Same here and I've been away the same time frame ,back in the day it was so much different and nitro was a lot of fun but so was electric but with today's electric motors and batteries it's 20× more powerful and more fun 😁👍
@@diggy2107 I stopped RCing a few months after the Revo came out. I owned the t-maxx which I made the mistake of installing the Dynamite .26 upgrade kit. It was way to much power for the original .15 t-maxx diffs though and i was stripping them all the time. Traxxas just released the Revo so I bought it, loved it, and had to put it all away because I was just starting my career and had no time. 2 months ago i saw an electric buggy boasting of 50+mph for only $130. I was bored and bought it. It was my first electric RC car and BOOM, I am right back into it. I still dont have the spare time for nitro so I needed to buy a new electric truck. I saw the newest version of the E-Revo VXL and had to have it. What I did not realize is how much larger Traxxas considers 1/10th scale now a days. I was looking for a truck to lightly bash around the neighborhood with. That is not what the new E-Revo VXL is for. I was shocked by the size and the insane power it puts out. It's by far the best RC truck i have ever driven but there are very few places I can actually use it properly. Now i am thinking of trying out drag racing. BTW, great review.

@Steve Vento nice. I had been saving for my first 1/10 scale crawler for awhile now, originally for the TRX4. But I recently found a original Scx10 with a Rc4wd Blazer hardbody. (With a roll cage) It was my dream body, so I got it used. I absolutely love it, and it is all I need for now.

Traxxas did this drag stuff a long time ago with a really cool dragster and tree light system why don’t they bring that back also ?
They had the John Force funnycars too. That is where the "trans brake" that is suposed to be new, comes from.

These RTR drag RCs make phenomenal street bashers. Light dirt & pebbles on asphalt/concrete & slight elevation changes make even better driving experiences! I love my 2wd dr10....looking forward to tuning & modifying it

Just got a drag slash yesterday, can't wait to run and start upgrading some things....
Best thing about that car is the body. I have a 1970s body similar to it that I modified to fit my slash 4x4.
I upgraded to a TEKIN RS PRO 4 SET. Now she goes so damn fast!!

You're clearly wrong, the newer esc's feature cap packs fully integrated, and the newer motors are 4 pole as opposed to the original 2 pole motors.
I have the funny car and it’s awesome!… I ordered the 32 coupe at the start of feb and got told yesterday it’s still another 2 months away 🤦♂️. I contemplated the c10 drag slash but a few hobby shops have said that no prep is all the rage at the moment so the waiting lists around the place are huge… place an order now and probably won’t see it until Christmas.. what a joke 🤦♂️

Its cool for the nitch it fits, some bashers will like it and mod it. but its just a bit hunk of flying plastic lol. I guess its cool.

I have most bases covered with a TRX4 scale Bronco, a UDR 1/6 Trophy truck, a few crawlers and all around basher. These drag trucks look so cool I bought one because it looked FAST. I live on a cul de sac and got to admit the first 10x or so I ran it was exciting but once I dialed it in it became boring. Sure with a opponent what friend could resist. However alone I see this speed demon being on display going really slow "0" pretty fast.

What are the pros and cons of the old mxl 6 esc? I wanna put one in a drag slash and race an infraction?
Hmm, not sure honestly. I don't have any experience with that ESC but looking at the manual it shows it being 6S with a low-volt cutoff and all the normal bells and whistles. There must be something different about the new model though, maybe more efficient or lower IR? Not sure the difference but the MXL-6 should work just fine in a Drag Slash.

it would of been a bigger hit if traxxas actually came out with a brand new custom drag esc and and new custom high kv motor.
And batteries with a higher more competitive c rating
Drag racing isn't really my thing, but I LOVE that body. Wonder if it could be made to work on a normal Slash with off-road wheels?
might have to do a monster slash conversion do make that body fit
The drag cars have been narrowed, so you would need to have those fat off road tires outside the body.

