I personally don’t find it dated, it’s still being copied today🤷🏻♂️ Aventus is clearly influenced by this. It’s a masterful blending and balance of light and dark elements. Masculine and assertive to the core and perhaps one of the greatest scents ever made.
Great to hear from you, Ben! That's a good point now that you say it. I admittedly didn't pick up on this when I tried it. I can certainly see where you're coming from, though. I personally find it a bit today dated compared to, for example, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Givenchy Gentleman, or even Brut. Nevertheless, I understand why you would refer to it as a masterfully blended fragrance!
As a high school student in the late 80s and early 90s in Montreal, Drakar Noir was inextricably connected with a certain crowd of young adults who did not have the highest moral standards, had a penchant for using colourful language, and boasted about getting into dance clubs with fake IDs. Good on you for having the courage for reviewing such an iconic and rather infamous scent.
Thanks for the kind words. To be fair, it does _smell_ like it should be associated with that sort of crowd! I love your eloquent way of phrasing it, though!
Great review. The batch code 38N600 is from 2016. My bottle is 2020. They increased the level of alcohol after 2017. My Drakkar is very harsh and zesty at opening. The longevity is almost 2-3 hours. Your bottle is probably little better. Softer and richer with more scent oils. Not as Cosmair edition but better than my bottle. Cheers man
Great review as always I do own one and i do enjoy to wear it some times however i never get any compliment because as you explain very well it is a bit dated .thank you and do wish that you review the classic fragrances so often .
Hi Ashy! Thanks for the kind words. Indeed, it does feel a little dated. We do plan on covering more classics as it's what we love to talk about. Anything in particular that you'd like to see on BU?
you are welcome yes if it is possible i would love to see your review on ONE MAN SHOW BY Jacques Bogart from 1980 that is unloved by many !and i do not know why.thanks
The first perfume I tried being a teenager was a cheap knockoff of Drakkar Noir, Gragon Noir😄. In the poor former USSR republic I lived in the 90's it was close to imposible to buy an original one.
I just got a 6.7 ounce bottle of this. They destroyed this classic gem 😮. It's completely neutered, and doesn't last more than 15 mins. Drakkar Noir isnt worth a flip anymore 😢
We've not noticed such a drastic change but unfortunately it does happen, where manufacturers will change the formula over the years without any kind of official announcement. Rafael
Don't blame the chest shaving goons- blame those annoying women who praise the sugary garbage. So annoying its like they all live in their cupcake lisa frank nightmare's and they want to drag the men into their tooth ache with them lol. Men are dumb though to also fall for their attention- it turns out womens compliments to men wearing sugar isnt because they are smitten and attracted to you- they just want to wear your scent LOL. Where's the reset button- we need to start over.

OMG you are right! Very much carries the same light & dark dance as Aventus. Both have that alpha like base you don't find in modern days.

Maybe your bottle is fake. I bought mine 2 years ago and it's fine, lasts about 10 hours.
My bottle last atleast 7 hrs I can smell it as my body heats up like if I'm moving around etc .
Try the Belcam classic match noir it’s cheap and is basically a clone of the 80s version
I prefer the old soapy men’s classics to the sugary shit that’s out now for chest shaving gym goons
Agreed. 👍
