I can't believe there are people who skipped the intros watching anime at home. I understand when it's a club and you're pressed for time, but I love the songs too much to skip them and also there is something that feels right about sitting through the whole intro.

despite the obviously depressing feeling that EoE leaves you, you need to understand it's actually a happy ending. You just need to combine it with Episode 25 and 26 director cut versions of the actual anime. Shinji learns to love himself and learns more about the others who he failed to relate with. Then, he ends Instrumentality and lets everyone return to normal life if they want. Asuka finally caresses Shinji's face, showing that she's accepted him and realizes she hated herself, not him. basically.

The show deals so much with the issues of interpersonal relationships, and also how your relationship with yourself affects those around you and your ability to give and recieve love. One of the biggest themes explored is the hedgehog dilemma. Highly recommend it

As a psychologist and soon to be a clinical psychologist I found this anime so intense, the caracthers are top notch and their motives are so abstract. Their battle, all the things related to Freud and his psychosexual stages, and Jungs anima and animus are so damn straight to the point from my perspective. Jokes aside, you can do a license or master degree paper about this anime from the start to the end...26 years later and this will forever have a place in history!! Amazing! 😎
This Song [The CruelAngel'sThesis] is basically Yui Ikari's [Hideaki Anno's] Entire Message to Shinji Ikari [You/Me The Viewer] on how to deal with (Depression, Hedgehog's dilemma, Angel's, Seele, Asuka) pretty much everything Life can throw at you like. Yui and Gendo both followed this Deviant-Devine Philosophy, but Gendo didn't pass it on to Shinji hence Shinji's suffering and why Yui kills Gendo.

Not only that but the cadence it's delivered in sounds incredibly beautiful and impactful. This song is great on it's own but the (Relatively accurate) translation gives it so much more meaning and honestly makes it better overall for an English speaker
Wait, the lyrics are just an adaptation from the Japanese ones, who make no sense at all with the show. The thing is that the lyrics talk about a shining young boy who will be covered in glory and kleos. But Shinji is a passive protagonist in the global events scale. The true story whom he is protagonist is his internal struggle, which brings me to the second point: Shinji nor Asuka can't love each other, becaceuse they can't love themselves (which is talked about in the song Thanatos from the EoE), so they both end up in a pretty bad relationships, full of a "fake" hate and a unhealthy desire for each other (take the hospital scene as an example).
This has to be the best English version out there; I can understand the lyrics and connect to them, the voice is amazing, the poetic translation is phenomenal and the video itself is edited amazingly. I get this was made in 2017 and there's a slim chance the AmaLee will see this, but your voice is absolutely amazing. You and the rest of the team did a great job

I had never seen this show till just a year ago. The song randomly popped up and my wife who at the time hadnt seen or heard it in ages knew exactly what it was and when i told her i had never seen it before we ended up setting aside all our plans to binge it. What a wackadoodle extremely enjoyable journey that was. It was a good night. Stuffed ourselves with more ice cream then we like to admit and watched the entire thing through.

I recently finished watching the anime, finishing with End of Evangelion. I’m glad I finally watched it, and overall I enjoyed it, but wow there was a lot to process in those final few episodes, including EoE. One of the best takeaways from the anime was the opening, and this is an awesome cover.
@@Frogboy71 I watched it cause it’s been on my radar for a long time now, being widely considered one of the best sci-fi anime (so I’ve heard). I can recall years ago watching I think the first movie on Toonami, cause it’s the part where they use the giant sniper rifle laser on the fifth angel, and I’m pretty certain it was the movie and not the series. I’m actually more into slice of life anime, but I do really like sci-fi, hence why I finally got around to watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I’ll make it a point to watch all the movies sometime.

