I second this. Love the detailed breakdowns, but it would be helpful to see the construction of the deck. I’m good at adding 150-200+ cards to my new Brawl decks, very bad at cutting it back down to 100 for an actual playable deck lol
@@devonpiersol1207 That's definitely the most time consuming part! Splitting things up in categories helps, as you'll see where you have too many cards doing the same thing.
lol, watching you for more than year and once I was playing with you didn’t even notice that until this video. 1st game was me, and that was probably was 2nd deck I build myself this year, normally just copying yours or Amazonians:) love your content:)
Because he is one of the most "anime" Magic character. Antisocial, badass, edgy, bishonen face, pale skin, long white hair. Sorin drawn by Ayami Kojima is basically Castlevania's Alucard. The one drawn by Livia Prima in the thumbnail here, is basically Sephiroth.
@@nurikhsan8821 Agreed on all points! Iirc Sorin was actually inspired by Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, so they invited Ayami Kojima, the author of that game's box cover, to do the alt art for Sorin in one of the recent Innistrad sets (Crimson Vow). To complete the circle of references. That was pretty cool, and that alt art is gorgeous too.
Wondering why authority of the consuls was skipped. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with it, as it protects flipped Sorin from hasty threats. Curious to hear your take.
@@LegenVD that makes sense, and I had considered that angle, I suppose it’s just another one of the 40 million life gain synergy cards available, and (having now watched the whole video) it doesn’t seem as though haste really was problematic. As always, your input provides a lot of value, thanks so much for taking the time to respond .
Well, the game usually stops being interesting to the opponent when it happens, it's generally quite clear when the win slips out of their grasp, so it kind of makes sense that people scoop when it happens, you aren't getting any rewards from losing on Arena.
25:04 Why didn't he kill the Nissa here as soon as he had priority? Why risk the land in hand and potential protection spells while waiting for the fabled passage to go off?
@@LegenVD wow! Can't believe I didn't even notice that "permanent" key word. Thank you for responding! Love your videos! You are such a strong player for sure 🤙
Great video as always! Just out of curiosity, have you ever built a Fungus deck? Been trying to do that for a long time (do not ask me why) but I couldn’t come up with something consistent and strong..
I loved the Future Sight fungus deck! Remember going to countless stores trying to find the "Fun with Fungus" theme deck, but sadly never got my hands on it.
It does not but the back side of the card is BW (all flipwalkers of the set are two colors even if they don't have their second color as a cost on the card)
I tried the Sorin/Lurrus but after playing with it, I think Amalia/Lurrus is better. Amalia is so much more fun and consistent. Prefer Sorin in the 99.
Both are great options! Not entirely sure which is better. Sorin can be harder to interact with for some decks and gives the deck some added reach. Amalia is a great value engine and plays well with other graveyard recursion effects, so we're also more likely to get back Lurrus if it gets answered. Can't really go wrong with either commander.
I'd like to see a video where you build a deck from scratch explaining how to search for cards and your line of thought when building.
He's done a video like that in the past, I dont remember which commander it was sadly
Here's a list that includes a few of them:

Check out scryfall if you haven't already. It's a database of all the cards and you can find creative ways to query relevant cards
so nice to see the Brawl Videos from you. I very much enjoy it as a passionate commander player. :)
Glad to hear it!
The DIE PEASANT at Atraxa was *chefs kiss*
I love how you said the damage could matter and then it actually did to help you finish the game against Tatyova the turn that you did, 10/10

Thanks for the game!
Potent commander and very synergistic deck. Amazing work as usual, love all the content. Thanks.
An archetype as old as time given a new breath of life! That flip Sorin's minus is no joke! Awesome job as usual, Luca!!! 🤘
It's wild how the -1 is so good that the other abilities basically never come up
I haven't had time for TH-cam lately since I've started working 7 days, but that just means I can binge Legend now which makes me happy :)
Another Brawl deck?! Oh, yes! Please keep them coming
Sorin is definitely one of the cards that looks much better in the alt art (the backside, especially). Love seeing you build him in Brawl!

As a Cleric representative, we in the Orzhov Guild and Markov House thank you for this.

It’s good but since it will usually gain life in the opponent’s turn it won’t synergise with Sorin.

Paying the extort cost with Lothos treasure is good flavor.
I really love your brawl videos!!! They're my favourite!
Last two Brawl decks have been bangers!
Dude I made this deck day one with lurus did not want it to get out. Thanks buddy
It gets out when you play it, buddy
Lifegain vampires is always fun
A battle between pain and lifegain on first match. This is going to be good.
Opponents always scoop when the game gets interesting. That's why watching brawl is very irritating.

This seems like a really fun deck.
I've tried the deck. It's awesome and very fun to play
Glad you enjoy it!
Bloodletter of Aclazotz and -1 of Sorin is so much fun tho :D
Chthonian Nightmare might be a good fit seeing as you’ve gone Lurrus companion and don’t need to worry about MV higher than 2
Certainly an option! Might be a little light on sacrifice fodder but a good card to have on your radar.
25:04 Why didn't he kill the Nissa here as soon as he had priority? Why risk the land in hand and potential protection spells while waiting for the fabled passage to go off?
How is he using lurrus as companion if lingering souls is 3 mana? Is it because the flashback on the card is 2 mana? I'm confused.
Lingering Souls is not a permanent, which is what Lurrus cares about!

If you don’t mind alchemy, try Slimefoot, Thallid Transplant. I dusted it off recently and it’s still competitive since it makes so much value.

This deck is awesome
The deck looks like gas!

Radiant fountain and other life lands didn't make it?
Shouldn't this be a monoblack commander? I've always thought that the U/B from Extort doesn't count as part of the color identity of a card?
The back of the card is black white
It does not but the back side of the card is BW (all flipwalkers of the set are two colors even if they don't have their second color as a cost on the card)
The backside is W/B, that's why it's in Orzhov.
Both sides of a card contribute to it's color identity, this is the same reason why Esika is WUBRG and not mono-green.
@Oxygen1004 not really the same, sorin has no white pips in any of its text other than reminder text

🤔
Will it come with free bud?
Tavern swindler is one of my favorite cards for sorin. It is the most powerful card? No, but its so uniquely good for sorin
Hot take: sorin is the closest we have to black oko (pretty much it)
I feel like this is just an excuse for Luca to relive his angsty teenager phase.
Queue the black parade.
Is it just me or do the backside art kinda looks like vampire from cheap soap opera drama😂
yes
Neonate means baby. Like 4 months old. He a hungy baby.
urborgh the tomb of yagmouth
That land isn't on Arena sadly.

I have to say this - Arena players are spineless cowards! (exceptions apply).
“Close one here against blue green…”
You beat that player with 32 life remaining and he didn’t even get a single attack off lol
I wish Sorin wasn't Human so you could Mutate on him.
I hate those Human cards...
