Sold my 16 for a boosted Air. As a bedroom music producer, it performs as well as the 16, if not better. And it is DEAD SILENT. And got some extra cash with the sale. What is there not to love about this M1??? Best deal ever.

Been in Los Angeles for 16 years and i can recall many times sweating in a room trying to work due to the computer. Lol now we're gonna have the opposite problem of it getting too cold
I've had a MBP 16 since the day it came out in November 2019 and it has been an amazing laptop. With that being said, if the 13" M1 MBP was out at the same time, I almost certainly would've gotten that instead. The M1 is unreal in the performance category and is mostly unable to beaten in anything other than the GPU department (the discrete card in the 16 is obviously better for high end graphics processing). I'm really hoping I can get a new 14 or 16 M2 MacBook Pro when those finally drop someday, as that will be the dream.
I had an old Air and also a 16” MBP. The air bit the dust and I’ll be traveling again, so I wanted something smaller for more portability. This video confirmed for my use, selling the MBP and getting the M1 air is overall better for me and I won’t even notice the performance difference when docked at home. Even better, the cost of the swap is near zero because my “old” $2800 MBP is being bought by a friend for $2000. So a completely maxed out Air is an even trade.
I LOVE my M1 MBA (16 GB). The only time it has gotten hot is when Chrome spun out of control. It wouldn't shut down, and the bottom got REALLY hot. After force quitting Chrome, it was cool again by the time I uninstalled Chrome. For Chromium needs, I'm running Microsoft Edge BETA (for work for a couple of extensions). Maybe Chrome has fixed whatever went wrong, but I don't trust Google at the moment. Maybe I'll try again later. For anything not work, I'm loving Safari and my downright cold MBA. It's, dare I say it, phenomenal!

I have always gotten the larger laptop for a large screen. Now using the m1 13” pro I like the weight and portability. I use an external monitor for work, but the added portability makes it easier to do casual tasks. For travel I am debating a portable 17” monitor rather than the bigger laptop.

Get the M1 MacBook Air. Try getting 16GB of RAM model as it will last longer. If you have enough money, you should buy the 512GB SSD 16GB RAM model for the extra storage. If not, that’s fine as the 256GB SSD 16GB RAM model is probably enough for your needs I guess.
Yeah i was gonna say even 8 working hours i don't think Is possible. The new m1s are how we basically charge phones. You could legit only charge it overnight and never need to plug it in during any waking hour- that's so insane to me and a huge reason i chose the 13" over the 16" when Apple offered me a replacement for my 15"

The next to compare to the M1 Macbook Air would be the new Galaxy Book Pro 360. I doubt it is better, but it may be competitive. As well as having the next level portability of the 5G modem in it. Macbooks NEED the 5G/LTE modems for portability, especially to compare with the iPad Pro 12.9.

Would a 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD M1 MBA be enough, or should I go for the 16 GB ? Does anyone have any good video where such topics are targeted? Because, processing 4K videos and images is very heavy (the most used examples in these videos), but web development (with some mobile app development here and there), is not that much heavy after all, so I can't get a real picture here..

i just purchased the m1 macbook air awhile ago and i dare to say majority of the apps run smoothly - even the ones running on rosetta. if your choice lies between a high tier intel macbook like the 16" one, id say go for it. but for the same class, go for the m1. think of it as an investation
my 2019 16 inch pro overheated and stopped functioning after just over a year...looking at the M1 Air as a possible replacement after its fixed which is insane! Im personally not impressed with the pro for the pricetag and i worry about future failure based on the number of people experiencing issues. To this day, my 2013 macbook air is zippier at single core processes than the 2019 pro 16 inch is at its best. Kind of on the fence with staying with apple. Watched my brothers 2015 pro fail in less a year as well. Never thought Id be on the fence with apple, but personally I think they knew that was the last intel macbook to come and really skimped. Some interesting design flaws for something that costs a couple $k
I own both MBP 16 and M1 MBP 13. Thermal design on 16 inch is great only with disabled turboboost. Still 13 inch is too small for work and photo editing, real world speed of 16 inch is more than enought for almost anyone.... Which I prefer ? 16 inch any day (even for that price)

In med school, and while doing all these live online classes, my 2016 MBP would get hot like never before and suddenly got the black screen of death. It hasn’t come back. I want to get the MBAir, but I wonder if I should go for 8GB or 16GB
What software do you use? Anything processor or RAM intensive (Video editing, 3D modeling, etc)? If not, and you’re just browsing the internet, watching online classes, and writing, the 8Gb Air should be more than good enough.

Gary! Hi, love your channel! Question. I bought the 2019 16GB MacBook Pro upgraded. In March I bought the MacBook Air upgraded (neither are the base model). I love them both. I am trying to decide if I I want to buy the new m1 iMac. I am looking for comparisons with the new iMac against the 16 inch MacBook Pro. I use it for Photo and video editing mostly. Do you have a video on this or can you give me some insight? Is it worth the money to invest in the iMac or just keep using the MacBook Pro? The Air is my work computer ( which I also do a lot of video editing on). I hope this made sense. I can't seem to find any good reviews that compare them. This was the best one I've found on the 16inch vs the m1 chip!
I have a question, I currently have a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2018. My screen is broken and needs a new battery (its out of warranty and I need to upgrade anyway). I don't want to go to a smaller screen, so either I buy the current 16 inch pro or I wait for the new one and hope its better and comes soon and I continue to use my desktop monitor? You didn’t mention compatibility issues, if you need to work with the new m1 you will not find the same ease in using windows applications!! It’s too early to buy it in my opinion, I’m telling you, I wanted to buy it but I need ARM and OpenGL to support my needs.. Certain apps will not be available on the new M1 chip and that’s a bummer. Props for the new improvements but I will go with intel macOS for now.

