When I was in school a million years ago, we learned to use "available light," which according to our professor was any light that was available, on scene or in his trunk. He also preached, "You cannot create light if you cannot first see light." Man, you see light better than most. You speak humbly, but your work shows your true mastery. Keep doin what you're doin.

I'm from Brazil, sorry if the English is not correct, I translated using Google Translate.
Anyway, you are very good at teaching and passing your eyes on the footage, many things I see on your channel, are things that took me a LONG time to learn and you manage to make everything very clear and simplified.
Congratulations on the message about not getting lost in the pursuit of perfection.

Damn I had deja Vu for the intro video. A few recycled clips and the Christmas music again. I would love to see what you could do with a BMPCC 4K and some cheap Canon lenses. Like what you could shoot on a budget in terms of cinematic video quality. Thanks for all the info you put in these. Looking forward to the next vid as well.

Thank you! Definitely on the same page here....I love using natural light with my photography. I'm also a firm believer in using what you have without adding all the bells and whistles.
In my personal opinion, natural light sets a better mood for the photo and like you said, there is always a way to manipulate that natural light (precise posing for the best effect or reflectors) to your benefit without dragging out unnecessary and expensive source lighting.

This is dope and informative. THANK YOU! Beautiful shots. @7:29 - mannn, YES. This is a huge challenge I encounter at times with shooting with natural light. The clouds want to steal the show - literally, lol. But seriously, when the clouds shift and change the brightness WHILE recording, it "ruins" my shots. How have you worked with that element of surprise?

These are great looking shots. The color grading is spot on as well. I do have a question though, do you change your lighting depending on skin tones? You made some killer shots with dark skin tones (a lot of times film makers shoot in a way that causes dark skin tones to lose their depth). Just curious if you approach lighting or shooting skin tones differently (esp when comparing really dark skin tones to really light ones)?
