Hey Baradul. Very happy to see you running my mods, especially since you enabled mech salvage V2. A hint on that: you can mix and match variants. You need, however, at least enough parts to build the CT. This amount depends on the configured number of required parts. In your case it is 2. Apart from that I am eager to see you using some of the Rogue tech inspired equipment I added to the equipment collection. Love the content. Actually got me back into MW5 with the YAML suite. The second mission where you kept overheating/shutting down was from the vonBiome terrain. Some of the smoke vent are like, heat geysers. They do like 20 heat. Tripped me up a few times(multiple maps have em).
Just a heads up Bara, you can destroy a lot of the scenery in VonBiomes maps. Those large chunks of ice at the beginning that boxed you in being a prime example.
bought mw5 and installed all the same mods because of this series - I love it! my career started with some good mechs tho, i started with a centurion, assassin, and 2 locusts. all the same starting stuff that you chose except i picked vanilla year start
In reference to the smoke, it is more fun watching you play a game when you are having the most fun / enjoying it to the fullest. My top vote is whatever settings makes you enjoy the game the most 👍 and my actual opinion is that I like the smoke, adds to immersion as you said P.S. I'm not sure if you knew this, but I believe if you drop from too high up / with too much speed you can damage your leg armor. So holding the jump jets until you run out and then just falling back to ground seemed like a bad move. When I use jump jets I would save some fuel for when falling and feather it to slow my descent to try and save my leg armor. Most helpful in longer battles, but with shorter engagements, or not using them at all haha, it doesn't seem to matter too much. Enjoying the content! You actually got me into this game, I didn't know it existed until I saw one of your videos for the first time
On Melting Glaciers, if Ice Shards block a way you can also destroy them with some damage.. it takes a little, but it can be done :) Best read the vonBiomes Field Manual PDF, explaining everything;)
Was this something that changed in an update? I remember seeing the recommendation for this biome (and a couple others) to make sure your mechs had JJs back when I first grabbed the mod. If it's been in there from the beginning that makes the nightmare Attack and Defend mission even more of a nightmare! I had to do a giant U of the map because the enemy base was only open from the south and only one mech had jets. Blasting through the ice would have made that mission _so_ much easier.
The second last battle where you emerge from the battlefield got me thinking, too bad MW5 doesn't have a 3rd person camera angle. Watching your victorious lance appearing from the smoking wreckage would be an amazing view. Keep the smoke, mechs leave a lot of carnage.
you passed on a really good light mech. the flea 15 is a really good mech. fast= hard to hit, small lasers work great in close and the mg's are great for crits and destroying bases. i use them in all difficulty's. they are also cheap to repair.
I always take a light fast, armoured, jump jetted mech for end game, plus 3 heavy for ai. I prefer Hero Raven with endo+hardened armour, plus 4 laser + 2 mg + ams + some ecm + masc or supercharger, prefer clan xl engine so I can afford losing one torso. Such a great pleasure… Early carrier start I still prefer a light ordinary jenner or something like that min base speed of 100 plus jump jets.
Nope...keep the smoke and play how it is that YOU have fun, were just here to watch and catch some of your playstyle and builds, keep the vids coming man!!
I loaded up a similar modded game, and was getting obliterated. I was left with my cored, disarmed Locust 1M and urbanmech... And I was stressing on how I could ever survive the campaign. I turned the locust into the only possible thing I could - I sold my other cored locust for an engine 60, maxed the Armor, and threw in two LRM5s. Couldn't afford a laser. It was only LRMs. Surprisingly, that thing carried. Did a base defense with it and the urbanmech. Was impressive. I kept using that thing, putting a laser on it, and it pulled weight up to seeing heavies. God bless that low, cursed little thing
I agree am a military fan here so I understand like when I see this all the fire and smoke I think this.... There going to be a fire fight and it also tells me a battle had happened here and I love it
With the "parts" style salvage, using inferno's to shutdown enemy mech's then head shot would now be extremely effective, cheesy but effective. Costs won't go up since you never get a full mech.
BTW base tank health with YAML is X3 that might be stacking with scary tanks. I set mine to X2 and i'm not using scary tanks, they seem beefy enough as is.
Good choice. Smoke is cool. Removing the smoke would be like playing a with your monitor at 100% brightness so you can see in the dark. (Which I did as a kid. Shame on me.)
leave the settings my pc cant run that high so its nice to see it. you can put that light rifle on the urbie to sync up with the large laser. the AI is good with them and they dont shoot that often anyway so the long cool down is ok
I like the smoke, i use the same mods myself. It taught me to bind the heat vision key to a place where i can easily reach it, because it is the only vision mode that pierces through it.
I'm honestly surprised the jump jets have not been taken off the phoenix hawk yet. To be fair I usually drop JJs too but it's nice to see you playing a bit differently.

Great content, great youtube personality! You have a relaxing and intelligent manner that makes watching enjoyable. Subscribed. I've been away from battletech and long ago played a version of mechwarrior. Started playing roguetech a few weeks ago. Watching Mechwarrior 5, it appears easy to kill and easy to not take damage. Dispatching mechs left and right and omg, killing vehicles that quickly. I utterly hate fighting against vehicles in RT. I'm sure your skills and experience are a significant reason for that. However, after playing RT and delighting at even taking out a single light mech due to the challenge RT poses, Mechwarrior 5 seems far less punishing. It seems much faster paced than I thought it would, running and gunning everywhere. I want to pick it up, not sure the pure shooter approach appeals to me. But I want to try it! Darn. Are there mods out there similar to RT that expand the experience?
VonBiome is problematic. Its made so that you sometimes do need jumpjets but theres no way to tell beforehand and its annoying as hell. I once got a map where every 2 steps, my mech would hit some rock spike and slow down to a crawl. But the diversity is there and when you do get a great biome, its awesome. As for the smoke ...I think its a must. Nothing says "battlefield" more than fire and smoke with wreckage.
I like the smoke for the reason you say immersion, but the thing i hate is that you don't switch to thermal vision to counter the low visibility that the smoke creates. That's all part of the challenge. But if you enjoy the smoke, keep it! As someone else said, we're just here for the ride. 😃
i kind of like the varied visual effect and biomes lightings. does it weird for wanting a mod that put the argo in to this game? last night, while played a multi mission, i suddenly wished to have the argo upgrades' bonuses...
The Argo is perfect for a Merc Company. Can dock 2 of the smaller dropships like Leppard and my favorite, the Confederate. Both can trade off the 2 aerospace fighters in exchange for an additional 2 mechs.or, compact mechs can be stacked in a bay, meaning that it's possible to bring down a full 12 scouts as long as they are squat.
