I just gave my oldest daughter my M1 Air and got my self an M3 Pro Macbook Pro. She loves it and can't believe how fast it is compared to the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 she had before. And of course one of the first things she said was, " I love this trackpad" lol. Don't we all. No matter which OS you prefer, there's no denying that Apple makes really well built machines, for the most part.
@doroma4099 lol I didn't ignore them. They're just HUGE and the battery life stinks for the most part. The 14 inch MacBook Pro is just right for me. Plus, aside from a small handful of Windows laptops, the trackpads still suck. MacBooks also utilize as much power on battery unplugged, than they do plugged in. The good thing is there's plenty of options out there for everyone to find what works best for their use case.
@doroma4099 The problem with those, or any windows laptops is that all of them underclock/volt the CPU/GPUs when on battery power whereas Macbooks have access to full power on battery.

Hello, you are someone who has made a transition from a 2019 to mba, i have few question and perhaps you would be able to help me out, i am currently using a 2012 mbp, and i do 1080 edit and occasional 4k edits about less than a minute duration just a passion, with no issue what so ever, however recently i used one of my cousins 16 inches 2019 i9 i was baffled by the size of the screen, especially for someone who was using 13 inches 2012 for atleast 5 years while searching macbook in the second hand markets i can see 2019 16 inches and macbook air 13 m1 8gb variant, unfortunately there is no 16gb m1 available, and both are similarly priced cant decide should i go for a the large screen a large trackpad or should i go for the macbook air since my kind of workflow is not that daunting, would it actually stress the cpu that much since 2012 only kicked their cpu when i was exporting the project i usually add some musics transitions color correct and add overlays, nit much and the 2012 handles well running on sonoma open core, 16gb ram and 256 gb ssd
I'm watching this video on my M1 Air. Your videos about it are the reason I chose this computer. I purchased this 3 years ago, and it still works perfectly for me. I only used this to write, watch videos, read books, browse, and annotate videos and photos. I also used this for video editing at times. And yes the battery is still superb. My cat dropped this twice, and I'm glad it's still okay:-) I think I will only replaced this when it's already dead.
I got the M1 Macbook Air and I love it. I have already traveled with it. I haven't charged it since last week and this still has battery left. 8 days on a single charge so far. I also havent even turned it off, just closed the lid. I am pretty impressed with it. And I love the color and travel friendliness.
I still remember your M1 Macbook Air reviews, i was so sold and bough my gold rose m1. I sold it last year and i have a m3 pro, but i still miss my old and LIGHT computer. Thanks for sharing this. Greetings from México.
Oh yeah! If my 2015 pro didn’t get damaged in an accident years ago, I’d definitely still be using it! I recently picked this MBA up at Walmart and it’s such an upgrade!
@@cartorius It doesn't. All OS swap. I have yet to see an m1 8gb ram fail due to ssd dying. This has been an overblown issue that was due to a bug. Aren't we over it yet?
I am still using an M1 MacBook Pro. I had a M2 MacBook Air and M3 iMac and did not notice any diff with the other two newer devices so I sold them and kept the M1.
Totally agree with you. I bought my son the M1 MacBook a couple of years ago. Still coping with so many tasks and working brilliantly. Same can be said for my M1 Macbook Pro, And, I do like the touchscreen keyboard bar !
I see what you're saying, but. The refurb M2 is now on sale for only $100 CND more than the refurb M1. MagSafe connector, better display, webcam, faster processor, longer support. I think that is well worth the extra cost.
In the US the M1 air is $649 USD brand new at multiple retailers, and sold by Apple through Walmart, new, for $699 USD. It's a whole different equation.
I have posted something similar each time you have done a MBA M1 video: I have 6 M1 series Macs, 3x M1 MacMinis, 1x M1 iPad Pro, 1x maxed out M1 Max 16" MBP, and my favorite is my maxed out M1 MBA. I travel extensively for work (consulting), and the M1 MBA is the only laptop I will take with me. When you only use online Apps, and the MS 365 suite, there is no real need for an M2 or M3. I think I will replace my M1 MBA when the 15" M6 or M7 MBA version comes out.
I’m still using my 2013 MacBook Pro. 11 years later and she’s still going fairly strong. Only now I’m having to charge more often and she’s starting to slow down so I figured I’d purchase this MacBook Air to replace her. I’ve heard great things about it and the price is awesome. A deal I couldn’t pass up! The only thing I don’t like is the lack of ports but an adapter can handle that.
😂 same! I have the MacBook Pro from 2011!!! That thing is still running! But it’s slower and does need to be charged more often. so I just bought this on Best Buy for $650!
Been looking for a laptop for a while, and in my research, your videos on the M1 helped me decide to get one. It lives up to the hype! Wanted to thank you for the advice, quality content, and wanted to ask, what microphone are you using in this video? Always love learning about the tech others use. Thanks!
Going on 3 years with my MacBook Air M1 with 512gb. I use it everyday!! and the battery is still going well. Battery can last 2 days with out charging. (unless you use it 24/7) but for TH-cam and video editing is great! I suggest you buy an upgraded M1 than the new models. M3 can wait couple more years.
I'm getting old, so I wanted a 15" screen. Traded in my M1 Air that I bought refurbished for an on-sale 15" M2 at Best Buy. It cost me $330 to own and use the M1 for three years. What a great device!

