I'm about to start working as a supporter for the elderly, helping them with cleaning and cooking, washing and everything. Watching these make me sad, we should be taking care of those who can't take care of themselves

It's a lot more complicated than I ever realised. Most of the cases are very sad but there's help and often there's great improvement, but it's always very difficult for them.
They only really go in once the social workers pick up that something's wrong. And that only happens when the neighbours complain of the stench. So if the stench stays inside, nobody notices

These videos fascinate me. I never understand how anyone completely destroys the home they live in and, once they leave, make everyone else clean up their mess.
unfortunately some people can’t actually keep cleaning their houses due to mental illness,physical illness or old age. but i agree if you have no excuse it’s selfish and disgusting but without that, these people wouldn’t have such interesting jobs 🤷🏽♀️
Look into severe Depression, Leaden Paralysis, Schtizofrenia, Animal Hoarding. I struggle to look after myself due to severe chronic Depression. I go through weeks of Leaden Paralysis, sleeping 18hours a day and tend to clean during bouts of Mania where I stay awake for 3 or 4 days at a tame. Its a fucked horrible existence. Rarely is this deliberate and its not selfish cause it's not deliberate. It's embarrassing. I never have guests over becuase of how embarrased I am. I have never dated anyone becuase I am ashamed of my inability to provide and inability to live healthily.
We have a man in our town, that picks up big piles of valueless garbage for free. When we were children, we asked him why he is doing it. The answer was simple, he said: " If i pick it up, it won't be here anymore."
I've heard of the freezing technique used on bed bugs as well. lol I love how the crowned pigeons are not at all bothered by the exterminator and camera person and are just hanging out next to him.
For real... when i have to clean my flat i always put this on my pc, and since it's not that bad at my place, watching this it always give me strenght to never let it become that bad, when it's our mess we never think it's disgusting but watching other people we realize we are messy (again never that bad... and if for some of you it is, well i'm sure it give you the courage to start, because sometimes it's not that you are hoarders, but you are lazy, it is my case )
Back in the day you'd get some money to buy carpet. These days it's move into bare floorboards & no curtains but usually a cooker & a fridge . Kitchen will be white 70's style MDF doors , cheapest ever,if it had to be refitted. (Best friend has been in Council Housing for 25 years).

it’s very sad that these people live like this with no help but we also need to remember some people don’t want help, we live downstairs to a hoarder who lives like this and we didn’t realise how bad it was until she flooder her flat and it came through our ceiling! we managed to help her get that sorted but she won’t like anyone in the flat to help her clean or anything, all we can do is offer to help we can’t force our way in if she doesn’t want it 🤷🏻♀️ it’s sad and we’re still trying to help but what else can we do if she won’t accept help?
A few years ago I kept complaining of a rank smell in our kitchen. I had cleaned everywhere, even under the units, had the fridge and oven out, dryer out, everything cleaned, but I couldn't move the washing machine. Eventually my OH pulled the washing machine out to check behind and it was SLUGS that were getting in through the hole in the wall that the water pipe went out of and were living at the back of, & on the back of, the washing machine! Glad I was out at the time. OH cleared it all up and we had the hole filled properly around the pipe. After that no more problems!
I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like those dogs never been walked, lately at least... :( I feel so sorry for the situation, both for them and their owner.
Sometime I think these cleaners need a full face oxygen mask to go into these grime scenes. That way they don’t have to smell all that. It’s the smell that gets me everytime. This place is going to need everything cleared out the carpets.

It’s infuriating that someone would let their house get this bad, but especially when it’s a a house that’s essentially been gifted to them by the counsel and the taxpayers. It’s despicable. I think people who leave a counsel house like that should never qualify for housing again.
An empathetic approach would also work... it could have been an elderly person who physically couldn’t look after themselves and they slipped through the healthcare cracks.
He died. He's not going to need a new council flat. Besides, these people have mental health difficulties and are classed as vulnerable adults. They get too old, or too overwhelmed to clean and then it just snowballs. They need help, not punishment.
If only it was that straight forward. The amount of people who are unable to cope with daily life, but have no support, no fanily, no nothing. People dying in the properties and no one knowing. Maybe if we made more effort to have a society, have a support network for everyone, there wouldn't be such an issue

Obviously they knew it was bad because the initial environmental workers left their plastic suits on the floor!!!! I wouldn't even do an assessment of these places without full body suit and shoe cover, mask and gloves!!! 😷 🙅I'm also shocked at how many people are still smoking inside their homes!!!!
I had to put some stuff in storage one year, and when I went to take it out, there was a dead German cockroach standing on its rear legs atop one of the tubs, looking like it was saluting. It was winter, and the roach had frozen in that position. I hate cockroaches, but that made me laugh so hard I couldn't hate it!
I am just feeling to volunteer. Joining these sympathic guys doing their job to keep our environment clean. Instead I am in a covid-lockdown-position, doing n000thing

I can't help but feel bad for the people who's homes ended up like this. It's usually a sign of severe mental illness. A dirty house = a disabled mind. Many don't want to be here but have issues beyond their own means. So sad.

I have a feeling that deceased tenant committed suicide. The only thing kept clean are the medals and trophies, and they've just become so detached they let it all fall apart until they couldn't take it anymore. Horrible.

Baffles me why yearly inspections are not carried out by the council agency that rent these houses and flats.
I live in the American equivalent in a Seniors' building and we get inspected at least once a year.