That contact patch on the body from the tires seems... wrong. You guys sure it's not from dust being kicked up? I have a couple cars that have had portions of their body/chassis clearly sand blasted, cause there's absolutely no way a tire touched it.
It is possible, the outer 2.2 portion of the tire would want to balloon more than the inner 3.0 portion.

It's little over priced but body is super nice !! Car works well out of the box way better than dr10 !!
they are on sale til end of sept 2022 for 300 each, or 2 for 500 with a small mini tree. I bought one for 300 and loved it so much I bought 2 more the next day

Off topic question but the UDR sway bars (part number 8598 to be exact) do they make aluminum or a tougher version of that part? Mine bend on me to easily on the front and rear and it cracks the plastic sway bar arms as-well.

@@AMain_Hobbies thanks for responding Brett, but I am looking more for the silver bar part that travels between the left and right sway bar arms. Both rear and front but in aluminum.
Click on this link please and it will show you what I’m talking about. You have the sway bar arms and then just the sway bar. I am looking for the sway BAR but in aluminum. Sorry it’s hard to explain because they are similar in names. I don’t know if they have these in aluminum or not but they bend really easily.

Are the front/rear arms shorter than the regular 2nd slash? I assume the front is to accommodate the bandit rims
Yes, the arms are shorter. I believe the truck uses a Slash length chassis with the shorter Bandit suspension arms. If you had those pieces lying around you could make this vehicle. Traxxas made a video on how to do just that: th-cam.com/video/YB95bfDEz7g/w-d-xo.html

Does anyone know if the ground clearance is adjustable? I'm not looking to jump it, but just bash it around in a dirty parking lot. Good ground clearance would be ideal lol

I am setting up my new Drag Slash that I bought from AMain. With a 5000mAh, 60C, 2-cell battery and the stock gearing, the Traxxas dashboard indicates around 21.3K rpm and a top speed of 31 mph while holding the rear of the truck off the ground. I am wondering how you got 39 mph with the same stock truck?
Yeah, i'm not sure. Do you have to set the tire diameter in the app? When you do a speed run, the tires expand and I imagine they help you get a little more top speed.

@@AMain_Hobbies Hey Brett, thanks for the reply. Yes I was thinking the same, that tire expansion would account for actual true speed. That would mean the Traxxas app is inaccurate. I will look to see if it has the ability to input tire diameter. -Tom
@@AMain_Hobbies Alright, due to my ignorance I thought the app was set for the Drag Slash. I went into it and found I could adjust tire size and also spur gears, and more. Adjusting the app to a 4" tire and 76 tooth spur gear, it now reads a theoretical 43 mph.

Any of your local tire shops have them. It’s one of the styles of weights they use to balance wheels with no lip on them.

It’s already built. Add battery and go.

Yes, they are running it stock. It comes with an optional high speed gear in the box.

For me personal, I wouldn't buy it too (nitro only) but I found out that the TIRES are the most expensive thing on this rc.
Only ONE tire (rear) costs about 30$-60$ or more

I'm pretty sure that's a 1968, not a 67. The vast majority of the 67's had a small back window
Late 67 had big window also, after safety regulations changed. 68 had side marker lights, 67 did not.

Me and my friend bought two drag trucks he got the Traxxas 67 Chevy truck I got the losi 68 Ford F100 I bet him every time we use the same battery the losi it way faster

Why is 3s not allowed in competition drag races?
It’s just not. Idk what to tell you, I wish it were legal
The goal is to simulate full scale racing. The distance is 130 feet, 1/10 scale drag car, going 65+ on 2s in less than 2.5 seconds closely simulates a 1:1 scale quarter mile run. Some people are reaching 70mph on 2s depending on the build. Also many ESC/motors setup for drag can’t handle 3s.