amazing video, i am a designer, i am looking for the better quality and better performance laptop for my work loads, i use photoshop, illustrator and aftereffects, what can you suggest M1 Air, or Pro 16 with dedicated graphic card? however, M1 cannot be upgraded thats one of the problem :)
Agreed but at the end of the day it's not a fashion accessory. I had an option of a free replacement 16" or new 13" for my 3 year old 15". I chose function over form. You're right though the 16 looks really nice with those bezels... if i could wait id do so for the 14"

I sent my configured 16” to Apple for Trade-in. I’m going to try not to buy a laptop again until Apple’s whole M line is out.

What do you think about the Intel MacBook Pro 13(2020）compared to the M1 MacBook air?
The m1 is more fast than a intel i9. So it’s obviously the m1 is the best of the world and more fast in the world right now.

Air I think for you. Rendering will be slightly faster on an M1 Pro but you will not be doing that more then a couple times a week.

M1 speed is race car fast but like a race car it’s limited to the race track not like the Intel MBP it’s a SUV where it can go to any roads.

Because, processing 4K videos and images is very heavy (the most used examples in these videos), but web development (with some mobile app development here and there), is not that much heavy after all, so I can't get a real picture here..

i just purchased the m1 macbook air awhile ago and i dare to say majority of the apps run smoothly - even the ones running on rosetta. if your choice lies between a high tier intel macbook like the 16" one, id say go for it. but for the same class, go for the m1. think of it as an investation

Yes I do, I have an ASUS G17 with the Ryzen 9 and RTX 3000 currently on preorder and hopefully it will ship soon.

my 2019 16 inch pro overheated and stopped functioning after just over a year...looking at the M1 Air as a possible replacement after its fixed which is insane! Im personally not impressed with the pro for the pricetag and i worry about future failure based on the number of people experiencing issues. To this day, my 2013 macbook air is zippier at single core processes than the 2019 pro 16 inch is at its best. Kind of on the fence with staying with apple. Watched my brothers 2015 pro fail in less a year as well. Never thought Id be on the fence with apple, but personally I think they knew that was the last intel macbook to come and really skimped. Some interesting design flaws for something that costs a couple $k
I own both MBP 16 and M1 MBP 13. Thermal design on 16 inch is great only with disabled turboboost. Still 13 inch is too small for work and photo editing, real world speed of 16 inch is more than enought for almost anyone.... Which I prefer ? 16 inch any day (even for that price)

In med school, and while doing all these live online classes, my 2016 MBP would get hot like never before and suddenly got the black screen of death. It hasn’t come back. I want to get the MBAir, but I wonder if I should go for 8GB or 16GB
What software do you use? Anything processor or RAM intensive (Video editing, 3D modeling, etc)? If not, and you’re just browsing the internet, watching online classes, and writing, the 8Gb Air should be more than good enough.

I will be really grateful if you can PLEASE advise, what to pick my only priority is long battery life and NO NO & NO heating issues whatsoever in my laptop wheather, in table or in bed or anywhere else. All I do is competitive programming on few websites. AND, I HATE HEATING ISSUE. Now recommend AIR vs PRO?

Gary! Hi, love your channel! Question. I bought the 2019 16GB MacBook Pro upgraded. In March I bought the MacBook Air upgraded (neither are the base model). I love them both. I am trying to decide if I I want to buy the new m1 iMac. I am looking for comparisons with the new iMac against the 16 inch MacBook Pro. I use it for Photo and video editing mostly. Do you have a video on this or can you give me some insight? Is it worth the money to invest in the iMac or just keep using the MacBook Pro? The Air is my work computer ( which I also do a lot of video editing on). I hope this made sense. I can't seem to find any good reviews that compare them. This was the best one I've found on the 16inch vs the m1 chip!
I have a question, I currently have a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2018. My screen is broken and needs a new battery (its out of warranty and I need to upgrade anyway). I don't want to go to a smaller screen, so either I buy the current 16 inch pro or I wait for the new one and hope its better and comes soon and I continue to use my desktop monitor? You didn’t mention compatibility issues, if you need to work with the new m1 you will not find the same ease in using windows applications!! It’s too early to buy it in my opinion, I’m telling you, I wanted to buy it but I need ARM and OpenGL to support my needs.. Certain apps will not be available on the new M1 chip and that’s a bummer.
Props for the new improvements but I will go with intel macOS for now.

No coincidence , is just Apple pushing the M aggressively. There’s plenty of idiots out there selling their newly purchased 16” MacBook and taking massive loss (I just bought a 3.5k euros machine for 2.3k euros with exactly 1 charge cycle). Apple it’s doing it and it works lol

amazing video, i am a designer, i am looking for the better quality and better performance laptop for my work loads, i use photoshop, illustrator and aftereffects, what can you suggest M1 Air, or Pro 16 with dedicated graphic card? however, M1 cannot be upgraded thats one of the problem :)

Agreed but at the end of the day it's not a fashion accessory. I had an option of a free replacement 16" or new 13" for my 3 year old 15". I chose function over form. You're right though the 16 looks really nice with those bezels... if i could wait id do so for the 14"
