Ironically, due to how Among Us completely redefined "sus", almost every "sus" joke that exists in YTPs after Among Us got popular has involved some sort of Among Us reference. And fittingly enough, just as many TH-cam Poopers like myself have gotten tired of basic jokes like "sus" and its variants, this has translated into the Among Us variant of "sus" and Stop Posting About Among Us. It's poetic, but for all the wrong reasons.
I'm sorry if everybody is tired of among us stuff and seeing it but we need to find which origin of sus is I know it was played in reverse but this is not common. good flipping lord man.
"It's ubiquity in TH-cam poops makes it the defining term in TH-cam Poop's lexicon." Never thought I'd hear YTP discussed so eloquently as an art form, but it absolutely should be.
Yeah I remember sus entering my lexicon as slang around 2016. Then 2020 came and the word just breaks my brain and I laugh harder the more it's repeated
truly one of the greatest tragedies of the modern age is the loss of SuuuS to the whole general attitude surrounding Among Us. Happy that there's still YTPs still coming out though, even if one of the most iconic elements of the style is missing
one time at the taco bell drive thru with friends this lady said and i shit you not “want any SooS?” we died laughing after we drove off because we all knew what we were thinking
My go to for SoS is from Wow! It's Made. I think one of the more interesting things about the linguistics of YTPs is how they infect non-ytp spaces. My friend group always says "no" the way Geoffrey does in Fesh Pince, and saying Fresh Prince just feels weird.
No matter how many times I hear the words sus, sos, joj, lel, yoy, sas, forf, fof, fuf, foof, non, nan, or whatever Poopism, it always makes me wheeze like a literal tea kettle and laugh uncontrollably. I miss the old ytp days! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
I can't wait for this to explode in views because the algorithm wrongly co-opts it with among us stuff. Edit: Also Kroboproductions is responsible for sus? That's fucking crazy, I stole a joke from them.
It can seem to me, at times, that those who grew up with YTP and watched it to enough of a degree develop an interesting relationship with it as compared to those who one introduces to it for the first time. While there's a chance factors such as self confidence in a group setting can play a factor in how one responds to the humor of YTP, a few of my closer friends and I, it seems, have developed an appreciation for "the greats" and any user who can emulate and/or scratch specific itches in how that user's YTP is structured. Sentence mixing has always personally been a favorite editing tactic for me, and forward reversing words like SoS can make for some harder laughs when used correctly, especially if it's not a common YTP term and catches the viewer off guard
I really enjoy this series As someone who used to make ytps as a kid it makes me smile to see someone giving the classics and memes from ytps their dues
Finally, I found it. The video I've been hoping to see. Yes, I think we need more videos of serious, analytical discourse in regards to the fine art of YTPs. I don't think we can just continue on sos or sus without understanding it in the context of the joj wew. Fuf.
Something slightly linguistic from not really a linguist: For ages (more than a decade now) I've been wondering why reversals like "suus", "laal" and "faaf" caught on, and others like (say) "paap" didn't. I concluded it's because the former sound more natural because they involve only fricatives (i.e. sounds you can hold indefinitely and that sound the same when reversed). Does that make sense to anyone else? (Also, the first time I heard "sus" in a YTP must have been KroboProductions' "Sonicdude3 Expresses His Hatred for Vman". Not sure if that might be even older than the Captain Rescue one?)
We need another video but for JOJ/ HoHsis and the influence of that CS188 series that birthed this. I feel the lore of it is rich for two terms to be birthed from the same nonsensical YTP of a local foundation repair company’s commercial.
1:10 that's not what a portemanteau is. You probably meant palindromes? A portemanteau is a word made by fusing two different words while a palindrome is a word that is the same when spelled backwards, like kayak.
Next few videos are quite long. Halloween video is very long. Please leave a like for this video if you liked it and expect more content very soon.

I play Among Us and I still know the difference between sus and SuS as I grew up watching TH-cam Poops
@@RealEpikCartfrenYT Me too!
ITS FUCKING PAINFUL.
Among us and tiktok STOLED SUS FROM US YTP.

SuS will always be YTP property in my eyes.
Quit whining about nostalgia

To differentiate from among us, I say “SoS” instead.
It doesn't hit the same as sus 😔
@@Agony.man i must have found home again when i see a comment at 11:44pm that says “it just doesn’t hit the same as SuS”
Real ogs will remember sus from TH-camPoops 💪 and not among us 🤓
I love that soos, sauce, sus are such popular words in YTP and have made their way into my vocabulary for like 8yrs now 😂
one time at the taco bell drive thru with friends this lady said and i shit you not “want any SooS?” we died laughing after we drove off because we all knew what we were thinking
I never get tires of sus, makes me smile when I hear it on a ytp
I always laugh like a lunatic every time I hear "Sauce!" It's like jingling keys in front of a baby, for me! 🤣 ❤
I'm glad my brain functions in a similar fashion when I hear "sauce"

I have the same experience with John Goodman. Gohn Joodman is his real name to me, and anything else is incorrect and not canon.
Back when SUS doesn't make you think of among us but instead a sauce that has the word sus
SuS is such an iconic YTP term. It's just something random that can be made up by reversing the word and still end up being funny.
Nothing beats good old spaghetti Sus.
No matter how many times I hear the words sus, sos, joj, lel, yoy, sas, forf, fof, fuf, foof, non, nan, or whatever Poopism, it always makes me wheeze like a literal tea kettle and laugh uncontrollably.

severely underrated. sadly
Love these poop breakdowns. I could watch these every day

I didn't think I was enrolled in a Bachelor of YTPism and watching a lecture on SAUS.
As someone who makes YTPs, I can agree with your argument lol
If you're not a linguist, what do you study? Your content is certainly put together in a more academic sense than most "video essays"
I do study linguistics but am not as well versed.
My most study meme academics, philosophy, and sociology.
I always thought it always was just a shortened version of “suspicious”
Weren't around for the golden age?
Well, technically yes, but no. SuS
So you’re telling me that DR ROBOTNIK INVENTED SUS
You look like Brock Lesnar if he’d never picked up roids and stuck to the textbooks instead.
Came for YTP, stayed for Phantasy Star Online soundtrack
how about "HoH SiS" by cs188
Joj might not be as influential as sas but to be honest it is definitely a big one
Thank you so much for this video I’ve been obsessed with YTP Sus even before among us
Love this content. Short video essays explaining YTP culture.
Amogus really appropriated sus from ytp
I’m so suus it’s even in my naan
Damn it’s been a while since I saw a video of yours! Suuch high quality as always!
I actually did make my own ytp. Tourettes guy doesnt think duggan's shit stinks.

Without SoS we wouldnt get the JoJ and we would be 100% unsatisfied
I love this lil bite size video. Great information and easy to follow!