The motor should be in the front and they should have a 4 link setup in the back with a solid axle like real drag cars have. There's a reason why drag cars don't use modern type of independent suspensions in the rear.
My friends which professionally run RC drag cars have the motor in the back.
That's how they do it.
It's nothing about being "faithful" to the looks of real dragsters, it's about what performs best in smallish RC cars. Which is having the motor in the rear.
If you wanna buy a truck for looks, don't buy a dragster, they're made for performance first, authenticity second.

On 3 cell I got 60 stock gearing and on the high speed I got 68
I got 66.9 on a 74 tooth spur today, on 2s, and still accelerating with the wheels off the ground. Had to back off as it was windy, and starting to drift off road. Mines a dr10, and about 1.5 lbs lighter out of the box. I've moved weights around to front bumper and front of chassis, and will hit it again. Hoping for 80-90 on 2s. Out of the box, slash is definitely setup better, but don't sleep on the cheaper dr10, my little birdie can fly.
Whats the black thing behind the truck what is it for
That's just the wing, aka spoiler. Basically, when driving, air pushes down on the wing helping to create downforce, traction and stability.

Yes, I believe it's the same VXL ESC and Motor system used with the other VXL-3s systems.

Hey its me again, I got my rustler 2wd a overpowering upgrade, I took a 31t pinion 32p, and a 40t 32p spur🤣 on 2s it goes 60. It's stupidly fast lmao
66.9, and still accelerating on 2s, but wheels off the ground and no steering. Dr10
@@reallythough4591 a few months ago i got my rustler a 4s upgrade with a 2700kv motor, and its running fully custom 3d printed spoilers and low suspension, just got it running on 140mph with 1/1 gear ratio.
@@DoggoDaOne that's sweet. I'm aiming for 150 on my monster truck sleeper. I amped out yesterday trying to hit throttle too hard and too fast, as I hadn't built up enough speed for a 14lb truck when I gunned ity dr10 is able to run up to 7s, but I have some work to do to keep it under control. On 2s, a gradual pull and she sticks and runs like an arrow. If I floor it, she dives, shimmies and crashes. I have been able to run 3s without crashing, so I'm working on balance and adding more weight.
Fat thumbs, I can't run 3s yet, as the power band just causes the car to rip free and jump end over end. 1st attempt, she did a complete backflip at 50, and landed on the wheels. 2nd attempt, she dipped left then veered right, and rolled sideways for half a block. Last attempt, she did the same, then started flipping end over end when the front wheel dug in. Capable of over 150, but I can't keep it on the road. Too light.

@@Dixie1969 Hmm, I'm not sure if the wheel wells will match perfectly, they might be off. You have a 3S BLX Senton?

I just checked the wheelbases of each model:
Drag Slash is 12.9 inches (327mm)
Senton 3S is 12.87 in (327mm)
That's very close to each other, so I'm thinking the wheel wells in the Drag Slash body should align very good with the Senton wheelbase. There might still be some rubbing from the tires, but you could probably trim the body a little with some lexan scissors.

What is the 29t pinion
The pinion gear is the main gear attached to the output shaft on the motor; 29T just means the gear features 29 teeth going around it.

nearest rc drag strip is 20 miles from me and the nearest smooth road is about 120 miles away so i wouldnt be able to get this im better off with a 1/12 3s or something like a bandit

Would this body fit the traxxas Bigfoot stampede
You could mount it up on the Stampede, but it's a little longer and a little wider than a normal stampede body, so you may have some fitment issues, like the Stampede tires won't sit aligned in the wheel wells. In other words, it won't be a drop in, direct fit.

I love all this stuff but man. I just wanna have KIT options.. it's fine to include all the electronics but good lord let us get back to building them ourselves. That's how you learn how to fix them. By assembling them.

I picked up all three,, the losi is the fastest, the dr10 is the slowest , the traxxas is in the middle
Durability wise ,, traxxas and losi are even,, the dr10 is brittle and toy like
My dr10 is getting his feelings hurt in this thread, and challenges you to a race, but if you can't hit 65+ on 2s, you may want to sit this one out.
