If the driver wouldn't get out to find the tow fitting and try and find the towing eye + fit it under water , the wheel is perfectly suited to pull the vehicle out for the short distance needed or hold their breath long enough to go under the water and fasten it to the wishbone 🤨

Well a lost art in that there was no choice but to reef or furl the sails when conditions needed it. The modern pedal to the floor driving and not needing to have any idea about how the vehicle works just means finding out the limitations too late.

I think manufacturers have a lot to answer for with putting air intakes so low in some vehicles. There's no reason for it.

Normally the wheel doesn't spin like that, it just locks up and they drag it. The design of the spokes on those though allowed the wheel to keep turning

@@raftonpounder6696 tbh mate it’s more so for the winter. The water gets so cold. Even with double layers can have you shivering in minutes. I did manage to get 2/3 working and driving again. About £15,000 saved off everyone’s insurance claims 💪 cadent one was written off that day.
@@Discoveryjamie breathable waders stop you shivering. Layer up underneath them and you can wear them all day. It’s the sweat build up caused by the PVC waders that freezes you.

4:21 guy was lucky. Seems like most people think to go hard and fast but the water gets splashed up behind the front cowl and into the air intake. 2 ways to get through - 1 is turnaround and go home and the other is try going in real slow and if the water is above the rim back out and use plan #1.

The shots from Buttsbury are failures due to the speed of the vehicle, this is achievable if slow and steady. I know as I’ve used this ford many times and my rule is if the water hits the 2nd railing from the top, turn around.

Seeing the big German cars being towed always looks rough with the wheels locking up, it was bad enough to see my parents Merc being towed from their driveway and that was completely dry.

Electric car. Same as a "waterproof" smartphone but not too long and too deep. The battery pack may fail due to high pressure and fluid leakage into cells
IONIQ 5 to be precise, but they are pretty sealed up because of the batteries in the floor.

Mercedes should be re-designing their air inlet positioning with their vans. It literally scoops water inside the engine. Bad design IMO.

Why are drivers so stupid and driving in there so fast? When there was flooding on the streets here in Germany in December 2023, the fire department was called and they then had to pull the cars out and the driver of the car then immediately received a fine from the police. So 2x karma, 1x broken car engine and 1x fine from the police
