Moral of the story, check your oil before you fire up the engine. The rods sound like they are beating the heck out of the bearings. IF your truck makes a rattle.TURN it Off . That sounds like 50k miles of wear in 50 seconds pro tip: see if you can turn the engine by hand if its been sunk. otherwise you risk bending rods, valves, or having the bottom end exiting via the pan. Life is for learning, Several flushes will not be needed. That man just needs an oil change. We all just learned to keep a sealable drain pain and a jug of oil on us when we know were going to encounter water. (Along with a rhino rholl up tool kit of course)
New wranglers have the auto e-brake that engages as soon as a door is opened. You have to put the transfer case in Neutral and turn key off to avoid that problem. Total pain when towing or opening the door to see better. Great job on recovery. Keep up the great content.
Just found your channel a day or 2 ago and love it, have learned so much about recovery, I would dare say I’ve learned more about snatchblocks and the ins and outs of wenching in the past day than months of watching Matt’s off road with all respect to him. Just got my first wench for my JL can’t wait to use what I’ve learned here one day! Also I’m in South Georgia if you need a hand with some northern recoveries!
As always great documentation of a recovery. The new JLs and JTs have an all electronic transmission and will Autopark when it thinks it should be in park. When he was trying to put it in neutral under the cover I was trying to yell through the screen. He was so close. There is an orange loop to pull towards the drivers side to put it in neutral. You don’t even move the shifter.
Yea Richloam is pretty wet. We got a motorcycle stuck out there one time 3 grown men couldn’t get it loose for about 30 minutes. So glad to see a big 4x4 come around the corner to extract it for us. The rear wheel was frozen because of the mud. We poured swamp water on it till it freed up. Oh and watch the alligators and snakes out there. Buddy of mine ran over one that was submerged, didn’t seem to hurt it, but it surprised me because it popped up right in front of me.
My 21 PW has a auto park feature. If it’s in gear or in neutral and the door opens or some other criteria is met it automatically goes into park. Maybe the jeep was new enough it would do that. Good thing I have a manual transfer case. Just hope I never get in that predicament. Great video!
If shackles are unavailable for connecting 2 lines place a strong dowel or intermediate item between the center of the knot. It will make it easy to remove after the job is complete. That way you don’t have to cut it after use.
That first spot you were looking for the manual gear release was the right place, there’s a red tab in there you have to pull, he must have not felt it.
Dude glad I found this channel. Rad that y’all have a network of people to help other off roaders.. man. If I had a buck for every recovery I’ve done.. for myself.. by myself lol.. man.. I live for this shit tho.
Tough recovery; but your diligence paid off. Knowing how much these Jeeps cost, it always pains me to see the damage deep water/mud can do. Slow and easy almost always works better for me than fast and showy. Love the videos!
This is why I preach to get familiar with your vehicles before using them. Everything on the new jeeps are electric including the transmission so if it's not running or thinks it has an issue it will automatically engage park no matter what positin the gear shift is in. There is a neutral override in all of them for towing purposes on this jeep I believe it's under the steering column and it will have an orange pull cord. Just a learning experience for the next one.
Need to drain those diffs and Trans too. Swamped my K5 one time and the diffs looked like coffee with cream. Anytime it sits in water, it always finds a way in to everything.
Been missing your posts, glad to see a new post! Tough seeing a nice ride like that get swamped. Nice pull even with the snafu. Like you said, lesson learned.
Welcome to Richloam and some of the flatwoods of Fl. I love that place. Oh, when it's in the swamp and you drive through it and it starts going up the sides of your tires, it's no longer a "puddle" ;-)
Good one,, same kinda electronic transfer case used in like Grand Cherokees seems like. Twist knobs instead of dogleg shifting. Thanks again for always helping explain the situation and recovery options. Sucks his Jeep took on so much water he was having a good ole time obviously,, motor milkshakes theses days cost 200$ bucks to flush one good. Maybe more with prices of oil and such.. Even when you think it’s flushed good, go one more time with good oil and filter to be safe, crank bearings hate even a spec of sand. Keep rocking man your my first call when I’m stranded again!
Another great video! Really thought the kinetic rope would have done it too but nothing beats a winch. Tough break for the wrangler owner, hope it turns out to be nothing major
