If you apply any of the tips of this video and/or use the AI voice over in a project, let me know in the comments so I can check out your work ❤
Here is the external validation.
Great work, I always do a storyboard as well as a shooting script
Okay real talk, this is seriously an INCREDIBLE video. I can't even process how to film yourself filming yourself, and this video runs so smoothly. You deserve all the external validation you get!!
Ha, thank you!! It was a lot of work, especially since I had a ton of technical difficulties 😅 but we got it done. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻
yeah im not gonna record myself just so that no one can see it because i have no one lol, thats why i just do photography and sell those
Yes it's fantastic 👏
Couldn’t agree more😅
I've struggled with doing this type of self-shoot. It's beyond frustrating. The level of patience people have to do this is admirable.
Hahaha right, it requires so much patience
I'm going to start doing this.
For someone who is always shoots alone, you have inspired me to a new level of creativity! Thanks so much!!! 💯💪🏾🇺🇸
Oh yay!! What is something you’re gonna try next?
@@lilafromyoutube I am going to try everything you said in this video to make shorts of me going to the Survivors Memorial. The Survivors Memorial is a documentary I am working on and my first big project. I would love to keep you posted on it.
❤ great 👍
Can u speak German or why is your accounts name "Einmalig"? :)
@@ChristinaKey G'day
"No friends".
Stop it.
What am I... chopped liver?
YOU ARE IN MASSACHUSETTS
I like the thought of someone passing by your car and just seeing a lady in the backseat talking to herself
hahaha that happened a lot
You make it all seem so easy that I want to have a go. Just need to find the time…
… and learn the skills.
My God! You are a one person film making powerhouse. Even gave me that feeling of "what's my excuse?"
ohhh thank you!! And.. what is your excuse?
I’m so excited to get started, thank you!
I only started my vlogging channel 2 weeks ago so thank you for these tips & great methods for filming yourself. Much appreciated Lila. Kind regards, Tony
Adding the edited video at the end would have made a huuuuuge difference to this video.
Agreed.
I’m confused, did you skip the intro? 😅 the intro is the edited video.
@@lilafromyoutube 🤦🤣 Oops! I'm going for a second watch now.
Sorry.
@@lilafromyoutube You've said: it's in the intro. You're making us rewind, which on TH-cam is a no-no. Repeating the edited video at the end would have made your video many times better.
Friendly note: I'm giving you the advice I wish my viewers had given me a while back :)
The best part, along with the great tips, was the encouragement that "you are not alone." It's easy to forget that when you only see the finished product. I appreciate you, as always!
Thanks!! It’s probably better to leave it out for ✨ retention purposes ✨ but I felt tired and defeated after the shoot that I needed to say it in case anyone else feels that way haha. I definitely felt a bit alone because no one really mentions it! 😂
Love these videos, keep up the good work!! 😄
Fantastic video Lila as always, I haven’t posted a decent video in almost a year, trying to get back to it with a vlog and this video has given me the motivation I needed.
Loved it, thank you!!!
Thank you for this video Lila. I want to improve my adventure videos to make them more cinematic but I found other channel's tutorials harder to follow. This one was perfect.
Saw you a few years ago when I was getting started, your English has drastically improved. Goed gedaan!
The first 20 seconds... hits home.. :)
This is such a great video. I really appreciate that you're teaching how to film yourself while you're actually filming yourself and really landing it. I've always found your explainers helpful, but this has layers - focus and framing, yes, but you're knocking the visual storytelling out of the park! Thanks for making this. It's inspiring.
I really really appreciate this 🙏🏻 thank you! I underestimated how hard filming yourself filming yourself was gonna be hahahaha
Nice job! Thanks for the info and ideas.
This video just blew my mind!
Hi Lila, thank you so much for this helpful video! Your tips on how to film oneself are really practical and easy to follow. Especially for someone who has no idea how to start, this has been incredibly useful. I appreciated your recommendations on camera angles. They make a huge difference! Can't wait to try these techniques in my own videos. Keep up the great work!
Terrific video, I enjoyed watching this, great tips I had never considered before. You are an inspiration. Thank you Lila