Everyone has a head to reason! MBA M1 16/512GB is the only one so far that's worth buying even in 2024! I bought this machine for my daughter in 2020 and it still rocks. If you'd like something powerful for video editing just build your own PC and you'll see that macbook pro is no match! I've been doing video editing for more than 20 years besides all top-notch plugins are available only for PC!!
I still have it and I love it - even with the base 256 GB storage and 8GB RAM I am good. I do a lot of work (excel, citrix...), even play some games. What I miss is a better display and more ports + magsafe (I had a chance to try newer MBA haha)
I purchased one 2 weeks ago for €250, that's around $280 us. It had some small waterspots on the screen and needed a battery replacement, my total cost ended up being €330 (around 360 usd) for a fully working and charging m1 air! It's such a sweet lightweight machine. I recommend it to anyone to look for one on the cheap, in the right price class there is nothing that can beat it!
Bought my M1 Air when it released and I’ve yet to upgrade this laptop because this machine just works and does EVERYTHING I need it to do. (I’m a photographer & videographer)
My M1 Air works flawlessly for me. No FOMO after watching your video! The only thing I did upgrade was the SSD to 512, but otherwise the 8 GB memory is fine.
I literally just purchased this MacBook last night without even watching this video and I fall under two of your categories stories: budget and basic functionality. I have had iPod, iPhones (PLURAL), and iPads. But never had a MacBook. I just decided to buy one because I’ve been applying online to new employment opportunities and doing all that applying on my iPhone 15 Plus is just not cutting it. My wife has a MacBook Air M2 from 2022 for work and I’ve been holding it hostage using it for my online job hunting that I finally decided to buy my own. Can’t wait to have it delivered to finally have the whole ecosystem consisting of iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and now MacBook 💻😎 Purchased it from Walmart 8GB ram, 256SSD, Space Gray, for $699 😮

I just bought mine. Was a bit nervous about the 8GB of RAM which sits at 54% while doing nothing, but, haven’t seen it go higher than 80% nor have I noticed any lag in MacOS. Love the high res screen and how quick it performs. Definitely the best everyday laptop.
I've owned mine for almost 4 years now. Bought the base config the first time I saw a sale drop the price from $999 to $899. I have never owned a laptop this long without even an itch over that time to get something new. Still going strong, battery still rocks, and I can even use it to get some video and podcast edits done for work along with pretty heavy PPT and Excel work when I don't have my work laptop with me when I'm on vacation or away from my home office. Fantastic value and I agree that you will not find a better bang for your buck laptop. With all that said, I am finally looking to upgrade. I use the M2 for work and I just like that form factor more along with the much better webcam. Figure I might as well bump up the RAM and storage while I'm at it so probably just going to get a nice deal through the apple refurbished store. Still, M1 Macbook Air will go down in the books for sure!
How long can you use yours on a single charge doing “normal” daily tasks like web browsing, email, watching videos? Wondering how long battery lasts in actual use vs the claims on the M3 base model getting what is purported to be 4+ hours more usage on a charge.
@@billb8262 I'm not exactly sure, but I can say that I have used this thing heavily since I purchased it and am down to 86% battery health, but I still easily get through a day of use with plenty of battery to spare.

