    Yes, the bushing was completely gone from the clutch pedal on my 04 Ion. I appreciate the video on the ease of replacing it and getting the rod to remain attached to the pedal.

    Yeah, I , umm...see black plastic shavings there...on my car... May have to replace the whole Clutch assembly. Yes, You helped me very much. You may have just helped me save my new job, if I can get that part....and fix this in 24 hours. So yes....thank you very very very very much. I will say a prayer and hope you will receive blessings for your generosity and help.
    If you are ever in Atlanta, let me know. I owe you a steak dinner, or a veggie burger.

    Am I missing something? I have all of the parts but the master cylinder won’t click it or stay locked into the pedal?

    • @n3ologicprojects351
      @n3ologicprojects351  ปีที่แล้ว

      The white clip that I remove at 1 minute into the video is responsible for "holding" the pushrod to the pedal. The parts will not hold together if the clip is missing or the ball at the end of the pushrod is worn.

      I agree that i feel like im missing something. I have the clip and push rod ball lined up but they wont snap into the space. Putting the bigger white clip in place to hold everything together isnt going to help if the push rod ball isnt seated fully into the space, which i havent been able to do. i am struggling mightily with this repair so i hope youre still responding to these comments. Any help appreciated

    • @n3ologicprojects351

    Question, my rod on the clutch master cylinder keeps on breaking where there is a dent around it at the end of it. What could be causing this?

    • @n3ologicprojects351
      @n3ologicprojects351  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many causes of a clutch rod breaking stemming from "improper assembly" to "poor materials". For instance: the rubber on the end of the rod can wear over time and can result in metal being exposed at the very tip or the rubber may no longer be "ball-shaped", or where the bushing is supposed to go in the pedal may be damaged to the point where the bushing would not be able to be properly installed. I would get a new rod as well as the bushing to fix the problem (assuming that everything else mechanically is functioning correctly.) If the bushing is loose or won't install on the pedal properly I would look at replacing the pedal as well. I have another video on replacing the cluch pedal.
      Note: the "bushing" is the little plastic piece that keeps the rubber ball from pushing through the pedal

    • @nickbrumbaugh39
      @nickbrumbaugh39 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@n3ologicprojects351 what is the name of the rod with the ball on the end that attaches to the bushing? It appears my bushing has been gone for a while, and I'm worried I've damaged the rod. The end of my rod is damaged with scratches, and metal can be seen. It also has a lot of play

    So I accidentally snapped my clutch pedal (already ordered a new one) But when I pushed the two ignition lock switches in by hand holding them in and turn the key I couldn't get my car to start. Is that another problem I should worry about or will that be fixed as soon as I replace the clutch pedal?

    • @n3ologicprojects351
      @n3ologicprojects351  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In order to start the car without a clutch pedal, you would have to do two things in order to simulate depressing the clutch. First, put the transmission in nutural. Second, press in the lower switch that the clutch pedal actuates. There is no need to also press in the upper switch as that is only depressed when the clutch is not being touched.

    • @Titan2263
      @Titan2263 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried this yesterday and still nothing

    • @n3ologicprojects351
      @n3ologicprojects351  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Titan2263 if the car was starting and running fine just before the pedal snapped, the only other thing I can think to check is the lower clutch pedal switch. Disconnect and take it out and check the continuity on the pins while pressing and releasing the button. If nothing changes between having the button pressed or not then it may need to be cleaned out. You can spray it out with battery terminal cleaner to get the corrosion out but try not to take it apart if it can be helped, the plastic is fragile and if it breaks it will have to be replaced.
      You may also want to post in the Ion Redline group on Facebook to see if anyone else might know something as my videos on here don't get much traffic yet.
      Good luck man!

    This does not also apply to all Cobalts. I watched your video, then ran to a "Pick n Pull" junkyard and they gave me a list of what was all interchangeable with a 2004 Saturn Ion. A certain Cobalt was on my list (I believe it was a 2007), and apparently the parts were interchangeable. I noticed the big giant white clip was removed but the rod was still connected to the pedal. So I thought, "Aha! They didn't take the right piece!" So I removed the white clip inside the pedal which was holding the rod in place. I quickly ran home with part in my hand..... It is not the same. I've even just googled the image of the part number you provided and they definitely are not the same. The Clutch pedal setup is ALMOST identical. It's literally just this little white clip that is different. I hope this helps for any Chevy Cobalt owners.

      The only rubber peice on mine is fused to the end of the pushrod. The little white bushing comes all by itself. When you look up the item number you will see the bushing all by itself. I put links to all of the parts that can be broken in the description.
