Red and blonde hair is not typical Spanish or Portuguese features. That's more typical of northern Europe. In Portugal (mostly in the north) we have some ancient sites that are supposed to be CELTIC. There's a great similarity between northern portuguese (and spanish) and the Irish, for example.

That was interesting to see the travel involved getting to the site. How amazing are all these locations and the effort and time that went into building them, it's staggering to try and comprehend. We are so used to marveling at the big stones of 10 to 100's of tons, that we don't think to much about those millions of stones of several hundred pounds and the effort required to handle and place them. Some years ago Hans Giffhorn published a book in German: "Wurde Amerika in der Antike endeckt? Karthager, Kelten und das Rätsel der Chachapoya" (Was America discovered in the antiquity? The tests shows that the red hair and the freckles do come from origines in Europe. They have also found tuberculosis in the buried bodies, which would be from Europe. The hypothesis in the book, is that they are descendants from people escaping the roman attack on Carthage about 150 B.C. by boats. They sailed into the Atlantic southwards and where the currents do allow it, they crossed the Atlantic and came to Brazil. They may have followed the river of Amazonas to Peru and then after a long time settled in Kuelap. The round houses are Celtic. Also the way of burying people is Celtic according to the Book.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but the Spanish people don't have that much red-haired genes. That's more an attributed to the Northern hemisphere; Norse, Scotts/Pics/Irish ..? And I find it very believable that these genes can be very old.
I can give you a light here. About an hour away from the city called Cuenca in Ecuador there is a little town called Santa Ana. You find this town following the route called Via Al Valle. The strange thing about this town is that almost everyone is blonde or red haired. But they are not a lost German colony that came 50 years ago they have been there since God alone knows when and everyone around them respect them. I'm myself canari and Inca and I look like a native American. These people and where they come from is a mistery no one really thinks about in Ecuador because people are just too used to them ( blondes living among natives since ancient times) they're still there. We are so used to marveling at the big stones of 10 to 100's of tons, that we don't think to much about those millions of stones of several hundred pounds and the effort required to handle and place them. The round structures were simply the best way to enclose the most space with the least wall with the building material at hand. Thanks for the interesting visit, Brien.

@LA Detailing In a way yes, war was the absolute last resort. Most tribes and cultures let the Inca annex them passively which they highly benefited from. However there were some proud cultures like the Chachapoya who refused to be incorporated in the Empire.

Amazing! Where was source for all the stones? Did they dig them up or carry them up from below? Hard to imagine a population of 4,000 people devoting so much manpower to construction vs food production.

They were an one of many organized, centralized state, while the city had 4000 people the whole country had a population in the hundreds of thousands, and the whole of the chachapoyas cultural territory, a couple million. Although Kuélap is just 1 of many such fortresses in the region, since the Chachapoya were divided in many states that constantly warred amongst themselves, hence the need for many such citadels.

Some years ago Hans Giffhorn published a book in German: "Wurde Amerika in der Antike endeckt? Karthager, Kelten und das Rätsel der Chachapoya" (Was America discovered in the antiquity? Carthages, Celts and the Mystery of the Chachapoyas), C.H.Beck, München 2013. The last Chapter of the Book is about the DNA-tests done on the people there. The tests shows that the red hair and the freckles do come from origines in Europe. They have also found tuberculosis in the buried bodies, which would be from Europe. The hypothesis in the book, is that they are descendants from people escaping the roman attack on Carthage about 150 B.C. by boats. They sailed into the Atlantic southwards and where the currents do allow it, they crossed the Atlantic and came to Brazil. They may have followed the river of Amazonas to Peru and then after a long time settled in Kuelap. The round houses are Celtic. Also the way of burying people is Celtic according to the Book.

It also has round houses but the stonework looks to me, almost identical... which is very strange. But I'm just a curious guy about ancient archeology.
EDIT: Just after I write this comment you mention that they may be people that arrived from Europe 😁. That could also explain the LEGEND the native americans had of bearded white people coming from the EAST, when Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492... History starts making sense.

18. Sie lehnen das Angebot oder den Rat von den Menschen ab, dadurch, daß sie die Menschen als komisch, nervös, empfidlich usw. etikettieren.