I am a pro photographer/videographer and purchased the M1 MacBook Air with 512 Go of storage and 8 GB of Ram in 2022. It is an amazing computer that has never let me down or slowed my editing process. We also use the same chip M1 iMac, but with 2 To of storage and 16 GB of RAM. Very fast as well.
Mine is three years old.. all I do is TH-cam and other streaming sites. Up until January this year had zero issues. Ive had a couple kernel panics and system freezes but he wasn't lying.. you gotta be conscious of open video tabs. I think that's what was doing it.
I bought the M1 Mac Mini back then and I am very happy with it. Its absolutely silent and yet so powerful. I dont game on it though, but tbf I barely these days anyway. So, its totally worth it.
Bought my M1 MacBook Air in Nov 2020, 8/8 core, 512 GB and 8 GB RAM. Only regret was not waiting for a 16 GB RAM version. When I have over 100 tabs open, I get the warning to close tabs, never crashes! Repeat... Never Crashes! May 2024, soMe keys are failing... now I either need to dock with attached keyboard, or get the keyboard replaced @$300-$400 estimated. The $699 Walmart base is an option, but.... Still LOVE this thing!
This M1 MacBook Air never gets old. Even after 4 years, the chassis design, wedge-shape feel, and loading speed are still relevant. I really hope, Apple will still support its OS for the next two or even three years.
Im currently watching this on my m1 provided by my job which I'm about to terminate contract with. The saddest thing about leaving this gig will be losing this laptop after 2 years lol. The newer Macbooks are way out of my price range and I'm thorougly satistied with this little guy, so I'm considering getting one for myself to use daily. Thanks for the vid :)
The M1 MacBook Air should still be sold on Apple’s store … not just Walmart. Either way it’s a brilliant deal. We have one in our household and it’s 4 years old. We’d buy another new one today if we needed it.
For those that complain the 16in is too heavy, buying the little M1 Air makes a great sidekick on those trips where you won’t need that much processing power for the day.
Still loving my M1 MacBook Air (2020). Still at 90% battery life. It's just a great all around laptop! I was actually looking at M3's but, I really just can't do it right now. I'll give this MacBook Air a few more years of use. AND Apple messed when they changed the design of the MacBook Air, they need to keep that tapered design, that is what makes the MacBook Air!
I watched this video this morning while walking in the park, and tonight I am watching this video again to say "thank you" for putting this video out. It really helped me with my purchase decision, and I am loving it!
Yep, definitely spot on. I took an early leap buying the Air M1 and now 3 years and some on I just cannot justify buying a new one, from speed to battery, its really all i need even now. And I've got the baseline 8gb version. Still love its format, the wedge is unbeatable.
I think the larger portion of the customers do not create videos (unlike what most TH-camrs want to believe) & most people just care about productivity apps like MS office or browsing or something of that sort! For this kind of work, M1 Air will outperform all your expectations! Plus, with incredible battery! Great video!
I have to give it to Apple. The Silicon chips and the M1 was a game changer. I have owned windows based cpu in the past and currently have a M1 MacBook Pro base, that I got refurbished from Apple. It was basically New and it has been a phenomenal laptop. Battery life is amazing, performance is more than adequate for school, or any Basic or even moderate task. This was 100% worth the money and is as fast as the day I got it pretty much. I am confident, that I could comfortable use this laptop another 3-4 years without slowing down. Zero reasons for the average consumer to need anything more honestly.
I’ve had the M1 MacBook Air for over 2 years now! Thinking of getting the M3 MacBook Air for Christmas, but the M1 MacBook Air does a decent enough job at every task I do on it!
Just got my M1 MBA last month, a great deal, and still rocking my favorite Air design - lack of ports is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. I think we've entered a stage where "all new tech from 3-4 years ago" is the perfect choice - they no longer feel slow or under-powered, and the price is pretty reasonable.
I had been looking at the M1 for a few months now and the M3’s arrival brought the deal to get it. $650 and $120 for 3 years of AppleCare feels like a steal.
Bought it when it first came out for the wife… she didn’t like it so gave it the daughter and she loves it, and whenever i need to use it for some light editing work, its amazing how well it holds up.. and now with the price decrease at Walmart its amazing value, especially for students etc
Had mine for a year. I love it. Quality and dependability. I’m an Apple fan but have way more familiarity with windows for PC. That’s my only issue. Great screen, compact , light and silent
I am in the market for a laptop as a secondary device because im stilk doing the transition from windows, and this video opened my mind, i was so into M3 that i have not considered this M1 macbook air. Will be my go to option. Thanks for the video.
Shout out for the wedge shape. It is WAY MORE comfortable to type than the thicker, new bases. Those thicker bases with their sharp edges dig into my wrists. No fun!
Well, the good news is, I just bought this computer! I had seen the Walmart price but thought it was for a different, older model and ended up doing a flyby apple store visit 15 minutes before they closed. This was very reassuring though because the purchase was a bit unexpected because I needed a PORTABLE desktop processor for school and had thought I could get by on my mac desktop and ipad pro. This was reassuring that I have everything I need and that it will last.
Brought my MacBook Brand new, from a student;who never even opened it! £500. Still amazing. I got a external display with touch, that also makes it 4K. Love the thing. Feels a day old 💯
It’s not the first MacBook to have no fan, the first one was the 12 inch MacBook. But this definitely will be my next device when I’m due to upgrade from that beauty
I bought the m1 air in 2022 to have something that had amazing battery, was light and had the power. I don't use it as my main computer as I have a Desktop and Rog ally, but as someone whos only had windows/linux based PCs the m1 air is an amazing piece of technology that will have a place for years to come. Hopefully Apple continues to support m1 based machines for a few more years to get more life out of this thing.
my m1 air 16gb is still amazing to me , flys through anything I wanna do, and the 16gb has never used swap memory for my usage case, its all the power needed for a home laptop for consumers and light editing . the battery life is outstanding and screen is crisp. the only thing I would prefer is a 120hz screen, but im not going to get rid of my m1 air just for that reason alone .
Had my base Air for about three years. It is still fantastic. I plan to get a Mac mini Pro at some point for anything demanding, but my laptop will stay the M1 Air for quite some time.

