I agree with your assessment of this. As I watched the first run through of the video, I thought: this is more a product of circumstance plus Makar capitalizing than him doing anything extraordinary. The puck handling timing is definitely the highest skill aspect of this as he crosses the blue line. I like your interpretation that you can’t do this every time, but you can be opportunistic. It’s more about reading the play and spotting opportunities at times, while making more traditional plays the rest of the time.
