    Your video was a life saver! I have been looking at a nasty oven door for years. Thought the only way to get it cleaned was an expensive service call. Realized that the process was tedious but not at all hard. And now I have a clean oven door. Thank you, thank you!

    Thank you Greg, for breaking down this task into manageable steps. We worked on our oven door this afternoon. It's now spotless and reassembled--with no leftover parts! And it functions beautifully. Your video was the roadmap that inspired us to undertake this project; and it was the perfect guide from start to finish.

    I REALY appreciated your video! The glass top of my stove broke last week and I got lucky by finding the same stove on a resale site for cheap. I swapped mine out for the second hand one and will just need to swap the bottom oven element from mine to the new one to have a fully functioning unity that looks brand new! It did need a good cleaning however so I used your vid to take the door apart and clean all the glass too! Next I will finish dissembling my stove to keep the essentials parts for spares. Many of the components for this oven are not available anymore as my digital model has been discontinued. The parts that are still availablehe are very expensive especially the digital panels! Worst come to worst, I could sell parts for both to buy a new one LOL! I love that folk like you share your knowledge to teach others. Keep them coming! Take care

    That middle screw is the warranty screw. The only way to get it off is to break it off. There is no screw head for that bolt . That lets the company know it has been opened.

    Thanks... interesting to see that your door actually has 3 pieces of glass... on another video I watched there seems to have been one piece of glass in the front door side and then one piece of glass under it.... your oven has 3 pieces... perhaps the other video I watched the person didn't have to get to that 3rd piece.. We have double 30" doors that we need to clean and this video really helped... .thanks.

  • @donmiller61
    @donmiller61 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent video. But with all the videos showing how to do this, ISN'T THIS A MAJOR MANUFACTURER DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED FOR EVERY OWNER?

    • @Thomasappliance
      @Thomasappliance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Don Miller, the problem is that there needs to be vent in the door or the glass would get too hot, those vents are where the spills from the stove go into. Every manufacturer has this issue and probably always will.

    • @homemovies751
      @homemovies751 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thomasappliance I haven't started taking ours apart yet, nor have I studied oven door design long, but I do not accept that this could not ("always") be avoided. Off the top of my naive non-repairman head, I would suggest that if the vents HAVE to be on top, how about a drip pan under the vents that drains somewhere around the glass instead of directly down to the glass? Or perhaps, put all those vents on the side so there's no direct gravity-driven path straight to the glass? Or cynically, is this just a ploy to keep appliance repairmen employed LOL?

    I have a KitchenAid model KODE500ESS03 double oven which has a two-pane "glass pack" in each door in between the outer door panel and the inner door panel. The inner side of the glass pack (between the two panes) has condensation marks, etc. and needs cleaned. Any way to take this glass pack apart, instead of having to buy a whole new assembly?

    • @Thomasappliance

    Hi Greg - Thanks so much for this video. Our Kitchenaid was slightly different from this one, as the screws holding the outer part of of the door on were on the sides (not the bottom and top like your video). We somehow missed the first step you showed with the popping out of the hinges and once I started removing the screws on the side near the hinge, the hinge popped and moved into a very 90 degree position. I'm wondering if I'm in deep doo doo now. I've cleaned the glass and I'm trying to get the hinges to move back using a wrench and sort of struggling. Can this be done and do I need to do it in order to get the door back on. I have a KODE507ESS. Thanks so much if you have any advice.
