My Dad recently died young, I find myself needing to take over the things he used to do because my mum suffers with a debilitating bone condition. I am also disabled but less so, I just need to pace myself. Videos like this help me because I can’t ask Dad for advice on how to take over. Thank you sir.

Thanks Doc! I just subscribed. I have a Craftsman 3000psi power washer. My husband bought it but used it once! He passed away and now I have to do chores I didn’t have to do before! Something goes wrong just about everyday and it takes an ‘act of Congress’ to get things done! We all know how slow that is!!! I’ll be watching your videos and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Have a blessed weekend!👍🏼✌🏼

Thanks for the video Doc. I shared this with my 16yr old son who is doing pressure washing in the neighborhood this summer as his job. It's really helped in the amount of time it takes him. One question I have though. How do you deal with a driveway the slopes down toward the garage door rather than sloping out to the street?

perfect how to vid Doc thanks. ill be doing my first driveway for a customer tomorrow morning. quite a few car oil stains and i pretreated them yesterday with purple power industrial strength degreaser, hosed it off after it sat for about 5 minutes, then repeated the process one more time last night. it was better but when i pressure wash tomorrow morning i told her she'll notice a huge difference. I think I'm going to treat the stains 5 minutes before i start pressure washing and then they should be pretty clean 👍 thanks again Doc

Thank you for the video! I power washed two segments of my sidewalk yesterday and it took forever. To be honest, I didn’t even know it was a thing until yesterday when I tested out a black section of concrete and was amazed! I never heard of a surface cleaner and will be buying it this week. I want to power wash inside the garage and was thinking I would hang up paint tarps to keep the dry wall dry, but this will be so much dryer too. Thanks again!

Enjoyed your video! I have been cleaning a really dirty concrete driveway with a surface cleaner. My tip is for anyone like me that has weak feet is to get an office chair with rollers and have a seat while cleaning your driveway. I’m not finished with my driveway yet I plan to also use hearing protection that allows me to listen to the radio while I clean when I finish the job.
A second tip is that if it’s going to raise the your home value as much as Doc predicts you might want to wait and pressure wash after tax evaluation.

I know this is an old post and it may have been addressed already but it caught my eye. When I first started go right to left but found it easier to walk it forward then back. This keeps the splash brush from grabbing as head will stay floating on the attaching joint as it will pivot up and down but not right and left so the head stays level. I overlap about quart to a third. This keeps my from causing a dirty seam. Try it both way and do what you feel is best for you.

I bought several items on your recommendation, all were great except for one item. The Gilmour 6 Inch Faucet kink protector. The first one I received from Amazon, it blew out after 20 minutes of use. Amazon which is a good company sent me a second one. That one blew out in 28 minutes. The hose flys off of the connector - each one blew off from different sides. You may want to reconsider your recommend. Thanks for all the great videos.

Thanks for your video I have actually been doing some sidewalks recently and parking spots at church and I'm to much of a moron to assume something like this exits - I'm about halfway done then I ran across this video - though I have an electric pressure washer that puts out a measly 2000 psi - Lowe's had one of these for my model for $30.00 since I was going today to do more pressure washing and saw this video last night I went ahead and bought it - did not shop around even this little gizmo works fine it is 100 x faster and 10 x easier - the tilting helps too - what is interesting is that youtube which I watch every day pushes videos to you according to what you have been watching and I have not researched or checked out anything about cleaning, pressure washing, nothing - yet your video popped up as something I might be interested in. So I think God blessed me by providing it and saying, "Click on this - your doing pressure washing too" What a blessing.

You definitely know what you’re talking about when it comes to cleaning the concrete. I’m glad to know there’s people out there that have enough common sense to figure things out as far as sloping concrete and what to do and not to do. However, I think if you got yourself a 4000 PSI machine, and a turbo tip rated for 4000+ psi, plus a wand that comes up to about the bottom of your pecks, or just a little bit higher than that, you would change your tone and never use a surface cleaner again. I mean maybe you wouldn’t, but if you haven’t already you should consider that. You look like a pretty tall guy, I’m 6 foot four, and my wand from the point where it screws into the gun to the ground is 37 inches. Basically what I’m trying to say is get yourself a wand that you don’t have to bend over for, Dewalt makes a great one with a swiveling handle. Also, stick a tennis ball behind the handle once you’ve squeezed it. That way your hands won’t be dying from holding 4 4000 PSI machine for a couple hours. I think the turbo Turbo tip and tennis ball would change your mind, it’s way faster and because you can clearly see what’s going on as it’s happening you can erase those shadow lines with twice the efficiency. Hope you get the chance to at least try a rig like that someday. Good video.

I do it with a 25 deg head because the surface cleaner attachment doesn't seam to get it as clean and it leaves streaks also If your not carefull. The 25 deg nozzle is much slower but it's a really great result. I don't have that streaking problem you speak of because there is nothing left on the concrete at all. Nothing left to streak. Next time I'll use both and prove it.

I noticed at the beginning of your efforts to pressure wash you left the pump running without water going through the wand While you were describing something. I have a friend that works in the shop that repairs small motors and pumps. Pressure washer pump failure usually happens as a result of people over heating the pump. They let it run without water running through it there by ruining the pump. He suggest that you not let the pump run for any more than 30 seconds without it pumping water.

Absolutely RJ!! Generally, most pressure washers owners manuals will say the same thing but who reads those,eh?? At the very least, throttle back to idle and be as quick as you can getting back to the job at hand...