I love your videos ! Really helps me !
Appreciate it! 🙏🏻 what’s your biggest struggle when you film yourself?
Great video Lila! I know this took a ton of work. Filming yourself filming is definitely taxing lol 😂
Such an awesome video, I'm obsessed 😩 You inspired me to try make more cinematic videos
Aww. Loved this video ❤. You will do good no matter what and we will be here to whatever you upload! 😅
❤️
That was awesome! I learned so much. Thanks!❤
thx for the artlist... new horizons ✌
Lila, you are always such a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, thank you!
What a phenomenal video! I too find the song first, gets the creativity flowing!
Def gonna try
Good job! Many of us can pick up something new to benefit our projects. Thank you!
Great work on filming yourself.....filming yourself. Filming yourself on its own is hard work so cudos to you!
For me, it was always remembering to press that record button! I have also used two cameras when filming tutorials. One mid range and one close up. Just as challenging.
And then there's the audio! Yes, you're right. All very draining and challenging.
Great info on the AI and App which I will be checking out.
Keep up the great tutorials!
This was solid. Loved the tips about manual focus and composition. Great stuff!
I’m glad 🙏🏻 p.s. don’t forget rules are meant to be broken
Definitely had to subscribe nun of these other filmmakers channels I been has ever been this entertaining and educational as this video right here
Aw thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I love the fact that you have this very clean english accent and you move the hands like am Italian! 😀 (source: I am Italian).
hahaha 🤌🏻 I’m an expressive talker
These are excellent tips! I film solo hiking, which can be quite challenging. I love that you mentioned using a storyboard-I recently started doing that, and it has saved me so much time!
oh that’s definitely challenging! A storyboard or shot list is a must. Definitely pin a little note with all the shots you gotta take (establishing, wide, medium, close up etc) as a little checklist.
I'm relatively new to Premiere Pro and have been getting frustrated with so many tiny things that slow me down. This video covered a number of them. You're a life saver!
are you sure this was the video you meant to comment on hahaha
@@lilafromyoutube Ha! I had too many Lila how-to vids open at the same time. WHOOPS😅
Great video, you kept me watching ALL THE WAY to the end!
hell yea!!!
You have a great energy, this was fun and very informative. Keep it up!
appreciate it 🙏🏻
Wait for it ...
🙌
Here is your validation
Well done Lila
🙌
Doing this kind of shotlist is actually what I did to a recent trip to Berlin.
Still haven't edited it tho 😅
What an excellent how to film yourself video! Brava!
Great video!! I will definitely be implementing these tips :) as a beginner who is learning how to shoot alone!
You got this ♥️
Great tips!!! Love them! Im using the focus on your foot shot as you get off the car. Thank you so much!!
I primarily shoot myself and autofocus is the greatest challenge. Appreciate your tips about manual focus as I’ll be giving that a try more consistently.
let me know how you like manual focus!
❤ as a new filmmaker starting a youtube channel this information is fantastic.
Consider yourself validated externally, my friend! Fantastic presentation on what COULD be (but isn't thanks to you) a very boring topic! Much love for what you do and bring to the table for all of us!
Ha!! Thank you 💕
Love this video. Thank you! It’s so challenging filming on my own. 😂
Thank you so much for this video... I never thought to put something in shot to manual focus on before 🙈
Yes!!! Thank you for this!!!! I asked on your other video for more details on shooting by myself and how to keep things in focus and what settings (aperture priority? Full manual? Full auto?) to use, keeping in frame, etc
I set it in full manual :) so no auto white balance, iso or shutter speed.
This was great! I'm just starting out and these tips helped me so much! Also, I'd love to see a breakdown of the editing process :)
Thanks for letting me know. And how exciting that you’re starting out ✨
Wow, what a nice day! (because Lila uploaded! 🎉)
Hahaha appreciate you ♥️♥️
Great explainer - and the voice over caught me totally off guard, it was a doppelgänger!? Reviewing it so important. I missed focused on a couple of dynamic scenes earlier this week and yep, doubt I'll get to recreate them. Thank you for all the though you put into this, Lila!
so helpful! and your shots are beautiful!!!
thanks so much cara! ♥️
Very much deserved external validation right here