You don't need to watch Evangelion to listen to this masterpiece. The composer of the original song had no idea about Evangelion, and watched the first two episodes in fast-forward to wrote the song. It relates massively to the show itself. Just because the author didn’t know the entire show doesn’t mean it’s themes can’t be related to the message of Eva. It can be applied in so many ways to the message of Eva and to say otherwise is untrue despite its history.
I watched it when I was young and took time rewatching it and holy shit Shinji went through more pain and agony than i remember. Like he's so anti social that he straight up rejects becoming the perfect being with everyone else and chose to stay by himself on the beach with Asuka and Lilith.
I like how everyone else just decided fuck it let's all become one and shinji chose to just be himself for once in his life also I like how asuka of all characters decided to live in the world of at fields because asuka was so insecure throughout the show I was genuinely suprised she didnt want to become "perfect"

Axiom Ape It truly is amazing how great the lyrics are. This translation really helps English speakers understand nearly the original Japanese entire meaning (no translation is ever perfect though). Also it seems the lyrics have lots of double meanings and they're very spoilery. So in hindsight it decades after watching the anime it makes the intro all the better.

The instruments sound bad and lack the soul of the original, and the riffs she adds to the singing are unnecessary and at some points, such as “young boy”, make it sound worse. Also, some of the syllables added to the singing as a result of English translation are at points, like with “deviant-divine philosophy”, are cringeworthy. Saying this sounds just like the Japanese version is blasphemy.

I always found the song very mystical and mysterious, but hearing it in a language I can understand allows me to appreciate it's deep transcendental message.

A lot of songs have deep lyrics, I think with anime it's because most of their western audience doesn't know Japanese so we learn the shows story and character and then through vids like this we see what the words we've listened to so many times actually mean and we can see how it relates and fits with the show itself. Like re-reading a book and seeing all the foreshadowing an author put in. That's just my opinion through, it may just be because they pick good songs that relate to their show
justink075 While that may be true to some extent, it should also be understood that you can't directly translate Japanese to English. You have to rearrange things due to vastly different grammar. If you didn't the lyrics would make no sense. The reason for the depth is both choosing the right song, or getting a band/artist to make a song for the series which happens a lot to my understanding.

I must say that the original series up to ~20th episode was great but then it gets a bit too weird and complicated. Still I really enjoyed it, to the last 26th episode what is strange, 25 and 26 happens after "The end of Evangelion", but I watched it after the numbered seriers. And I advise you - don't watch it anyway. It does completely mess everything up for me, and you can really understand the final of the series without that movie.

despite the obviously depressing feeling that EoE leaves you, you need to understand it's actually a happy ending. You just need to combine it with Episode 25 and 26 director cut versions of the actual anime. Shinji learns to love himself and learns more about the others who he failed to relate with. Then, he ends Instrumentality and lets everyone return to normal life if they want. Asuka finally caresses Shinji's face, showing that she's accepted him and realizes she hated herself, not him. basically.

The fact that the instrumentals completely shift for this line is just beautiful, definitely made me think about the relationships I have with other people.
The show deals so much with the issues of interpersonal relationships, and also how your relationship with yourself affects those around you and your ability to give and recieve love. One of the biggest themes explored is the hedgehog dilemma. Highly recommend it

Their battle, all the things related to Freud and his psychosexual stages, and Jungs anima and animus are so damn straight to the point from my perspective. Jokes aside, you can do a license or master degree paper about this anime from the start to the end...26 years later and this will forever have a place in history!! Amazing! 😎

This Song [The CruelAngel'sThesis] is basically Yui Ikari's [Hideaki Anno's] Entire Message to Shinji Ikari [You/Me The Viewer] on how to deal with (Depression, Hedgehog's dilemma, Angel's, Seele, Asuka) pretty much everything Life can throw at you like.
Yui and Gendo both followed this Deviant-Devine Philosophy, but Gendo didn't pass it on to Shinji hence Shinji's suffering and why Yui kills Gendo.

