    Hey Vuhlandes, don't know if you're gonna see this but I'm a newer TH-camr and I just wanna say thanks for all the stuff you've taught when it comes to making videos :) You've helped me so much when it comes to creating my channel, and though I'm still learning and still got a lotta stuff to apply to my vids, I'm slowly getting there. Happy New Year!

    7:45 slow paced of the people’s faces compared to fast paced- it’s so much more powerful and beautiful. It’s only a few seconds for each but their eyes tell years-worth of stories and emotions. Made me want to cry, honestly.

    "A really good director (and filmmaker) thinks about editing before shooting and editing during shooting."
    That was the statement of an editor for a national television company who has won several awards. This statement
    changed my filmmaking forever.

    @NicoleSeelig ปีที่แล้ว +14

    I love editing, it's where your film comes together. It's where you decide the pace and overall feel of the story. Of course, it helps to start off with good material.

    Hey Vuhlandes, and Happy New Year! I'm a professional film and TV poster designer in NYC and I have been watching and learning a lot from your vids for a while now. Even though I am a designer and a visual person, video editing has always felt very daunting to me. I find that even when I am editing my own videos and tutorials that I am really tempted to 'over-edit' and add as many bells and whistles as I can. Either that or I overthink it and procrastinate because I see other videos that are edited better than mine. It was refreshing to hear from someone who knows video editing so well explain how to do it right without going overboard. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips to help us all improve! Keep up the great work. 🙌

    This was a great reminder that editing is super important, can really make or break a project, but that doesn’t mean it has to be super complicated. I’ve been overthinking a lot, feeling like I need to do learn everything so I can do the most to make something worth watching. But I love a simple cut, and that’s really all I need. Thank you for sharing :)

    Just came across your channel, a complete newbie to film/video/editing world. Really appreciate how you transfer your information, it's engaging from the get go, love how you show us, break things down afterwards unlike any of the other channels I've came across where everything is overwhelming. Basically thank you, feel like I have learnt so much already, look forward to watching the rest of your other videos!

    My biggest take away from this is I want to use still tripod shots more. Your videos have a comfortable energy that makes them hard to look away. Editing is highly motivated by the energy of the shot itself and what it's moving in to, and these two in tandem in your work feels like a breath of fresh air versus the prevailing trends of the last decade in videography

    Appreciate this video man! 🙌
    I think the art of storytelling and mood setting isn't getting enough attention anymore and is overshadowed by videos with fast-paced eye candy transitions and effects. I guess this also has to do with the social media generation and how people's attention span has been lowered to about 3 seconds. I for one prefer taking my time to tell my stories in a cleaner edit, without using the latest and greatest transitions. Sure, I probably lose a mass audience of the 3 second attention span folks, but I'm okay with that.
    Keep on creating and staying true to yourself🔥