21. Sie belästigen oft die Menschen. Manchamal können die Menschen nicht bemerken, daß sie von ihnen belästigt wurden.
22. Sie machen etwas Gutes, aber machen auch etwas Furchtbares. Deswegen werden die Menschen immer wieder von ihnen betrogen, weil die Menschen meistens eine gute Seite von den anderen Leuten sehen wollen. Aber das ist nicht richtig. Durch diese Neigung können die Menschen nicht bemerken, daß die normalen, ordentlichen und rücksichtsvollen Menschen nie solche Schlechtes machen.
23. Sie sind Schönfärber, Heucheler und Scheinheiliger.
24. Sie fordern Dankbarkeit von den Menschen unter dem Deckmantel der Freundschaft.
25. Sie lassen die Menschen Schuldgefühl haben.
26. Sie können wissen, was die Menschen denken. Sie sind nämlich telepathisch - "psychic" - und haben manchmal "psychic power".
27. Sie können in die Erinnerungen von den Menschen eine andere Erinnerung hineintun, die sie gemacht haben, und zwar wie ein subjektives Spiegelbild wäre. Die ist oft nicht konsequent.
28. Sie können Gedächtnisse oder Erinnerungen von den Menschen vergessen lassen.
29. Sie können mogeln, weil sie Gedächtnisse oder Erinnerungen von den Menschen wissen können.
30. Wenn sie etwas einem Mensch geben, ist es möglich, daß er etwas anderes verloren hat. Dadurch, daß er etwas bekommen hat, betrachten sie diese Tat als seine Zustimmung, etwas anderes von ihm zu bekommen. d.h. stehlen. Sie stehlen durch Technik von "Teleportation". Man muß sich also vergewissen, ob er etwas verloren hat, wenn er von jemandem etwas bekommen hat.
31. Sie stehlen den Menschen verschiedene Sachen.
32. Sie manipulieren oft oder immer die Menschen. Sie können also jemanden ein Verbrechen begehen lassen.
33. Sie schnarchen. Mit Schnarchen können sie mit ihren Kollegen Funkkontakt haben.
34. Sie wenden die schwarze Kunst an.
35. Sie machen die Menschen krank.
36. Sie sind gesund, obwohl sie aussehen, als ob sie krank wären.
37. Sie greifen einen Menschen an, wer zu einer Schießscheibe - "Targeted Individuals" - von ihnen gewählt wurde. Sie verwenden viel Zeit auf diesen Angriff und nähern sich ihm wie ein Schauspiel. Also kann man nicht bemerken, daß der Angriff oder seine schlechte Lage von diesen Leuten sorgfältig beabsichtigt wurde. Man sollte auf jeden Fall überlegen, von wem und warum dieser Angriff oder die schlechte Lage hervorgerufen wurde. Sonst erlaubt man immer wieder diesen Leuten, daß sie ihn ein Schuldgefühl haben lassen.
38. Wenn etwas passiert hat, kann es so sein, daß das Ereignis nicht zufällig war, sondern mit Absicht hervorgerufen wurde. Sie tun so, als ob es zufällig passiert hätte.
Man muß unverzüglich bemerken, daß es solche schlechte Leute gibt, die eine versteckte böse Absicht haben. Man sollte jemandem nicht zu leicht zustimmen und jemanden nicht sofort glauben, weil man nicht wissen kann, ob jemand einen guten Wille hat oder eine böse Absicht hat.
Aber weil sie andererseits in Wirklichkeit nur dummdreist sind, kann man jemanden durchschauen, ob er einer von diesen Leute ist. Also sollte man sich vor den Leuten nicht fürchten, sondern herausfinden, ob ihre Worten und Taten logisch und rational sind.
Diese Leute sind trotzdem sehr gefährlich und wollen die Menschen kontrollieren und töten. Was Sie verstehen müssen ist, daß sie auf keinen Fall die Menschen sind. Das ist wichtig. Ich habe gedacht, daß ich während der Zeitraum in Japan war. Aber das war eine falsche Erinnerung, die diese Leute in meine Erinnerung hineingetan haben. Sie haben mich hypnotisiert. Diese Leute haben die Technik von der Kunst der Hypnose. Sie sind "Energievampire" - "energy vampire" -.
Sie saugen Energie von den Menschen auf, dadurch, daß sie die Menschen ein unangenehmes Gefühl haben lassen. Man kann sie auch Teufel nennen. Bitte seien Sie vorsicht! They are evil. Vielleicht gibt es diese Leute auch in den Kammerspielen. Wenn Sie eine dieser Leute wären, hätten Sie an mich den Brief nicht geschickt. Also habe ich an Sie diesen Brief geschrieben.
Ich meine, daß man erleben wird, was er gemacht hat. Diese Leute müssen ihre Strafe haben. Und wir müssen es zu Ende bringen, daß sie den Menschen die Seele entführen.
Bitte sagen Sie folgenderweise im innersten Herzen.
"Niemand darf ohne meine Zustimmung meine Seele als ein Denkgebiet betreten.
Steuerknüppel von meiner Seele gehört mir.
Niemand kann über mich herrschen."
Es ist allerdings sehr wichtig, daß Sie einen deutlichen Wille haben, daß Sie Ihre eigene Seele schützen. Wer Ihre Seele schützt, ist Sie selbst.

I can give you a light here. About an hour away from the city called Cuenca in Ecuador there is a little town called Santa Ana. You find this town following the route called Via Al Valle. The strange thing about this town is that almost everyone is blonde or red haired. But they are not a lost German colony that came 50 years ago they have been there since God alone knows when and everyone around them respect them. I'm myself canari and Inca and I look like a native American. These people and where they come from is a mistery no one really thinks about in Ecuador because people are just too used to them ( blondes living among natives since ancient times) they're still there. Perhaps they are chachapoya descendants.