Great video definitely had me and my girlfriend stumped after you said they y’all moved it before with the winch and then it somehow went back into 4-low when y’all tried to pull it out ready for the next vid
Thanks for the education on all your videos. Love rhino products, hoping to add more to my recovery gear arsenal little by little. Definitely need a good kinetic rope.
its funny how these young guys talk as if they have 40 50, 60 year of knowledge doing something, but really there just doing what the rest of us Do, and thats learning as we go along,,,,
should be able to use a small flat head screw driver to pop out the button by the shifter and theres is an over ride button or lever with orange tag to put in to neutral
Not sure if you noticed the Neutrol was flashing. it was still in autopark. Glad you got it started but you really had to pull that strap under the shifter. I recomend you practce how to force Neurtrol in your drive way engine off.
seen the snatch straps joined together like that if you can hammer them on a piece of wood all the way round the knot they will usually loosen off and save them both and is the same for knotted ropes hope this helps you and your viewers
As a current long time military vehicle recovery operator.you should've ran a 2 to 1 if you have enough on your winch.better to run over than under even under easy conditions.i agree with you that winching is always better option.you should use your genetic rope to tow vehicle away from the disabled area.with a disabled vehicle like this in water.try to start getting the exhaust out of the waterfirst thing then maybe you can get lucky that it comes out under its own power.thats usually what we do in the military
Awesome good information I am saving some money to buy all Rhino I have been looking on these but just bought my first gladiator can’t buy all in one go but the information is appreciated keep it coming
Hey Wes, I just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos a lot, and I'm also learning a lot from them. I've been a sub for some time now, I'm pretty new to offroading with a Jeep, I was more into dirt/adventure motorbikes before going 4 wheels... and low. So... first year with a winch on my JLU... and I'm learning as much as I can from channels like yours. ATM I have a tree saver and 3/4" D-rings from Rhino USA.... kinetic rope from Rugged Ridge... tow strap from TGL... 10K Warn winch with synthetic rope. I'm part of a local rescue FB group. Getting in there... trying to learn. Cheers from Canada. I hope your channel blows up, it has great content!
@@4x4rescue74 Yeah, one thing missing (I noticed because I wanted one) is the snatch block. It's there but sold by another store and it's way more expensive than it should. I'll probably get another brand for the moment and grab the Rhino USA later.
If you can get ahold of that guy tell him to buy moa by bg, it's an oil additive I stand by as a mechanic and highly recomen using it in an off road rig can be purchased on amazon
CAI in a jeep is not a good idea. searched recently for options and they all are bad. so either snorkel or stock. my 2016 did some mud bathing as deep as this guy and I did not go in slow. no issues with water. had to be pulled out with another jeep a few times that day. btw you will get some dirt in your ball bearings and it will sing for you till the day you replace em. so not sure if it is worth it to drown your jeep for no good reason. Nice of you to rescue this guy. I get to do a few every year on the path to 4x4 beach, last was a fwd mini van, no business to be where he was...
Glad to see a new video I've been waiting for one..Man that sucker in stuck ..great job getting it unstuck...That jeep sould be fine with a couple of flushee
Nice, messy, sloppy recovery (environment not technique). I too was yelling at the screen about neutral, lol. Just got some Rhino USA soft shackles, now looking at the 7/8" kinetic rope. Thanks for the video!
Yeah some people put 4x4 low, neutral on right shifter and whinch from outside the Jeep not being on park to break without the need of applying brakes. Never tried it myself.
I don't know the name of that trail but it looks like he was headed from center grade to south grade. I've been there before but I stopped and turned around. I love it out there in Richloam
Wes you are one of the best every recovery is a learning experience and you guys figured it out which is the most important thing. so in my opinion that is a job well done keep up the great work
Nice Recovery man ! Sux for that dude tho, hopefully he'll be back out on the trails without much money. I cracked up at the pic of your Ranger LOL DANG Son that thing was sunk 🤣
The jeep go's back in park after u leave the seat or open the door so it's really in park also there is a red lever that u have to pull in that cover in the middle

