It took me three separate rewatches to realize that this song is actually Yui's final message to Shinji. It's beyond astounding how the full version of this song encapsulates the entire message of the show, something that lore videos take like 30 minutes to do. I also don't think there exists another song that so accurately and meaningfully portrays the special love of a mother for her child. As someone who lost their mother as they turned 20, nothing makes me feel closer to her than this passage. there is 1 time where it feels a little rushed to me, "and the moon" at 2:30 feels like it couldve done with one less syllable (everything else is pretty much perfect though)

You have a "Rise up, young boy, and make yourself a legend!" right after "you just stand there smiling vacantly," even though that's not in the actual lyrics, so that should be deleted. The other part is that it should be "Come now, Angel, you must embrace reality!" instead of "Come now, reach out, you must embrace reality!" After months of watching Evangelion only have last Rebuild to go and I finally know what they're saying. Didn't realize there was another 3 whole minutes of song haaha
Lyrically, I prefer this version of Eva over the original Japanese lyrics. Mostly because this has more of a bittersweet and melancholic tone to it's approach to lyricism compared to the original Japanese version which fits with the theme and the atmosphere of the show a lot more than the Japanese version(Which mostly stemmed from Yoko Takahashi not knowing what the themes for the show was at the time when writing this).