Tbh I just watched this video because I wanted to hear some well-deserved praise for this machine. I've been using my M1 Macbook Air for over 3 years and it is still just as amazing as when I first got it. I legitimately think that it is the perfect laptop, considering how it is completely silent, has amazing battery life, and has all the power I need. I probably won't upgrade it for another 5 years or so unless I absolutely need more ram or storage.
My M1 Air (16gb RAM/256 SSD) is still going strong 3 years on. It's snappy and responsive and copes with occasional video editing with ease. There's over 90% battery capacity left - despite daily usesge. Simply put, it's the best laptop I've ever had. Having said that, I'm thinking about upgrading to the M3 Air, while mine is in good condition.

The M1 Macbook was my first ever macbook and two years later, it still does everything i want it to do. Because I'm someone who needs to wake/sleep laptops every few minutes to every hour from multitasking, Macbooks are easier to get back to work with than windows laptops where their fingerprint readers don't work 75% of the time, and it lasts all day for me even 2 hours later. I don't think I'll need an upgrade for quite some time!
Have had mine for 3-years. Yes, fantastic laptop. Just discontinued this year, so we'll see support and updates from apple at least through 2029. I'm keeping mine and just added a M3 15" Air with 16GB. My m1 13" is repurposed to being my vacationing laptop and will add family profiles since I no longer will need all its space
It is still ongoing. Apple has kept making it for at least another year but will only sell it at third-party resellers, not on the Apple Store. I have seen a flash sale at $550, so it is a bargain still. It will discontinue next year when the new Macbook 11 (12) arrives as the base Macbook.

While I think the M1 Air is a fantastic device, I don't know if I'd tell folks looking to upgrade to get a 4 year old model. Any MacBook Air built before 2018 can't get Sonoma and in the next two years, the 2020 MB Air will be on the bubble to not get the latest OS upgrades. Certainly if someone doesn't care about getting the latest OS they will be fine but eventually they will have to contend with some apps not getting the latest updates (like Logic). Something to consider to those watching the video. I'm a huge fan of refurbs and not buying the latest models to save money as long as people understand how OS updates don't last forever even if the laptop hardware can last 10 years.

Wow in my country a new M1 8gb costs $960. Crazy how much difference there is
I still love my M1 MBA that I’ve been having for two years! It’s a lovely machine that continues to meet my needs.
I had my macbook air m1 since it came out and it still works 100%, and battery life still works all day with a single charge 🙌
Perfect timing for this video since the M1 Air massive price drop. Thanks Gary
Just bought the M1 air today from Walmart for $650, so excited to get it after the reviews I’ve watched including this one!
Was it a 8gb ram 15 inch? I don’t see Best Buy having current deals
@@Raytheprodigy21Yes. I got it in January, just before they announced the M3 Airs. The selling price was $1,049.
Best Buy seems to offer a few $ more on the trade-ins.