Wait, the lyrics are just an adaptation from the Japanese ones, who make no sense at all with the show. The thing is that the lyrics talk about a shining young boy who will be covered in glory and kleos. But Shinji is a passive protagonist in the global events scale. The true story whom he is protagonist is his internal struggle, which brings me to the second point: Shinji nor Asuka can't love each other, becaceuse they can't love themselves (which is talked about in the song Thanatos from the EoE), so they both end up in a pretty bad relationships, full of a "fake" hate and a unhealthy desire for each other (take the hospital scene as an example).
This has to be the best English version out there; I can understand the lyrics and connect to them, the voice is amazing, the poetic translation is phenomenal and the video itself is edited amazingly. I get this was made in 2017 and there's a slim chance the AmaLee will see this, but your voice is absolutely amazing. You and the rest of the team did a great job

I don't blame the poor lad, for several reasons.
I had never seen this show till just a year ago. The song randomly popped up and my wife who at the time hadnt seen or heard it in ages knew exactly what it was and when i told her i had never seen it before we ended up setting aside all our plans to binge it. I recently finished watching the anime, finishing with End of Evangelion. I’m glad I finally watched it, and overall I enjoyed it, but wow there was a lot to process in those final few episodes, including EoE.
One of the best takeaways from the anime was the opening, and this is an awesome cover.

I can recall years ago watching I think the first movie on Toonami, cause it’s the part where they use the giant sniper rifle laser on the fifth angel, and I’m pretty certain it was the movie and not the series.
I’m actually more into slice of life anime, but I do really like sci-fi, hence why I finally got around to watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I’ll make it a point to watch all the movies sometime.

It relates massively to the show itself. Just because the author didn’t know the entire show doesn’t mean it’s themes can’t be related to the message of Eva. It can be applied in so many ways to the message of Eva and to say otherwise is untrue despite its history.
Unfortunately I have to tell you that this seems highly unlikely; the lyrics of the song reflect a lot on the actual lore of the series.
I watched it when I was young and took time rewatching it and holy shit Shinji went through more pain and agony than i remember. Like he's so anti social that he straight up rejects becoming the perfect being with everyone else and chose to stay by himself on the beach with Asuka and Lilith.

I've been trying to leave my parents and their controlling, abusive ways, and it's hard

Axiom Ape It truly is amazing how great the lyrics are. This translation really helps English speakers understand nearly the original Japanese entire meaning (no translation is ever perfect though).
Also it seems the lyrics have lots of double meanings and they're very spoilery. So in hindsight it decades after watching the anime it makes the intro all the better.

The instruments sound bad and lack the soul of the original, and the riffs she adds to the singing are unnecessary and at some points, such as “young boy”, make it sound worse. Also, some of the syllables added to the singing as a result of English translation are at points, like with “deviant-divine philosophy”, are cringeworthy. Saying this sounds just like the Japanese version is blasphemy.
Yeah, no. If you want an English version that sounds like the original - and is more haunting - then you might want to go to the official english version of the song.

A lot of songs have deep lyrics, I think with anime it's because most of their western audience doesn't know Japanese so we learn the shows story and character and then through vids like this we see what the words we've listened to so many times actually mean and we can see how it relates and fits with the show itself. Like re-reading a book and seeing all the foreshadowing an author put in. That's just my opinion through, it may just be because they pick good songs that relate to their show

justink075 While that may be true to some extent, it should also be understood that you can't directly translate Japanese to English. You have to rearrange things due to vastly different grammar. If you didn't the lyrics would make no sense.
The reason for the depth is both choosing the right song, or getting a band/artist to make a song for the series which happens a lot to my understanding.

I must say that the original series up to ~20th episode was great but then it gets a bit too weird and complicated. Still I really enjoyed it, to the last 26th episode
what is strange, 25 and 26 happens after "The end of Evangelion", but I watched it after the numbered seriers. And I advise you - don't watch it anyway. It does completely mess everything up for me, and you can really understand the final of the series without that movie.
