I purchased one from Russia. Ordered it Jan 24 and it arrived Feb. 14th. I have used it non stop since then. It does not get Down to the center, so I’ve had to reinforce the base of my felting, but since I suffer from repetitive stress injuries in my hands, wrists and shoulders, it is a godsend. The one I got did not have any instructions, so it took me a bit to figure out how it works. I did get extra replacement parts, which is great. Like you, I get the little flakes. I have only done 3D sculptures, but I can see how flat work would do well with it also. For anyone doing felting for a living, it is well worth the money. It cost me $185 plus shipping, in US dollars, but it is money well spent. I highly recommend it for full-time artists

Something important that I have learned. Spray WD40 oil into the channel where the needle goes in and out. My model (different from your model) has a plastic gasket that will melt from the friction and make the tool useless. The fix is to spray oil into the channel every once in a while.
I’ve bought this machine because of your video, so thank you! 😄 It’s working great, however, I’m really scared about a needle breaking and it flinging into my face with an immense power. I am wearing protective glasses but that doesn’t really stop the needle from shooting into my face. Do you have experience with needles breaking while the machine is running and what does that look like?

I felt wool onto pieces of old 100% wool blankets. Would this tool work for that or would felting into the fabric make the needle jump? What is the material you use to felt into? I’m felting, by hand, into a thick piece of foam. I don’t want to ruin my machine by doing something it’s not suited for. Thanks for the video, it was very informative.
I think wool blanket might be quite tough but if you can felt into it then it should work. You can put whatever needle you want into the machine. Do ask the owner of the shop, I believe they have reopened x
have you had a felting needle break with it? i tend to break needles just as is with hand-done if i dont exit the wool the same direction it went in, so i would think that moving the machine to the side while the needle is stabbing inwards would break it. maybe possibly not due to the needle size?
Great video's love your felt work.....I would definitely order this felting gun but like a few others I'm concerned about taxe charger to the UK. Also a some people have mentioned about tattoo guns do you know if felt needless fit into them?
Hi, I don't know about whether the needles would fit for a tattoo gun, some of these machines are obviously adapted so I would hope the needles do fit but the sellers are adapting them first. This one I purchased is not adapted, it is specially designed for the job. Have you messaged any sellers about the tax, I believe you do have to pay it so it's worth working it our to add it to the purchase price x

Sorry no, each machine is handmade and specific to each seller. This is the only one I tested as they are so expensive. Maybe ask on a Facebook page if anyone else can recommend one they've purchased. It's the durability that you have to check, some aren't very well made so read every review xx

Phillipa, Would this be good to finish the exterior of a project to get a smooth finish? Could I use this while watching tv or would it be loud enough to annoy my partner?
I'm afraid it is definitely too loud and would annoy the other half! Plus, it's tricky to use on an exterior as getting the evenness is tricky. I would definitely prefer using a hand held needle instead. It's great for lines and doing the core though. I know this particular one is not available as she is/was in Ukraine 😔x

oh I have seen this machine around social media quite often recently, and I am interested! but because it's quite some money, I'm still looking... and thinking... thank you for this video! Hi, I think you will have to ask the seller that really. It's got good reviews and it would definitely help you but it does warm up and I don't think my hand wouldn't handle the vibrations for longer than 10 to 15 mins before I would need a break. Useful but I don't use it more than 20% of the time x

That would be amazing to print it yourself, thanks for asking but I'm pretty happy with it. The needle doesn't go as deep as when felting it yourself but that's probably a good thing incase it stresses the needle, hope it goes well x
Interesting, the orange parts look stripy like it's been 3D printed. I use a 3D printer to make templates for 2D felting and I printed myself a multi-needle hand tool, hadn't considered an electric one.
I was looking at this on Etsy and I saw your review. After watching this I am now subscribed :) If I do buy one, I plan on using it for mostly shaping core wool. Did it get better with different needles regarding the hardness of the wool? I want my creations to not have a lot of squish to them.
If I felted with it for quite long then it firmed up the middle but I shaped the item up, felted with a multi tool and then did the surface with this, used a 38 triangular mostly x
Wow ok think i will get one i already use addiquick but always have to snap off the tops of needles to fit them the one here takes full needles excellent £141 thats not so awful if it speeds up the boring process of constant stabbing
@@feltsbyphilippa hi the addiquick which ive had for six yrs ish is not easy to hold if you have small hands as its quite chunky its very effective and does the job but its a proper bone shaker lol 😂 it will certainly loosen up tight finger joints its not too loud its fun to use it doesnt have a needle guard so need to watch fingers
Every needle I've broken has been stuck in the wool and I've had to dig it out so fingers crossed this doesn't happen! Now you've got me thinking about it! Lol x

