I have the punch tool with a blue top and you can open and replace the needles, I also have the blue tool and yes it does work better with two needles and you can change them. The punch tool is one of my favourite tools for the kind of needle felting I do.
I have seen some artists using a set of long pointy tweesers to hold their work in place while using multi tools to save hands.😘

Hi Helena, that's good about being able to replace the needles, I'm glad as it makes sense. Your fingers definitely feel more vulnerable with the multi tools and the tweezers sound perfect as you can hold it and turn it, great tip, thanks so much, hope you are well, thanks for watching xx

Hi! Thanks for watching, so, needles can definitely last years, to be honest I am more likely to break a needle rather than replace it. Sometimes, very rarely, I have a needle that feels like it isn't working as well so I simply try a new one of the same gauge and see if it works better, good quality needles last a long time, I hope that helps xx

  • @doriskarloff964

I use the pink clover pen with 3 triangular needles (size 40) for quick/bulk felting, a single spiral (size 40) in a nice wooden holder for smoothing/detailing, and a gold 'crown' for fine detailing (but I tend to stick with the spiral, tbh). I have a 4-needle, protector on, tool which is rubbish for 3d but works OK for 2D. Of course you don't need a holder for a single needle, but it makes it a little more comfortable. I use 'core' wool and polyester wadding for the bulk of a project, and just wrap with coloured roving. I felt onto a brush too, which doesn't seem popular, but I love it because I can clean off any wool residue and it doesn't get punch holes and divots. I have broken a needle in the pink clover pen, but it's straightforward (a little stiff is all) to open it up and slot in a replacement needle (from a different supplier).

The three-needle blue can be opened, you have to do a lot of force, but it opens, do not give up! :D
Anyway it is very bad compared to the Clover tool. Your try using the blue one only with two needles, works better in my opinion.

Hello Filippa! Thanks again! I just recently got my tools and had the same noise issue with the punch tool. I also thought there was too much resistance so wanted to get a few needles out. Taking it apart I found out that the transparant protection piece can be reversed and put back. It looses it’s function, but also the noise 🥳🥳🥳. I also had to leave the spring/ suspension (what’s the english name?) out, but…. SO happy with my silent multI needle tool LOL. I'm thinking of buying the pink clover one, but I'm a bit apprehensive; reviews online have indicated people have problems with their needles breaking and also not being able to replace the clover needles with those of a different brand. Cmiiw, the three-needle Clover pen only comes in pink, it is made in Japan and it is excellent! The blue pen is definitely not from Clover.
Btw, have you tried using the pink Clover pen with the needles from Heidi Feathers? I have some needles purchased from China, and they don’t fit. The top bended “hook” of these needles are a bit too long to fit inside the pink Clover pen.
And thank you for this video!

That's good to know the pink is the safe one, the blue was such a disappointment. I haven't changed the needles yet but the tops look similar to heidifeathers so hopefully should work fine, thanks for watching and commenting 🙂 x

@@feltsbyphilippa My Heidi Feathers felting needles finally arrived. Yes, they fit perfectly inside my Clover three needles holder. I am very glad! Thank you for introducing this brand to us. Their price and their worldwide shipping cost are very reasonable.

K gave up on using the multi needle tool since they wouldn't penetrate the wool. Good to know it's just the wrong needles!

agree, the blue one is rubish, not only the needles it has are terrible and wont go in the wool, they also won't keep separated from each other, it's a mess, what a waste of money