Another reason I love having a manual transmission. no key, no start, no problem getting it in neutral. Good recovery and great video.

It’s crazy I saw him post he was stuck and was gonna try and help but he had left for the night, there’s no way I would of gotten him out. Great work
There's an old cowboy saying "The slow way is the fast way". This is a case in point.

It was tricky. I knew there was something around there..lol

You never give up and always get’m out. Always great to hear the helpful tips along the way.

Like your recoveries glad to see you back at it Can’t wait till the next one on Monday
You make a great video you make it seem like we are right there with you helping with the job
That first spot you were looking for the manual gear release was the right place, there’s a red tab in there you have to pull, he must have not felt it.
Thus was a great recovery it showed that its nit all fun and game and it also showed why you don't just plow a hole full of water. Great job
Ran across these guys towing vehicles on the beach and now 3 videos in
I missed your winch outs .glad your back .hope you get jeep soon .great job as always
Dude glad I found this channel. Rad that y’all have a network of people to help other off roaders.. man. If I had a buck for every recovery I’ve done.. for myself.. by myself lol.. man.. I live for this shit tho.

Yay recovery video. This time I’m watching from PCB FL.
Great recovery. Nice having good friends.
Great recovery! I learn something new each time you do one of these recoveries.
Glad to see some more videos hope the Jeep is back up and running soon. Hopefully getting some Rhino USA gear for Father’s Day…great work

Holy Jeepers man! That was a tough recovery. Alls well that ends well .Good job. Cheers from B.C. Canada
This recovery was pretty entertaining ! great tips throughout the video !

Crocs are perfect for almost all times. Love em and gotta have the 4x4 straps on the back locked in lol. Great to see you're back home.
Got to put them in 4-lo
Yesssss sir
I couldnt imagine doing rescues without a quality multitool on my hip. Victorninox with locking attachments. 👍👍✌
Welcome to Richloam and some of the flatwoods of Fl. I love that place.
Oh, when it's in the swamp and you drive through it and it starts going up the sides of your tires, it's no longer a "puddle" ;-)
Nice job working through it!!! Its hard with all these new electric transmissions and transfer cases to know how to get all them into neutral.
Enjoy when I see you put out a new video also something to learn. Keep up the good work
i love the education you give when doing the tows!
Been waiting on a new video. Just discovered your channel a week or so ago and have been binge watching! Good stuff. Thanks for doing this stuff!

Love watching the hard work y’all do. Thank you for sharing.
Really enjoy these recovery videos. But they got me thinking twice about hitting up some trails.
As long as you have a winch and recovery gear you can make it through a ton of stuff
Got that same Strap. After flat towing many miles and pulling a few friends out it no longer pretty but still works well.
Great video as usual. Driving through unfamiliar trails with water hazards is risky. Good advice throughout the video though. Keep them coming.
Another great video! Really thought the kinetic rope would have done it too but nothing beats a winch. Tough break for the wrangler owner, hope it turns out to be nothing major
Glad to see back making the awesome videos
Great video definitely had me and my girlfriend stumped after you said they y’all moved it before with the winch and then it somehow went back into 4-low when y’all tried to pull it out ready for the next vid
Thanks for the tips on recovery. Newbie here, need all the help I can get
Thank you I needed this after a crap weekend and best of luck on winning the ratchet straps everyone
Thanks for the education on all your videos. Love rhino products, hoping to add more to my recovery gear arsenal little by little. Definitely need a good kinetic rope.