I purchased one last year from Russia it was primitive to say the least. The part holding the needle was just a thin piece of flexible plastic. Now that was scary. They have remodeled it calling the Bee and it still didn’t come up to this one in sturdinrss and cost.mine was double yours.
@@feltsbyphilippa The main body of the machine is definitely 3D printed - you can tell from the obvious layers. This is not a complicated device and I'm very tempted to design and print one myself. I wouldn't sell it, of course!
Hi Nicola, I only really use it for core work and for detailing such as drawing a feather or face. I don't use it as much as I thought I would be some people really use theirs alot x
This looks pretty nice, but i'm actually a bit taken aback by the price. The Casing is obviously 3D printed, basic screws, the Adapter is offered online for about 20$, bearings are kinda about 10ish and the motor looks similar to miniature motors. I'd be surprised if material cost would go beyond 80$ including running the printer. But i dont mind to be proven otherwise. I do not want to diminish the idea, it is lovely and a perfect piece for people who do big scale stuff or are otherwise impared, for the price i imagined a bit sturdier case. On the other hand, people who just don't have (access to) a 3D printer, this is pretty nice to have. And people are buying and loving it, so the seller is obviously not doing sth wrong. For people who know some stuff or two about modeling and printing, this would be a cool idea to DIY.
Have look on Etsy, they are all fairly similar, this one had the best reviews, many other break and at that price they shouldn't. Luckily this channel helps me pay for and review items but this certainly was the most expensive thing I have purchased 😀 x
A business ought to sell at a decent profit margin in order to be viable. A 50% profit margin- ie, charging twice what the item cost to obtain- is actually normal for a *wholesaler* - who didn't even make the product, but only bought it. For a manufacturer with the expertise and organisation to put this together who must also spend many hours designing and creating the product and producing each one, doing quality control, and considering longevity and customer safety, a 50% profit margin seems extremely reasonable. Of course by now unfortunately this manufacturer's business is also in a war zone.
I have a Janice felting machine with 1 or 6barbs and bernina has a felting tool to add to your machine, they are both quick safe and effective, yours is a bit fiddle and price pint you could have bought a real felting machine, no safety feature on yours, sorry not for me

Hello, As Philipa says, it sounds as though you're doing 2D felting; I've seen some beautiful creations people do; however the machine you have wouldn't be suitable for those of us who do 3D Felting. I've just ordered myself one of these :)
I'm not going crazy am I? Why do most felting machines come from Ukraine? One or two are from China, one from Italy, one from Georgia, and one in America. They take forever to ship America.

Hi. Just wondering what adapter plug you used? Just got mine today but it doesn't seem to get particularly powerful and I think it's the plug adapter.
I just used a normal one I had, contact the seller maybe, I altered the power with the little adapter unit provided where you turn it up and down x

No, I haven't broken any needles with it but I probably haven't used smaller than a 38 triangular just in case x

I just got my orange fly tool with no instructions. Do you need to oil it before use? The needle gets very hot.

