      Thanks man! That was my goal all along, just something that worked for my purposes. Yeah a 100% perfect to scale Longitude would've been cool, but for one it didn't match my skill set required to do that🤣and two, it would've taken MUCH long than this did... and I just wanted to fly!😁

      @@skytation how did you get such a clean install on the MFD and such? I've got an 11.5 inch instruments display but it looks kind of sloppy how it sets into that Flight Velocity panel.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the search for the screens to use on the MFD/PFDs took a bit. I needed to find one not only the right size, but that also didn't have the connection ports on the side like about 95% of the ones typically do. I finally came across the ones you see in the video which had the connection ports in the back, which then allowed me to just an opening in the dash panel big enough to fit the back part that had all the connection ports on it, and then the bezel of the screen just rested up flush against dash panel.

    Neat uses for the Streamdeck. For XP, I ended up building a custom Teensy controller for my desktop with all custom code to make multiple uses of buttons (video buried somewhere on my x-plane playlist on my channel). This would have been MUCH slicker!

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I've mentioned many times when people ask why didn't you do a full scale exact replica Citation cockpit. Simple answer... I didn't want. For real, though, I wanted something that could go between different planes should I ever choose to, something that wouldn't take me years and years to build because I'd have to learn how to make and program all those buttons/switches/etc, and stream decks just turned out to be the perfect solution for me and my use case. It's not for everyone, but it definitely worked for me!

    • @skytation
      @skytation  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope, no molding. Just 1/2” MDF and a 3D printer. I designed the window opening/bezel in fusion 360 and that is all 3D printed. Then it’s just glued together and fit into the opening I cut in the 1/2” MDF that makes up the rest of the side panel. Filled the seams, sanded, painted 👍

    I think your sim looks awesome, but I do wonder if it would look better if the nose of the aircraft was scaled up to be visible to the pilot /user? Just curious 🤔

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that would be cool, and was part of the original plan. As well as being able to see the wing tips out the back of the side windows. However, in order to fully remove the virtual cockpit from the views, I had to clip the camera forward far enough for that to happen which in turn meant the nose and wings were not able to be in view :(
      If Asobo can perfect their "home cockpit view" which promises to leave the camera in the default position, but not render in any of the virtual cockpit, that would all be solved. But it's been several years now, and it hasn't come, not sure if it ever will.

    Hey, here again because I've been inspired to create my own home cockpit! I dug up an old iPad Mini and was wanting to create a single GTC570 out of it. I've tried to use the MSFS popout panels, but I can't exactly setup the touchscreen on the iPad. Currently, if I press a button on the GTC, my cursor teleports over to the iPad screen and clicks it. In turn, for some reason, when my cursor is off the screen, none of my flight controls work. So, how'd you do it?

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re just using the native pop out functionality in MSFS it won’t work. It doesn’t support touch functionality. You need to use a program called Popout Panel Manager that’s on the flightsim.to site. Once you use it to pop out the screen there will be a checkbox for each popout screen where you can select whether or not it is a touchscreen.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, so what I had been using was the render window settings in the "experimental" tab in the settings page. However, after much trial and tribulation of trying to get it set up so the views appeared as realistic as possible, I've decided I may just try and stretch one main view across all 3 monitors. I'm trying this using nvidia surround in the nvidia control panel and just creating one MASSIVE monitor with my main and two side monitors. Initial tests this weekend were successful, it gave me the correct horizon angles I was wanting from all 3 monitors, but going to mess with it a bit more. Whatever I decide to end up going with I'll make a video on how I did it for you.

  • @DownTheRabbit-Hole

    Nice home cockpit! Great choice of aircraft. The WT G5000 implementation with GTC controllers is the future of home cockpits. IMO Simplifies everything to a couple of touchscreen monitors and still gives fexibility to change aircraft. In combination with an AFCS on touchscreen and a few other items one can fly mouse/keyboard free.
    Well, that said, I am confused by the use of stream deck buttons for aircraft control. Why not use Air Manager, 3 monitors and 1 or 2 touchscreens below? There is a new complete panel for Citation Long by Sling coming out in AM 4.2. The stream deck route seems to be just another level of dependency which opens the door for more bugs. IMO one should be twisting and pushing buttons or icons that are a close proximity to the real thing.
    Please take no offense. I guess this is what youtube comments section is for, right? Have been Using XP for 20 years building pits. Now using MSFS. Not affiliated. I use AM, Corsair Vengeance 4090 3 LG 32" 1440p, 2 Asus 21" Touchscreens for MFD/PFD/AFCS. Fly on VATSIM IFR in Longitude almost exclusively with minimal keyboard and mouse. Very immersive. Good luck

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I don't like AM, that's why I didn't use it. Just a personal preference really. Chose stream decks because I like the actual physical button push I got from it, not just the tap of a screen. I said numerous times when building this that I was not going for 100% scale realism, but simply just "what worked best for me." And when I saw the ability to incorporate stream decks into the cockpit (especially the stream deck + with its rotary knobs and stuff) it was a no brainer for me. Just like everything in flight sim, simply boiled down to personal preference. And aside from using the mouse to set up the flight, I have zero need for the mouse/keyboard from beginning to end of flight. Like you said, makes it very immersive.