@@Raytheprodigy21 they go on an off every couple days. The price as been $999 for a couple months and as low as $875 for open box. The 16GB 1TB is $1499 depending on the day.
Does support video and editing with the 8gb ram? Im considering one of these MacBooks but i need to be sure it supports Capture One without freezing 😂
@@EdgarGonzalez-uw4ug yep it sure does! It’s yet to let me down. I even edit 4K at times and it’s yet to struggle 😏
My M1 Air works flawlessly for me. No FOMO after watching your video! The only thing I did upgrade was the SSD to 512, but otherwise the 8 GB memory is fine.
Bought one last year, great vfm, use it for video editing and it is plenty fast enough for me…love my M1 iPad Air too.
how is it working now?
I got my M1 air because of your initial video in 2023, and I use it for all the basics and podcast production, and it’s still amazing!!!!
I just received mine from Walmart! The Apple circle is now complete!!
Can’t wait to have it delivered to finally have the whole ecosystem consisting of iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and now MacBook 💻😎
Purchased it from Walmart 8GB ram, 256SSD, Space Gray, for $699 😮

Bought MacBook M1 air today for 800$ in India. I am already in love with this elegant beauty and beast ❤
I just bought mine. Was a bit nervous about the 8GB of RAM which sits at 54% while doing nothing, but, haven’t seen it go higher than 80% nor have I noticed any lag in MacOS. Love the high res screen and how quick it performs. Definitely the best everyday laptop.
Can I do full hd or 2k multi layer editing easily as an student should I buy it?
My M1 Air 2020 runs like a champ.
Bought M1 yesterday, after watching your video
where did you buy it? and was it new or refurbished?

How do you usually charge it? Always to 100%?
So, its totally worth it.
bought my macbook air m1 a month ago, i dont regret buying it at all...
Got mine delivered last evening.. looking forward to my first ever mac
I have this M1 Mac Air w/16GB Memory and 500 GB Drive and 3 years later I still love it! Best laptop I have EVER OWNED. Amazing product.
Just ordered mines today can’t wait
Any recommendations where I can order it in an affordable price? 😊

Just bought the basic model 8/256 for uni, so excited to test it!
Only thing swaying me towards the m3 or even the m2 over this one is the software support.
Bought a M1 Air with 1TB for my wife a couple years ago and I don’t expect to have to replace it for many years.
Bought it when it first came out for the wife… she didn’t like it so gave it the daughter and she loves it, and whenever i need to use it for some light editing work, its amazing how well it holds up.. and now with the price decrease at Walmart its amazing value, especially for students etc
how about the updates? will it last for many years?
Had mine for a year. I love it. Quality and dependability. I’m an Apple fan but have way more familiarity with windows for PC. That’s my only issue. Great screen, compact , light and silent
About 3 weeks ago, I got one new in the box from Walmart for $650.Much quicker than the 2015 MacBook Pro 16 GB that I was using. Very nice deal.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2017 Macbook this year and have been trying to decide which one I should by so I find this video at the perfect time.
I already have one. One big reason to get it is it emulates most switch games so you can try them before you buy them.
Would this be a good laptop for a first year IT student?

@@anupammahato1 If I had the choice between a 16 inch 2019 or a MacBook Air M1, I would choose the M1. It is far more future proof, and actually feels faster most of the time. Also, it doesn’t have screamy fans :-)
Got mine a few weeks ago refurbished with a few tiny nicks for about $640 on amazon. Best purchasing decision of my life
8 or 16gb? Still like it?
i just bought mine 2 weeks ago . im loving it.. this is my first personal laptop ever! i have pc ( windows ) i have laptop issued by our office ( windows) but u know thats very limited totally for work only. i love my macbook ive been dreaming it for years... i have an ipad 10th gen in pink, and iphone 14prmx.. my inner child is very happy.
M1 MBA is soo comfortable to type on... Looking forward to your thoughts on the new Dell XPS 16/14 laptops!
How many more years of support?
Bought my 512GB M1 in 2022 and I still love it!
I'm still using a mid 2015 MBP.
Keen to get this. Been waiting for the price to come down
It's a huge step up. try and snag one with 16 gigs of ram tho. if you can. makes a huge difference.

ive been waiting also as used m1 airs are at $400-600 usd. 2015 mbp gang here im typing this comment on one! Love this thing its like a tank and when I lean over to see the glowing apple logo just makes me smile!
I have the 8 gig ram model. If I had gotten the 16 gig model, I could probably use this laptop for several more years at this point. I’ll probably still use it for a year or two, if not longer. I’m in law school, and it just works so well!
