It's just that bad music get more attention nowadays not just because of large fanbase, but because of the endless people coming to their vids/songs and hating on them, new trends, social media, etc. Just like how good music gets more attention back then, and there were less popular bad ones.

Believe it or not I am still listening to simple plan because it reminds me of being a teenager and how good life was back then. I'd do it all over in a heart beat if I could.
31 year old here, these guys paved the path for my music taste. I still remember buying a Role Model shirt from the Much Music store in Toronto, and wearing it so much it fell apart. 😅 My dad got David's signature at a festival when they first started out.
P.s my son's name is Sebastian. I think they spell it differently, but I first heard the name from these guys and fell in love with it, my husband happened to like the name too.
It's really sad today's kids will never get to hear rock music on the radio. Even by 2002 the top 40 radio stations were pretty bare on it. Nickelback was the last band to hit number 1 with a rock song, and that was in 2001.

It's just that bad music get more attention nowadays not just because of large fanbase, but because of the endless people coming to their vids/songs and hating on them, new trends, social media, etc. Just like how good music gets more attention back then, and there were less popular bad ones.

this song did not come out in 2006. I was 16 in 2006, and i distinctly remember singing this song to my friends in middle school not high school. that opening guitar riff always gets me..

These guys are one of my secret guilty pleasure bands. My inner teenager is telling my 37 year old ass that I’m supposed to hate this music because it’s bubblegum pop (It is most definitely NOT punk), but I love the Monkees and The Bay City Rollers, and Simple Plan are pretty much the Millennial equivalent to that stuff.