So glad I found your channel again! New channel commenting but longtime fan! The notes in here about trying to make sure you review every shot and pre-planning really hit home (because that's some stuff I still need to work on myself). Awesome video!
I think I recognise your username, is it similar to the old name you were using? Funnily enough I was considering leaving some of those notes out but I’m glad I didn’t because it’s the little things I need to hear myself!
@@lilafromyoutube It is, yes. The "Hastega" portion is the part that remained.
Thought so!!
The focus tip is literaly amazing, that will help me a loooot!! Wonderful video!

“If you like this video, kindly give me a lot of external validation by liking and subscribing” hahahaha subscribed!! Very genuine and fun personality keep it up!
Hahaha appreciate the validation 😂❤️
Ok it’s time to get to filming. Thanks for your inspiration, Lila.
Go film! And don’t forget to let me know when it’s done
OK definitely trying the manual focus idea and getting that monitor app thank you 😊
Awesome content. Love your videography approach. Thanks.
Hi! I am glad I found your channel today. You are very well spoken and a delight to watch. Just trying to get my first video organized and shot myself. Very overwhelming! This video helped me. Thank you and have a great day!!
Aw thanks! if there's anything in particular you'd like to see a video about, feel free to share it.
Really helpful tips, thank you so much!! Voiceovers, yeah I'm really not good at it either. That's why I don't do it often. Yes, AI can help, but it doesn't feel completely natural. So sometimes I stutter and struggle with words, but it's part of the vibe I guess 😅
This is really great! So many good tips. Definitely inspires me to better storytelling in my videos. Here’s my challenge: Most of the “how to film yourself” tutorials like this are set in areas where there are no other people. I live in a big city, where there are always other people not too far. I feel so uneasy about setting up my camera on a tripod and filming myself walking away. I’m so afraid that someone’s going to see me doing that and snatch my gear at the first opportunity! Any tips on getting shots like this in a city? Or is it simply a matter of being more creative in the shots. Maybe they need to mostly be mid and close shots, and then the wider shots don’t include me? Any ideas?
The transition to the actual footage was so good👍👍
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Perfect video! Much appreciated 🔥😁!
I’m so glad!
love the creativity and humor in this video. well done!
Haha thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this great content. I learned so much
I’ll be trying the AI voiceover, but the Creator app is gonna be a huge help. Awesome video
Lemme know how you like both!
Very useful tips! I just came back from shooting myself in the park and found your video, which is great by the way! 🔥 🔥 🔥 manual focus and tripod 💪
oh how did it go??
So awesome, quirky and lovely
Wow!!! What a nice video!! You are so cool, sweet and funny together! Love your tips and your videos are so good and full of inspiration! Thanks and greetings from Berlin! 😍☀🙌
Great video this will really help me out When I’m making travel content
holy poop. never seen you before but subbed first 30 seconds.
I love that you said holy poop 😂 welcome! And nice to meet ya
Fabulous video, beautifully crafted and wildly informative! How was I unaware of your channel until now!? New subscriber ✅
Amazing as always. Thanks for the tips
Thanks for watching 🫶🏻
Girl ammmmazzzing vid and jammed packed with fantastic ideas and tips 🎉 I have no clue why you don't have friends your funny 😂 and my ppl
Excellent stuff. Bravo!!!
The big let down at the end of shooting is real. Sometimes its reason enough to bring along anyone else to help. Even if its just to press record.
Truth!!
@@lilafromyoutube I might also use AI to help me learn voice over skills. Mmmm, yeah.
Great video. Yes, would like to see the editing!
Validation coming your way. 0:19 laughing hard. Great video. Liked and I was already subscribed. Saludos!
Appreciate the validation Aron!!! 🫶🏻 much needed. And glad I made you laugh haha
The camera backpack idea is genius
Very nice thank you!
Hi, I'm here to give you a lot of external validation... or another way of putting... loved your video!
Love you and your channel. 🧡💚💜
Thank you 🫶🏻
love the video ! You are amazing! and Inspiring !
oh man that's so nice!

thank you! nice to meet you :)
@@lilafromyoutube already subscribing waiting for more tips 🤗 nice to meet you too :)
Thank you for this!!!!
♥️
Great video and thanks for sharing. 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for this video. I am currently creating at work safety videos and I never thought about generating the voice over first and then shoot the shots. I always get frustrated because i need to adjust the voice overs, because I don’t have enough video footage. Doing the voice over first will help me a lot. Thank you!!
It’ll help a lot!!
No idea how I got here but I enjoyed my time! Great video and solid tips. Yehp, it is really hard to film yourself filming, especially when you only have one good camera. So, I often "mock film" myself filming with a cheap camera and then actually go fetch my camera and really film what I'm filming, lol. If there's one thing I have beef with (but it's really subjective) is your car pointing to the right and your feet pointing to the left. Flipping the car shot or driving in from the other side would have made for more pleasing screen direction. But I mean, if you were going for a "jarring" counter direction, it worked. So, well say that! haha. Anyways, here's your external validation, by saying, great worked, watched till the end!
Hahaha I’m glad I got you to watch till the end! Driving in from the other side doesn’t make sense for my brain because that feels like driving off screen for some reason. Left to right feels like we are driving into the story. Hahaha funny how this works eh!
Haha yeah also, you have a sense of the location and environment, so filming from the other side might feel disorienting too. I often encounter that on music video shoots. Flipping the set and in real life feeling confused but it all geographically makes sense in the edit haha
love this video as a I am complete newb! I love your encouragement as well.
You got this! 🖤
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for being an inspiration for my next shot
Ohhh what’s the shot?
@@lilafromyoutube about my simple daily life. Love your support
Excellent video!
This was really good and super helpful!
Thank you for validating my work haha
Im in a Wheelchair and its so difficult to do, using a tripod and hitting the leg moving the camera etc. . Really enjoyed and would to see how you fully edited this video and ho2 its all browkn down etc. Have a good weekend

would love to make a follow up video so if you have any burning questions or struggles - feel free to share them here :)

This is so helpful. Thank you friend
Hey how have you been!
@lilafromyoutube I'm good and staying busy but this video was very helpful cus I want to make one about being a solo creator and a day in the life of what I do. So these tips are so helpful.
the no friends to help shoot is so real for me lol great tips as always!
Been doing it solo for 5 years now 🫠 sucks but we get it done!
