Drakkar is a type of Viking boat....legendary fragrance for sure. Not dated. Still relevant and loved by people of all ages.

I think Drakkar means dragon, as in the dragon shaped bow at the front of their ships. They were said to protect the vikings from sea monsters.

It really has stood the test of time I love the scent, I wish creed did a high end impression of it with their scent “Viking” but instead it’s just a very floral scent lol

Finally went out and copped Drakkar. Smells like a very strong ocean scented body wash, and even Gilette shaving cream which I absolutely love the smell of. Very sharp, edgy, manly barbershop scent. Will be in my top 3 of signature scents for me. Thanks for the video.

@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Yes. I'm also really enjoying Polo Green, my wife thinks it smells out of this world and so do I. Too bad Azarro Pour Homme didn't work out. Bogart Sig, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, and Polo Green are extremely good choices. Those 3 I'll always have. Thanks Kelan for getting back.

Drakkar Noir is often portrayed as a corny old guy scent, but I'm a millennial and I was wearing Drakkar Noir in middle school in the early 2000s. It was one of the first scents that got me into colognes. Looking back, the common thread in all my favorite scents has always been patchouli. My all-time favorite is Calvin Klein Obsession.

I've been loving the scent of Drakkar Noir since the mid-80s and I don't think it smells dated at all even in 2020. But it's the biggest mystery in the fragrance world that they haven't come up with any concentrated versions of it until now. I'd be more than willing to pay a large sum of money if they release the EDP and/or Parfum version.

    • @ScentsOfSouthJersey
      @ScentsOfSouthJersey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

That would be awesome if they had a sport or intense version I would really like that, who knows why that never happened ? ! Thank you for watching and commenting dude!

@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I'd be more excited about an intense or EDP version of it. Maybe they can throw in a few new notes to modernize the DNA. My guess is the ones behind the brand may not be so business savvy to reap from such a well-known iconic brand, which is a real shame both for themselves and us fragrance lovers.

I was around in the 80s and I remember Drakkar Noir, but I never used it. I recently picked up a 1.7 oz Cosmair bottle and I really like it. I also acquired a vintage Caesars and I like that too. I don't own the current versions of either of those and I have so many frags that I really don't see myself ever getting them. Vintage rocks for Drakkar, Caesars, Halston Z-14, Polo Green, and Kellan's nemesis...Zino Davidoff.

    • @ScentsOfSouthJersey

Not at all dated, despite the side-eye snobbery 😄
The fact that it currently smells like no other contemporary scent should tell us something.
...and really, very few people care anyway. They just want to smell something good. I get compliments regularly.
I have some costy perfume, but that doesn't mean much to me. I buy what i like: resala, spicebomb extreme, grand soir, tuxedo, oud wood, oud noir intense and a few light summer scents.
    ...but drakkar is my daily.
Edit: I scrolled down and realized I've commented before. lol.
Oh well. Have another for the algo.

I totally agree that Drakkar Noir is one of the all-time greats. I just got it a few days ago (based on this review). It is one of those fragrances that you can be around all day without being bored or feel it getting cloying. I am still experimenting with the number of sprays to use... I tried about five today, mostly on my clothing, and didn't get much longevity or projection. But you are right, Kellan, an amazing, if not oft-mocked, masterpiece. I also find it interesting that it's a flanker that has far outlasted the original... imagine 1 Million Lucky being around 40 years from now while the original was discontinued.

    • @ScentsOfSouthJersey

Drakkar Noir is the precursor to modern day 'blue' scents - the shower gel note is unmistakable, however it has and old school edge that modern fragrances sorely lack. Timeless and still punches above its weight - in fact it could knock most modern blues out cold.
I hate blues, but I love Drakkar. Top tier composition.
I must admit, I never understood the barbershop association - which is to me a powdery/flowery fougere like Tabac/Brut green (ie geranium/iris/lavender)

on my skin DN has 2 very different phases. the start and the smell after 30 minutes. the first 20 minutes it's the lemonish, bergamot, mint, lavender, fir smell. that's what people call the barbershop scent I assume. after 30 minutes it changes. the lemonish smell disappears and it changes into a sweet, green, orientalish mix of lavender, leather, sandalwood scent, still with a bit of fir. no barbershop anymore. it smells fantastic. The performane isn't that bad as many claim in my opinion. the nose gets nose blind of it after 2 or 3 hours, which means, other people clearly smell it, but you don't. so you think you need more of it.

    • @ScentsOfSouthJersey

Have you tried the Belcam/Classic match clone? I think Drakkar gets a bad rap because, in the early '90s, EVERYTHING smelled like this. I think you could even get DK scented car air freshener trees to hang from the rearview. It does smell great though, and as you said, as long as you don't overdo it, people will like it.

jlmcgrot I have tried the classic match and I ended up gifting it to my younger nephew, it didn’t smell that close to my nose it was much sweeter and I was not a fan, they do make some great clones though, their polo for me. Drakkar Noir was the first fragrance I ever bought, and I nailed it first try with my preference of barbershop fougere: clean & agreeable but ultimately very masculine.
PS: A great alternative to the aftershave is Gillette Cool Wave, specifically the splash bottle. It's not an exact match, but for cheap it'll get you about 80% of the way there; think of it as Drakkar Noir Sport.

I own a cologne called tracker noir.
People has said it smells like drakkar.
My girlfriend bought me classic match drakkar noir by belcom for my upcoming birthday
I'll get to use it next month.
I've been told it's a match to the original 80s drakkar
I don't know what real drakkar smells like

Ben White the classic match of Drakkar by belcam I had and gave away it was to sweet I felt, vintage Drakkar is greener. But definitely go pick up a small bottle of current Drakkar noir it’s very good and cheap. Thank you for watching and commenting dude!
