    a small suggestion for resharpening the teeth on the mulcher. Use a 4.5"-5" metal sanding disk that sits behind a rubber backing pad, something zirconium in the 36 grit range would be just what you need. It will flex with the curvature of the tooth, and it will blend the cutting edges of the tooth better. I'm really not a fan of hard stone grinding wheels, especially in semi-confined area like that, you can accidentally hit an edge or another tooth, and those damn things tend to grenade when hit at goofy angles. The hard stone wheels have their purpose and can be effective, pipelining etc, but for all around general fabrication, I haven't used them in my shop or in the field for over 10 years.

    • @young11984
      @young11984 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      36 grit flap wheel for stainless is the winner for field sharpening those teeth, i havent used a hard stone grinding rock on a grinder in 20yrs or a fiber cut off disc in over 10yrs. Anything that can explode with minimum effort i got rid of lol

    White oak is a very strong wood but it’s very easy to steam and bend. The old wooden boat builders here in Maine used to use it to build boat frames. Thats what my 36’ wooden lobster boat was built of, 4” cedar strip over white oak frames. Built in 1962 and still floating today, though I had to fiberglass it because it started leaking between the stem and bow timber and I didn’t feel like babysitting it all the time.

    If you said in the beginning of the mulching I missed it, but what the landowner is gping to do with that area?
    If they are going to plant something there I hope the mulched pine doesn’t cause too severe change of the Ph oh the land.
    I mean here for example the use of chipped pine or spruce is not recommended to cover the land around garden plants because the acidity increases sometimes too much.

    Mulcher definitely saved time on this project. Glad you are on the mend young man, get as healthy as you can. That must have been the old 220, one reason I say that is because you are using basically your finger tips to operate the joy sticks, don’t see you doing that on the other excavators, and you did state you felt the old 220 operated smoother, I would agree with what I see. Thanks for the update, enjoyed the video.

    Back when, maintenance of shooting lanes and trails using a bushhog on a open canopy tractor and a few trimmers. Oh man what I'd have traded for a skid steer wirh a mulcher head or at least a brush cutter attachment. Every year felt like i lost a few pints of blood and maybe a foot of skin. Didn't matter what i had on, briars went right through it. If it wasn't briars. It was yellow jackets and hornets, it was straight up heat and deer flies.
    Finally got a enclosed cab backhoe to do it with, all day in the AC watching pissed off wasps tap on the outside of the glass.

    Howdy Chris here it is after one AM can't sleep so watching some of your videos and one was the gynormiss Popular tree. I could relate to that one. Had one in the backyard that had to get a crane in to help take down. The boom in order to pick the top out had to be extended to 115 ft. The person doing the cutting stayed in the tree until it was fully down. Left the stump to rot out.
    Question came to me while watching you. Has a big tree ever fallen on you and excavator before? You do really great work in whatever you attempt and really enjoy watching the video's.

Lots better than the old days of trying to brush hog to keep it down as it would have needed many times to do that over the time since timbering. Chris getting 'er done! Back and forth allows the mulcher to better process the material. You CAN just drive forward but it's going to be a lot slower and you will need to make a second pass at least. Forward only does work for very low or small scrub. Anything bigger is best done with back and forth

    Sucks having the bug. The grandkids all had it so of course we got it.
    We are (middle Tennessee) in line to get 4-6 inches of snow starting in about a hour. Then a couple days of 0° lows.
    The Kroger alert went out yesterday so the stores are about wipped out.

      Looks like we’re all in for a deep freeze this week. 3 degrees tomorrow night here in Central Ontario. With snow.

    I had to wear my safety glasses for this one. Those pine needles & pieces flying back would do some serious eye damage.
