after trying various extensions yourself?
The torque spec is like, 15 ft lb if I remember correctly, I just ended up tightening by hand based on feel. You just want to make sure the crush washers flatten, which you can usually feel
crazy how you say not to over torque and then set your torque wrench above whats needed, if the wrench is not calibrated and its a make or break item, set it below not above.
I was using multiple adapters which would reduce the amount of torque received by the threads themselves. I set it a little high to compensate for the torque losses.
So many TH-camrs skip over moving everything out of the way, which is what my noob self needs. Thank you so much!
bro you deserve a sub for this. best video i’ve seen so far exactly what i was looking for, and the go pro angles were great. thanks a lot man

Definitely a good idea to do your plugs once a year, maybe around every 15k
Of all the engines, I think changing spark plugs in boxer engines (especially subaru) is quite or even very troublesome 😂

As long as it doesn't get worse over time or pool up in the socket, it's fine!
So glad I subbed. My WRX went over 10k miles. So much maintenance and modding knowledge gained from here.
Hell yeah!!

Haha yes!! I did have to do reset the windows
Good timing literally about to do this to my WRX.
Awesome video! I gotta do mine this summer! This will be helpful!
Great video! Are the spark plugs pre gapped?
Yes they are! I have a gap measurement tool that I use to check the tolerance on each with just to be sure though
is that e pre gap spark plugs?

If my sparks plugs are shot, in an emergency will a 9 volt battery work?
What is spark plug gap for wrx?
What battery are you running? I've been thinking about swapping mine out before it goes 🤔

@@WRXGarage good to know! Thanks for the info as always bro!
I’m new to doing my own maintenance and read about gapping spark plugs. is that needed for these out of the box?
Not needed, no. But measuring and double checking the gaps is always a good idea

@@WRXGarage thanks man! all done and my AP is showing great numbers again!
@@WRXGaragewhat is the gapping?
Sucks that you couldn’t get the driver side torqued down to specs……..

Something else is holding my ecu down
