    I appreciate this so much! As a person of color (Filipina) , i find that when I have dark spots and marks, the pigmentation is darker. Meanwhile my friends who are white and asians that have light skin tone, their marks tend to fade faster. Thank you, Dr. Andrea! Always a big help!

      Hi Mika! I also have olive skin and experience hyper pigmentations. Dr. Vanita Rattan is another dermatologist on TH-cam and she is alllll about skin care for skin of color! She has many great tips for skin like ours. Just thought i let you know and she so positive and sweet. Love Dr. Dray too. Good luck Mika!

    • @idreamofpeony
      @idreamofpeony 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@Saoirse3797 she’s not a dermatologist and she spreads a lot of misinformation unfortunately. Her info about chemical sunscreens, which Dr Dray calls out here, is just bad and she encourages a lot of her viewers to fear actives and instead opt for inactive derivatives that are unproven (like retinoic acid vs retinyl palmitate)

    • @whitepaper5241
      @whitepaper5241 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@idreamofpeony yeah. Not only that. She also tells us to avoid glycolic acid because it can worsen hyperpigmentation on skin of color. There's no data that shows that. She also consistently recommends expensive products, as if cheap products aren't effective at all. I don't like it when influencers use the word "skin of color" or "people of color" to spread misinformation for their advantage. Most active ingredients are effective at treating skin problems, no matter what your skin color is.

    Everytime I go to my local store now, I always have to walk around the skincare aisles picking up products and checking their ingredients giving myself or if I'm with a friend reasons why the product is bad/good, imagining I'm Dr Dray.

    I am very pleased with the Vichy Vitamin C Serum. It makes my skin look more uplifted and healthy. I have hyperpigmentation and it has faded a bit. I've been using it for about 6 months. I'm 78 so maybe it works better on older skin?

    Was wondering if you could do a video on “people of color” skin. Because i do believe that Caucasian skin is very different from skin of color and majority of the products in the US were made for caucasian skin. Whether this is true or not, maybe you could debunk it? Because i think thats where the chemical sunscreen “myth” came from.

    • @NolawitReka
      @NolawitReka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes pocs do need different products and its better if u use a physical spf if u have skin of colour bcs chemical spfs heats up in your skin and that can cause your hyperpigmentation to get worse especially in hot area and around heat.

    Nice video Dr Dray-your shopping with Dr Dray videos are really good. Now that I'm approaching what I call the Beatles Birthday, i. e. 64, mostly I just wash my face once a day. Twice a day, and even water can irritate. Another reason too, to sleep on your back. I noticed that side sleeping on Tretinoin skin can irritate my cheeks. Hotel linens can burn my face.

    So, that Peach Slices company is interesting. It has some really nice products, a good selection of fragrance free. Then, they also have a lot of the no-no products: peel off masks, serum with gold in it for some reason, and I think they have a glitter mask. But their snail repair line is intriguing, especially the moisturizer.