I was looking at this on Etsy and I saw your review. After watching this I am now subscribed :) If I do buy one, I plan on using it for mostly shaping core wool. Did it get better with different needles regarding the hardness of the wool? I want my creations to not have a lot of squish to them.
If I felted with it for quite long then it firmed up the middle but I shaped the item up, felted with a multi tool and then did the surface with this, used a 38 triangular mostly x
Wow ok think i will get one i already use addiquick but always have to snap off the tops of needles to fit them the one here takes full needles excellent £141 thats not so awful if it speeds up the boring process of constant stabbing
Yes, it's alot of money but very robust and easy to work with, I really like it, what's the addiquick like?
@@feltsbyphilippa hi the addiquick which ive had for six yrs ish is not easy to hold if you have small hands as its quite chunky its very effective and does the job but its a proper bone shaker lol 😂 it will certainly loosen up tight finger joints its not too loud its fun to use it doesnt have a needle guard so need to watch fingers

Every needle I've broken has been stuck in the wool and I've had to dig it out so fingers crossed this doesn't happen! Now you've got me thinking about it! Lol x

No, I think that's why Etsy shows a cheaper price for US orders x

@@feltsbyphilippa yes I agree, I would expect to have to pay now but wondered how much it was likely to be !! It is really hard to find any useful information online, its all a bit vague until AFTER your bought your parcel and "your courier will contact you to let you know how much" . Its bit late to back out by then!

I purchased one last year from Russia it was primitive to say the least. The part holding the needle was just a thin piece of flexible plastic. Now that was scary. They have remodeled it calling the Bee and it still didn’t come up to this one in sturdinrss and cost.mine was double yours.

I bought the same one exactly with that thin piece of plastic,,,,so scary to use. Looks like an accident waiting to happen and I ve never used it.
I wonder if you could use a tattoo gun. You can get a fairly good one of them for around $60.
I think most electric needle felters are tattoo guns so most definitely x

I think it's a converted tattoo machine, not 100% percent sure so can't confirm x
@@feltsbyphilippa The main body of the machine is definitely 3D printed - you can tell from the obvious layers. This is not a complicated device and I'm very tempted to design and print one myself. I wouldn't sell it, of course!

Hi Nicola, I only really use it for core work and for detailing such as drawing a feather or face. I don't use it as much as I thought I would be some people really use theirs alot x

This looks pretty nice, but i'm actually a bit taken aback by the price. The Casing is obviously 3D printed, basic screws, the Adapter is offered online for about 20$, bearings are kinda about 10ish and the motor looks similar to miniature motors. I'd be surprised if material cost would go beyond 80$ including running the printer. But i dont mind to be proven otherwise. I do not want to diminish the idea, it is lovely and a perfect piece for people who do big scale stuff or are otherwise impared, for the price i imagined a bit sturdier case. On the other hand, people who just don't have (access to) a 3D printer, this is pretty nice to have. And people are buying and loving it, so the seller is obviously not doing sth wrong. For people who know some stuff or two about modeling and printing, this would be a cool idea to DIY.
Have look on Etsy, they are all fairly similar, this one had the best reviews, many other break and at that price they shouldn't. Luckily this channel helps me pay for and review items but this certainly was the most expensive thing I have purchased 😀 x
A business ought to sell at a decent profit margin in order to be viable. A 50% profit margin- ie, charging twice what the item cost to obtain- is actually normal for a *wholesaler* - who didn't even make the product, but only bought it. For a manufacturer with the expertise and organisation to put this together who must also spend many hours designing and creating the product and producing each one, doing quality control, and considering longevity and customer safety, a 50% profit margin seems extremely reasonable. Of course by now unfortunately this manufacturer's business is also in a war zone.

I have a Janice felting machine with 1 or 6barbs and bernina has a felting tool to add to your machine, they are both quick safe and effective, yours is a bit fiddle and price pint you could have bought a real felting machine, no safety feature on yours, sorry not for me
I have never seen a real felting machine, I shall look up the name you mentioned now and check it out...just looked now, do you mean a Janome, they don't work with 3d felting only 2d or is there a special one I can't find, I am intrigued, can you let me know, thanks x
Hello, As Philipa says, it sounds as though you're doing 2D felting; I've seen some beautiful creations people do; however the machine you have wouldn't be suitable for those of us who do 3D Felting. I've just ordered myself one of these :)
I'm not going crazy am I? Why do most felting machines come from Ukraine? One or two are from China, one from Italy, one from Georgia, and one in America. They take forever to ship America.
I think the Addipen is from the US so there is a range, I haven't looked recently so not sure why x