Lots of great advice! I hope your trip went well and I've been looking forward to a new video. Crocs for the win! 😆
Bought some soft shackles and a synthetic rope because of your videos!

I can honestly say I don’t know how I ended up here watching people get towed out the mud but here i am 5 videos later tuned in 😂

You guys were definitely muddin!
I watched this during my lunch hour. Man, that was some deep water.
Awesome good information I am saving some money to buy all Rhino I have been looking on these but just bought my first gladiator can’t buy all in one go but the information is appreciated keep it coming
What a hot mess. Good job on getting him out. Hopefully the Jeep owner gets a winch after getting the Jeep fixed.
Enjoy watching your posts!

Hey thanks for the support, we will have more Rhino products on Amazon Canada soon.
@@4x4rescue74 Yeah, one thing missing (I noticed because I wanted one) is the snatch block. It's there but sold by another store and it's way more expensive than it should. I'll probably get another brand for the moment and grab the Rhino USA later.
Good viewing....I lived that life at a younger age...!!! Always fun...new vehicle tech, sucks !!!
Great job guys.
If you can get ahold of that guy tell him to buy moa by bg, it's an oil additive I stand by as a mechanic and highly recomen using it in an off road rig can be purchased on amazon
The new jeep what a wonder. Change the Trans. Transfer case. And both different for sure.
Great to see another video, I always learn something new 🙂🙂🙂

Transfer cases and interlocks, what fun
Wes, My Ram will automatically go into park when the drivers door opens that may have been what that Jeep was doing and why you could not flat tow.
Very possible, I didn’t think of that
Glad to see a new video I've been waiting for one..Man that sucker in stuck ..great job getting it unstuck...That jeep sould be fine with a couple of flushee
Sucks not having your rig since you know all your own gear. Good recovery and hopefully the guy's jeep is ok.
It never fails when you don’t have your own vehicle it seems that you hit one problem after another. Great video keep up the recoveries.
Nice, messy, sloppy recovery (environment not technique). I too was yelling at the screen about neutral, lol. Just got some Rhino USA soft shackles, now looking at the 7/8" kinetic rope. Thanks for the video!
Grate video can't wait till next week
Dude that pic of your Ranger was awesome! 😂
Great video, thanks for sharing... If they were all not eventful, they would be boring.
Yeah some people put 4x4 low, neutral on right shifter and whinch from outside the Jeep not being on park to break without the need of applying brakes. Never tried it myself.
Well that was a learning experience for sure!!
Thanks for the new vid!!!!! Been waiting for another bad ass rescue
that one turned out to be worse than expected but finally got it good job
Keep up the good content, I always learn something new!
Wes,the tailgater is nicely set up and a great advertiser for your great.hope didnt bend any valves .great👍🇺🇸 video
Sweet recovery rig!
Great recovery!! Jeep back in shop though! keep the videos coming.
I don't know the name of that trail but it looks like he was headed from center grade to south grade. I've been there before but I stopped and turned around. I love it out there in Richloam
Been watchin your channel alot recently and gotta say u got some good content

😅I just love this kind of stuff 😂when our desire to try overcome the local situation but we see mud and we can’t help ourselves
Just started watch pretty cool how you help all these people
And that's why I miss. Fl. Nice straps
Stock paper filter will absorb the water aftermarket if not maintained will just let the water in.
Awesome Video, i learned something new on transfer case. Thanks.
Nice Recovery man ! Sux for that dude tho, hopefully he'll be back out on the trails without much money. I cracked up at the pic of your Ranger LOL DANG Son that thing was sunk 🤣
You got him out once again good job!!
Always helpful information.
One of my favorite comments, I use on myself a lot. " it takes a lot of effort to be lazy"
Please post an update about how bad the damage was to the engine. The knock sounded bad enough to have something bent due to water damage.
I love riding in Richloam.
The jeep go's back in park after u leave the seat or open the door so it's really in park also there is a red lever that u have to pull in that cover in the middle