      Agree.
But, many washers auto-bypass input water if left running, specifically to keep the temp within spec; I have a low/mid price, gas-powered Troy-Bilt that does this.

Was scrolling down to say the season thing. I own a pressure washing business and have never had an engine fail, it's always the pumps. They run really hot and use the water flowing through them to cool themselves so when you let it idle like that it heats up REAL hot.

Doc has anyone told you that you look like Tom Hanks? I liked your video, but in my life's experience I have never seen a driveway that has the middle where the water is supposed to drain. All of them have been higher in the middle and drain the water to the outside. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Oh, when I left this post I was 49 years old.

  • @bojk13
    @bojk13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

One thing that I'm very conscious about is never letting my pressure washer stay running for more than 30 seconds in bypass (basically meaning while the trigger isn't being pulled ) because the pump isn't being cooled by new water from the inlet. The water is just recirculating and being as that it is under very high amounts of pressure the temperature will rise fairly quickly and could cause failure. I have heard that if you leave your pump in bypass mode for more than 30 seconds and then pull the trigger that you could risk cracking the ceramic valves because of thermol shock the caused by the inflow of cool water .......just saying

Try a concrete-sealer after it is fully dry and you won't have to pw the driveway, sidewalks and pathways nearly as often. When it's wet, it will still look dry as it won't absorb water like an un-sealed concrete driveway.

Good video, thanks for posting! I've been eyeballing these attachments and was teetering, but you've convinced me, I am definitely going to get one. Couple questions for you please: 1A. How many times a year do you power wash (PW) your drive and sidewalks? 1B. I ask because I am wondering if it's possible to PW too many times, does it have a negative impact on the stability or appearance of the cement? 2. Do you ever apply a seal coat after a certain amount of PW? 3. In the beginning of the vid, after the first section I noticed white spots where the cement was still wet, how do you get rid of those? Do you go back over with a nozzle or ??? OK, that's all my questions. Thanks again for posting, this was very informative!

I bet that spinning hovercraft would be great for pavers!
Do you use any concrete sealer once you've finished power washing. Up north we use that quite a bit to help mitigate salt damage and It can definitely increase the life of the concrete or pavers.

Love your vids and how detailed you are! I have a power washer close to yours in cleaning units. When I first bought my unit, which was at least 20 years ago, I thought it was the best $750 I had ever spent, and still do! I have cleaned everything with it and it still amazes me every time. I have used it on cement and thought it did a pretty good job until I tried the turbo nozzle for it. Nothing can compare! Yes it takes longer. Yes it will leave swirls if you go too fast so I don't go too fast, and no, I'm not stupid, but as far as cleaning, you won't beat it, even with this clever rotary attachment your using. I'm happy to hear someone else speak out against chemicals too. I see a lot of companies using soft wash in my area. I've tried it myself but it's so lung irritating I can't stand it! I'd rather use the high pressure and spend more time than use bleach, unless of course the surface your cleaning is resistant to it then I would use some combination of each.

God bless you for not being selfish n share your experiences with all details. People like you is what the world needs. Just one question, after the driveway being washed n sprayed the 30 seconds liquid, need a final rinse or just leave it with it working?. Thank you. Blessings.

Love this thanks you so much for taking the time to make this. You said no chemicals on the concrete then a commercial comes on for simply green and it’s being used in the pressure washer on concrete 😂😂

Rented the brush from HD, and he's definitely right about the walkway, driveway, and curb!
I prefer to wet my driveway makes it easier to do. Also get a push broom and you'll be good

Funny this popped up on my suggested videos after I just washed my backyard driveway today. It was full of algae or mold and I was sick of it. I used my wand with a 40° spray pattern and it looks pretty good after it dried. I also have a Ryobi 3100 psi washer so I don't have to get too close at 40° spray pattern. I will get the surface cleaner for my front driveway though. I'm sure it will take half the or even a quarter of the time compared to the wand. Thanks for the great video.

Suggested probably because your devices are listening to you.

Just go slower instead of going over the same area. There is a perfect one-pass speed, but you have to walk heel-toe, very slow. Saves all the extra waving around which only wears you out on big job.

The concrete cleaner devices are good for under 3,000 PSI pressure washers. Chemicals and acid still works the best with a commercial grade pressure washer.

Definitely helped !! Expecially with don't push down on the brush 🖌️ just let it ride on the top of the cement and slow n steady wins the race go for for better results if you go slow

Nah, it's called a power reel mower, with a roller on the back. Actually pretty easy to do, but requires a fairly flat or "levelish" ground.

Good idea for covering the pressure washer, especially for rain. I think I'll use a plastic storage cover (instead of the cardboard box) and drill a few holes in it for wire tie-downs.

Just used your affiliate links to make some purchases. Thank you for the info! I just bought a pressure washer today for my use, but I started thinking about doing driveways in the neighborhood to pay for it and maybe make some side income. To think I was going to use the nozzle.... again, thanks for the enlightening video and all of the helpful tips and tricks! I can't wait to use the surface cleaner!!! I didn't even know such a thing existed!

Gotta use chemicals to kill the algea and mold in the cracks of older concrete.... especially after you force water down into it.

    • @cashen7384
      @cashen7384 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

water is already naturally in concrete... so no you dont have to use chemicals. its harder on the concrete makes it crack faster and not last as long. just keep it clean by powerwashing it..m

I rigged mine with wheel castors from harbor freight. It stays just a smidge above the concrete and there are no visible streaks. W/out it you can see light streaks. It makes a dramatic difference
